Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority
Since the beginning of the semester,
AOII has been working hard at recruitment,
our philanthropy, and community service
projects. During formal recruitment, we
took 29 lovely new baby pandas and now,
they are enjoying our new member program. Following the excitement of recruitment, we had our Progressive Dinner
which led to Big/Little Reveal. Then in
September, the Delta Omega chapter of
AOII celebrated it's 50th Anniversary. The
celebration began with our 30th Annual
Mr. MSU Pageant, following with our 50th
Banquet and tailgating for the football
game on Saturday. Over 150 alums came to Murray, KY to celebrate this awesome anniversary with us. Community service is something that we hold close to our hearts. Some
of the events that we have been involved with this semester are the Murray Ice Cream
Festival, Relay for Life events, and the ALS Walk. Coming up on Fall Break weekend,
we have a group of girls going to serve at the Camp for Courageous Kids with juvenile
Arthritis patients. AOII has enjoyed the beginning of their semester and we are ready to
work hard the rest of the semester.
Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity
So far this semester Alpha Tau
Omega had their Frog Hop Philanthropy
and raised about $1,500 for The Animal
Shelter. Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority
won the events of Frog Hop. The rush
week was pushed back about 3 weeks,
so we had more time to find some good
quality guys for our Fraternity. In total,
we got around 12 new members.

The Brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. would first like to
welcome everyone back to the campus and hope that YOU have had an enjoyable summer! We would like to congratulate everyone on their new members
thus far and would like to introduce to the Greek Community the newest members to our chapter Kearron Smith, Ryan Hudson, Caleb Parker and Marqus
Veasey. We are anticipating another successful semester and hope to continue
to have support from our brothers and sisters in Greekdom as we continue to
support you all just the same.
Our first big event The Annual Miss Black and Gold Scholarship Pageant will take place Oct. 14 at 7pm in Johnson Theatre. This past summer we
sent 6 of our Brothers; Ryan Hudson, Jesse Adams, Ronald Sickles Jr., Johnny
Frye, Phillip Hudson & JaFayre Covington to the 105th Anniversary General
Convention of Alpha Phi Alpha in Chicago, IL. Bro. Jesse Adams completed
an internship in Birmingham, Alabama in Hotel Management & Construction
in addition to attending a highly selective training seminar in Miami, FL for
top hotel chains in Hospitality Management. He is currently awaiting his acceptance letter to their year long training program! Bro. Ronald Sickles Jr. attended an international nonprofit organization conference in Aurora/Chicago,
IL. and traveled to Madison, WI & Normal, IL visiting graduate schools. Both
of whom will graduate in December!
We would like to wish Amber Mills, member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority,
Inc., best wishes as she takes her reign as the President of the National PanHellenic Council (NPHC). Also to members of NPHC, IFC & PHC Exec
boards! Finally, we wish Bro. Johnny Frye best of luck since transferring back
home to attend school at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated

Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated was founded on January 16, 1920 at
Howard University in Washington D.C. by Five women. The principles are
Scholarship, Service, Sisterly Love, and Finer Womanhood. The Nu Rho Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated was chartered on November 18, 2000
by Deirdre Mims, Jennifer Elliot, Rosalin Lowry, Tameka Grey, Kathy Hayes,
and Takeisha Thompson.
Nu Rho currently has 7 active undergraduate members. The ladies of Nu
Rho sponsor educational, service, and social programs geared toward the student
body here on the campus of Murray State University, as well as the local community. In the past few years the Nu Rho chapter has been awarded the 2008 &
2010 NPHC Step Show Winners, 2010 1st Place Regional Z-HOPE Award, and
the 2011 Regional Chapter of the Year Award. The Nu Rho Chapter currently
has 7 active undergraduate members.

Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority
Alpha Sigma Alpha would like to welcome 32 wonderful new baby bugs to Murray
State’s campus as well as welcome back all of the
active members. First of all, the ladies of Beta Nu
were awarded the Crown of Excellence for the
second year in a row this summer which is
awarded to the top Alpha Sigma Alpha chapter in
the nation. Congratulations ladies! Alpha Sigma
Alpha also had an amazing recruitment and things
are just getting started in the fall semester. Soon
Alpha Sigma Alpha will be hosting our Annual
Dodgeball tournament so keep a look out for
more information!

Alpha Delta Pi Sorority
The sisters of Epsilon Omicron chapter of Alpha Delta Pi have much to be excited about this
month. They recently welcomed twenty-five new beautiful alphas to their sisterhood who were
very excited to be given their bigs on Saturday August 27th! On October 22nd at Hamilton
Fields, they will be hosting their annual Cornhole Tournament with Lambda Chi Alpha. The
week prior to the event will be ribbon wars! This year it will be themed “Blast from the Past”
and each team will have the option to dress up to a decade of their choice for spirit points. This
year, the cornhole tournament will benefit the local Need Line in Murray. It will be 1 dollar to
enter or a non-perishable food item which will be donated to the backpack program of Need Line.
On October 21st they will be having a carnival for kids at Hamilton Fields from 4-7 that will also
be benefiting Need Line. There will be things such as a cupcake walk, ring toss, pee wee cornhole
tournament, and face painting. The ladies of Alpha Delta Pi have also been very busy planning
Homecoming with the men of Sigma Phi Epsilon and won Greek Week with Alpha Sigma Phi
and Delta Sigma Theta. Overall, September has been a busy but great month for ADPi!

Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority
In the past six months, the Alpha Chi chapter of Sigma Sigma Sigma has received several
awards and participated in many different philanthropies as well as community service projects.
On Alpha Chi’s Founders Day, we received
numerous awards. We received the National Chapter of the Year Award for 2010-2011, Ally Simon
received the Mable Lee Walton Leadership Award,
and we received the 2010-2011 National Recruitment Award.
We were involved in the Special Olympics, Easter Seals Valentines Dance, St Jude’s Up
til Dawn, a Bone Marrow Drive, and our philanthropy, the Jan Wilson Walk/Fun. The Alpha Chi
Relay for Life ended the 2011 school year by raising the most money of any MSU organizations. In
April, five Alpha Chi sisters were invited to help
National Officers install the newest Tri Sigma
chapter at McKendree. We won 2nd place MSU’s
All Campus Sing.
Several individuals in Alpha Chi made accomplishments with Tri Sigma. Galileo Simmons
represented Tri Sigma in Miss MSU and received
first runner up. In June, Lexi Sosh attended a con-
ference hosted by Nationals called The Dunham
Women of Character Institute. Stacey White was
one of the six active members nation-wide chosen
to serve on a three year task force to develop a program with Character Counts, which will serve active chapters and provide programming for community outreach. Over the summer, Alpha Chi had
the opportunity to do an initiation to Stacey Sommer Lambrecht. She was a new member to Alpha
Chi in 1988, but due to illness, she could not continue. The Alpha Chi Tri Sigmas from the 80’s invited her to their reunion this summer where Alpha
Chi actives and alumnae were able to join together
and have an initiation for her.
This school year has gotten off to a great
start, beginning with formal recruitment where we
got 32 new members. We also had our fall philanthropy, Ultimate Frisbee, raising hundreds of dollars for the Sigma Sigma Sigma foundation. In addition to our own philanthropy Tri Sigma won 1st
place at ATO Frog Hop and Spirit Award at
Lambda Chi Watermelon Bust. Our chapter president Lynsey Freeman was also named on Murray
State's Homecoming Court.

The Olympian Tribune Greek Members of the Month
Lizzy Filback, VP of PR and Recruitment, has done nothing
but gone above and beyond this past August which is why she deserves to be Alpha Sigma Alpha’s Greek Member of the
Month. Lizzy was in charge of recruitment for Alpha Sigma Alpha
this year and did everything in her power to make sure it was successful. She worked tirelessly all summer long on recruitment plans and
got everything together to ensure that the chapter was able to come
back and get working. Because of all her hard work and planning,
with the help of her sisters, Alpha Sigma Alpha had an amazing recruitment of 32 women of poise and purpose. Thank you Lizzy for all
the hard work and effort you put in to an AMAZING recruitment! We
appreciate you!
Our member of the month is Stacey White. Stacey is a
senior and will be graduating in May. She has held the Community Service Chair in Sigma Sigma Sigma and has transformed
the way our chapter views and participates in community service. She was also chosen as one of the six active members nation-wide to serve on a three year task force to develop a program with Character Counts, which will serve active chapters
and provide programming for community outreach. She was
also chosen by Murray State's Panhellenic Council to receive
the Jane Hall Scholarship.

The Olympian Tribune Greek Members of the Month
Mary Mruk is an Early Childhood Education Major and has
been a member of the RCC of Lee Clark College for the past two
years. She is Alpha Delta Pi’s New Member Coordinator and is a
Member of the NRHH and KEA. Last year she was RCA member of
the year and is treasurer this year. She has been employee of the
week at the T-Room, along with her other on campus jobs at
Dunker’s Deli and Hart Coffee Shop.
Michael Holloway is a man with outstanding leadership skills
in Alpha Tau Omega as well as on campus. He is very scholarly
and is a member of Gamma Sigma Alpha, a Greek Honor Society. He is also a solider in the National Guard. Michael is
ATO's Risk Management chair and under his leadership Alpha
Tau Omega has committed zero risk management violations.
We have remained in good standing with our Nationals as well
as with Murray State University.

The Center for Student Involvement is hosting the 2011 MSU Leadership
Connection Workshop. Meet leaders from Murray State University and the
community. Develop your leadership skills and enjoy the various leadership
styles and personality at the same time! Be a part of an elite experience at
Murray State University. Every workshop is free to attend. Plant the seeds
for a successful future. Workshops are held on Tuesdays from 5pm-6pm in
