At 3:00 PM be sure to come to the tennis courts to join Bob Younker
and his crew to see how the up and coming sport sensation of
PICKLEBALL is played! We will have a lot of fun and some great

vehicle display, the antique fire trucks, and the antique tractors.

Tuesday is Childrens Day
We have The John Martinez Studio Art Club presenting Children's
sand sculpting workshops. They teach children of all ages a variety
of sand sculpting tricks used by the professionals. Each participating
child will receive an official ART ClubSand Carving Tips & Tricks
Booklet. The work shop will run throughout the day starting a 11 AM.
and ending at 6 PM. This will be located right up front close to the
fair office.
12 pm Lowes Kids Crafts presents Build and Grow to the first 25
Children who register. Come and make a wonderful project courtsey
of Lowes. Do we have any ad copy you can use for Lowes,
do we need it?
1pm Tunes for Tykes by Darcy Logan. An interactive program that
gets kids up and moving! Join the fun!
Thursday is TEEN & TWEEN DAY!
The Ottawa County Fair will be bringing you a fun filled day for all
teens (13-19) and tweens (11-12). Win prizes...Have fun!
3:00 PM Frozen T-shirt contest.
Be the first to twist open and put on a t-shirt that has been wet and
frozen to a solid block of material! Prize to the first who can get
their t-shirt on, all can keep the t-shirt they used in the contest!

help determine the early presence of eye disorders. Have your child
tested, it is free and painless!

Our History
It started with a dream in 1959 to take a 50 acre
parcel of overgrown land on Ottawa Beach Road,
lease the parcel from Park Township, and turn in into
one of the top 5 county fairs in The State of Michigan,
according to Dave Vander Kooi, former long time
board member of the Ottawa County Fair.

A lot of the credit for the clean facilities over the
years has gone to Mrs. Viv Johnson, the 93 year
old caretaker that was a fixture at the fairgrounds
for over 35 years, according to Vander Kooi.

approximately 3 miles from downtown Holland. We offer quiet sunny or shaded lots with 20 to 30
amp electrical hook-ups to all sites and a few sites with 50 amp service, water is available to most
sites. We offer clean modern bathroom and shower facilities. We
provide a dump station for your convenience. For only $25 per
night you can enjoy all the benefits of our campground.
We also offer the Fairgrounds for camper or motor home rallies

If you are looking for an ideal location to
hold a Company Picnic, Motor Home Rally,
Family Reunion, Class Reunion or any
other large outdoor gathering consider the
Ottawa County Fair Grounds.
We offer a spacious private setting of 40 acres,
shaded picnic area that can handle up to
10,000 people. There are state of the art
bathroom facilities on the grounds. The
fairgrounds are available throughout the
summer months The picnic area is available
during the week of the fair, which is the last
week of July.
We can put together a complete package,
including private setting for picnic, food
(example chicken BBQ or pig roast),
concession coupons, ride coupons and the
entertainment that the fair is providing for
your "special day". We will be happy to
work with you in planning your picnic,
rally or special gathering.

Reading for Rides
Tuesday July 26th / 1:00 to 3:00 pm
Free Rides for Kids 12 and under with
completed Reading for Rides Application
The Ottawa County Fair is proud to announce a Reading for Rides program! It is sponsored by:
Kids 12 and under read three (3) books and get 1 free ride and a small popcorn or snow cone,
from 1:00 to 3:00 pm Tuesday July 26. The form has space for up to three children to fill out the
three books that have been read. (please use additional forms for additional children.)
Admission and Parking:
Adults and Children 11 and over $4
Children 10 and under free
Free parking

Books should be read by July 25th.

Lost City will be providing a drawing for 2
Lost City gift certificates valued at $144.00 each.
Each gift certificate is for a party for up to 7 people
that includes 2 laser tag games per person & 2
mini golf games per person. The drawing will be
at 7:00 PM. Come to the Community stage during
the day to enter the drawing.
3:00 PM Frozen T-shirt contest. Be the first
to twist open and put on a t-shirt that has been
wet and frozen to a solid block of material!
Prize to the first who can get their t-shirt on,
all can keep the t-shirt they used in the contest!
3:00pm Come to the community stage to get
a ticket for the drawing between 3:00 and 7:00
PM, one ticket per person and one prize per
ticket. Drawing at 7:00 PM.
3:30 Donut eating contest. Eat the most donuts
in the time allowed, and you win a prize! And
a tummy full of donuts...YUMMM!

4:00 PM Water balloon toss. Team up with a
friend and be the team with the last balloon to
survive! You and your team mate will win a

5:00 PM Fair Idol Contest! You can't win if
you don't enter! Last year's first place winner
was Grace Hoffman and the 2nd place winner
was Theresa Redmond! They entered! They
were winners! $100.00 for first place / $50.00

7:00 PM DJ Fun Teen event! Glow Paint,

Pickle Ball is
coming to the
Ottawa County
Fair in 2016
PICKLE BALL is the fastest Growing Sport in the USA, Since the Game was developed in 1965 – there are currently 2833
Places to Play and over 98,000 Individual Courts in the US. You could travel to any State in the US and find a number of Places
to find a Game. In this Area, including – Grand Rapids, Holland, Grand Haven, Spring Lake, Saugatuck, Muskegon, Fruitport,
Norton Shores, there are well over 500 people playing the game.
The Game was developed by two Men for their children, but it was not long before it was taken over by the Retired Community
(mostly Ex-Tennis Players). But over the last few years, all age levels are beginning to play the Game. A lot of Middle Schools are
adding it to their Intramural Programs.
This year the Fair Board is adding a PICKLEBALL Clinic and Demonstration to Senior Day.
The Tennis Courts will be taped off into PICKLEBALL COURTS and there will be a number of current PICKLEBALL PLAYERS,
playing a few games for people to observe how the GAME is played and to ask any questions they may have. After this we
encourage the spectators to be part of the activity and try playing. There will be enough extra Paddles and Balls for everyone to
get involved.
This will not be just for seniors, we encourage family involvement-Parents, Grand Parents, playing with the younger generation.
The Activity will start at 3:00PM on July 27, 2016 and go until the courts are empty.
