The sidewalks fronting your business can be extensions of your window displays or act as entry halls to your store. This helps attract people, makes your business more inviting, and encourages people to shop longer. GRANDIN MALL REDEVELOPMENT Revitalization of the Grandin Mall site is set to begin! Amacon will start site preparation and construction as the first step. Permits have been issued for construction of the first building on the site, a Sales Center Office building. Demolition permits have also been issued for demolition of the mall (excluding Scotia Bank and the theatre). Did You Know? Grandin Mall was built in 1961. The Grandin Mall site was approved for redevelopment in 2008. Beautification alone can increase sales between 15%35%. St. Anne, St. Thomas Information on events: stalbert.ca/community-events-calendar PILOT PROJECTS The City is launching two pilot projects in Downtown St. Albert. These projects are intended to enhance the vitality of our Downtown and support the needs of businesses and their users. Pop-up Patios Angled Parking A Pop-up Patio extends business activity into the street, replacing on-street parking spaces. The sidewalk remains in the same spot. Successful in many other cities, Pop-up Patios may include space for eating and drinking services, seating for the general public, standing room, additional retail space and other activities. This project will: Operate from May 17, 2014 to October 14, 2014. The Angled Parking Pilot Project (APPP) is an attempt to temporarily examine parking management strategies Downtown. The goal of the APPP is to modestly increase the number of parking stalls and provide traffic calming measures on Perron Street. This project will: Place angled parking on Perron Street from June 2014 to May 2015. Allow for patios on both sides 40 km/h on Perron, St. Thomas, & St. Michael Streets. Create 12 additional parking spaces. Construction will occur June 2 - 6 in the evening to minimize traffic disruption. of Perron Street from St. Anne to St. Thomas Street (shown below). Use temporary and aesthetically pleasing borders and furniture. Not affect automobile, cyclist, Reduce speed limits to or pedestrian traffic flow, but will remove on-street parking spaces.
