Tournament Overview
Please join us for the Annual Tee Off Fore Wellness Golf & Tennis Tournament. Spend two fun-filled days
with South Florida business and community leaders as they come together to play golf and tennis to
benefit the Cancer Support Community Greater Miami.
The Tee Off Fore Wellness Golf & Tennis Tournament Committee is proud to introduce the new Men’s
Doubles Tennis Tournament. This new offering will be held on Sunday, October 18th at the Dave & Mary
Alper JCC with Men’s Tennis Lead Sponsor, Papa John’s.
This new event is open to 32 players and includes an opportunity for players to join us on Monday to
enjoy our annual day-end festivities as noted below. Women’s Tennis and Golf will be held on Monday,
October 19th at Deering Bay Yacht & Country Club, followed by cocktails at the 19th Hole Cocktail
Party, sponsored by Steiner Leisure and a poolside tournament Awards Dinner featuring our luxury
special drawing.
Golf Tournament Lead Sponsor, Sharp General Contractors, Inc. and Tennis Tournament Lead Sponsor,
Bancredito, round out the day where guests experience a signature event in one of Miami's most
beautiful settings. All tournament players will receive luxury goodies and / or special gifts, promotional
giveaways and take part in sampling from premiere food and beverage sponsors who have
generously donated their services.
Who We Are & What We Do
Cancer Support Community Greater Miami (CSCGM) is a non-profit organization offering a
comprehensive group of educational, psychological and social support programs, completely free of
charge, to children, teens and adults with cancer as well as their loved ones. Our services are offered
as an integral part of conventional medical treatment and are available from the moment of
diagnosis. We do not offer medical or alternative treatments of any kind.
Our participants come to us from throughout South Florida. They have been diagnosed with all types
of cancer, at all stages. In fact, in January of 2014, CSCGM launched our new Pediatric Oncology
Pilot through an exclusive, generous sponsorship by Carnival Foundation.
Open for more than twelve years locally, CSCGM has provided FREE services for more than 25,000
people. We are part of an international organization that is the merging of The Wellness Community –
National and Gilda’s Club Worldwide making the Cancer Support Community; the world leader in
psychosocial oncology.
All programs and services are provided in a setting designed to feel like a home. Only professionals,
licensed in their fields of expertise, facilitate our groups and lead our workshops. Programs are offered
Monday through Saturday, daytime and evening hours, most on a drop-in basis. It is important to
emphasize that each affiliate of the Cancer Support Community raises its own funds and is governed
by its local Board of Directors. In other words, all money raised in Miami, stays in Miami. CSCGM is
supported solely through grants, corporate and foundation gifts, donations from individuals, and,
special events such as today’s annual Tee Off Fore Wellness Golf & Tennis Tournament.

In an effort to pay tribute to one of our community’s most beloved tennis ambassadors, the Volunteer
Leadership Committee for the 2015 Tee Off Fore Wellness Golf & Tennis Tournament proudly presents,
the 3rd annual
Sandy Teter Invitational Tennis Tournament.
This special event, organized in partnership by Sandy’s dear friend, Jane Forman, will be held in
conjunction with the annual Cancer Support Community Greater Miami fundraiser on Monday,
October 19 at 11:30 AM at Deering Bay Yacht & Country Club.
In July 2013, the USTA, Florida and the Miami tennis community lost a dedicated and beloved tennis
volunteer after Sandy Teter passed after her battle with cancer. Born in Jersey City as the only child to
a pair of professional ballroom dancers, Teter moved to Miami at the age of 12. A graduate of
University of Miami, Sandy didn't start playing tennis until age 60 after retiring from 33 years teaching
physical education.
Tennis soon became her life organizing leagues and pouring her energy into recruiting and
encouraging women players of all ages and abilities. For 11 years from 2002-12, Teter captained
anywhere from 1 up to 10 teams per year - a total of 53 teams. Serving as a board member for the
South Florida Women's Doubles Tennis League, Teter was also a dedicated supporter of The Jane
Forman Tennis Academy at the Alper JCC. Her “Teter Tweeter” blog was on the Jane Forman website
about tennis and the JCC leagues was a fan favorite.
Named USTA Florida Tennis Volunteer of the Month in August, 2013 Teter was recognized for not only
coaxing players back into the game, but for her years of growing and making USTA League Tennis a
meaningful part of so many players' lives. "Sandy had so much love and enthusiasm for tennis and in
bringing the beginning-level women into our USTA Leagues," said USTA Florida Tennis Program
Coordinator Cathy Nordlund. "Not only did I enjoy seeing her love of tennis but also seeing her in the
