May 2013 is the official start of our 50th Anniversary
year at Powassan Building Center. In 1963
Mr. Elwood Moore began operating a retail building
supply store at the same location we are today.
At the time the business name was
“Powassan Planing Mill” and sold basic lumber,
cement, roofing and panelling. During the 29 years
that followed the name was changed to
“Powassan Lumber” and there were 3 additional
owners. In 1992 I became the fifth owner and
continue to operate the business as “Powassan
Building Center”. The store and product lines have
expanded and with the partnership of
“Castle Building Centres” we have continued to grow.
We invite you to share in our celebration on the
Victoria long weekend to kick off this milestone.
