JEFF HERSHEY & THE HEARTBEATS - Soul music Vol.1 LP Soundflat Records 11,90
SOUL MUSIC VOL. 1 is the amazing debut album by Californian newcomers JEFF HERSHEY & THE HEARTBEATS.
These fine musicians have already taken over the USA rapidly with their powerful, groovy sound and their outstanding
live performance, and are more than ready to take over the rest of the world now. The album was previously released
as a CD on the American label Siren Records in a limited quantity and sold out very fast, so that Soundflat Records
decided not to withhold this treasure from you any longer and therefore release it again; this time on vinyl also. This
Blue Eyed Soul-Beat masterpiece was recorded with vintage equipment only onto analog tape (- engineered and
mixed by Pete Curry of the STRAITJACKETS -) and it consists of ten fantastic Soul/R&B-gems, one catchier than
the other. The versatility of the band is represented perfectly: ‘Don’t come around’ is an overwhelmingly cool song,
that matches a danceable beat with a groovy saxophone; while ‘Push on Through’ is more of a groovy feel good
anthem, ‘Honesty Road’ is a wonderful and mellow ballad. Listening to the sensational voice of singer Jeff Hershey
and the authentic high quality-sound of the record, you will find yourself thinking these songs were actually produced
in the 60’s. JEFF HERSHEY & THE HEARTBEATS’ SOUL MUSIC VOL. 1 is an honest and pure Soul-record, with
both energy and harmony, that will melt your (Northern-)Soul hearts immediately.

MINNESOTA VOODOO MEN - Shake your mind! LP Soundflat Records 11,90
A brand-new album by the amazing and crazy Japanese Garage-Merseybeatles THE MINNESOTA VOODOO MEN
has once again enriched our 60’s Rock’n’Roll-world: SHAKE YOUR MIND!, a well-chosen title for a musical firework
that won’t allow you to stop dancing. You can expect some wild 60’s Beat paired up with Garage and Surf; besides
fantastic and catchy original compositions it also contains two brilliant cover-songs. ‘Break it all’, originally by the
Uruguayan Beatles-equivalent LOS SHAKERS, as well as ‘Everything’s alright’, a cover of THE MOJOS’ original
which they translated into Japanese language, are both mindblowing coverversions by these energetic Asian
madmen, which fit in perfectly among their versatile collection of Garage-/Merseybeat-hits with a powerful Japanese
attitude. While they appear very stylish in their smart suits and chelsea boots, they deliver outstanding guitarsolos,
(legendarily playing during their wild liveshows while hanging upside down from a ceiling) and their sound has a
rough wildness to it that one simply has to love.

AKRON - Voyage of exploration LP Vampisoul 15,90
After a very limited, self-released edition earlier this year, Vampisoul is proud to present „Voyage Of Exploration“,
the debut album by Akron. Experience the wonder of space travel through nine tunes that unravel the mystery of
strange worlds throughout our galaxy. The testimony of remote civilizations and unique life forms is gathered in this
collection of exotic space junk music, reminiscent of Les Baxter, Martin Denny, Goblin, 70s Italian soundtracks,
Sun Ra, the BBC Radiophonic Workshop. Under the Akron moniker stands one man bringing together all his
influences from instrumental music from the 50s to the 70s: classic exotica by Martin Denny and Les Baxter, the
proto-electronic sounds of Delia Derbyshire and Mort Garson, all kinds of soundtracks (from TV series like Twilight
Zone and Thunderbirds to Italian giallos), the work of unclassifiable artists such as Moondog and Sun Ra. And all of
it filtered through Joe Meek‘s productions.

ANDY LEWIS & PAUL WELLER - Are you trying to be lonely? 7 Acid Jazz 7,50
Acid Jazz Silver Jubilee release, in 7” house bag. Paul Weller went back to his Northern Soul roots in some style on
this dancer, ‘Are You Trying To Be Lonely?’, which was originally released on Acid Jazz in 2007. The single was cowritten with Paul Weller’s bassist and long-standing Acid Jazz artist Andy Lewis as one of the tracks that appeared
on Lewis’ second album, ‘You Should Be Hearing Something Now’. Upon its release ‘Are You Trying To Be Lonely’
swiftly moved into the Top 40. A dance-floor filler if ever there was one, it became an instant classic. B/w ‘Tell me
Once Again You Love Me’.

CAHOONE, SERA - Deer creek canyon LP Sub Pop 16,50
UPCOMING!!! “Deer Creek Canyon”, Sera Cahoone’s third solo album, sees her ruminating on the gravitational
pull of home. Titled for the Colorado canyon where she came of age, Deer Creek Canyon was recorded in 2012 at
Bear Creek Studio in Woodinville, Washington, and co-produced by Sera and Thom Monahan (Devendra Banhart,
Vetiver). Since migrating to Seattle in 1998, Sera has played with Carissa’s Weird, Band of Horses, Betsy Olson,
and singer-songwriter Patrick Park. She released her solo debut in 2006, and her widely acclaimed SubPop debut
“Only as the Day Is Long” in 2008. “Deer Creek Canyon” delves deeper and sees her voice remarkably stronger
than on her past albums. Where her previous efforts explored the complicated throes of dark emotions, this album
is more richly focused. Home is even present in the more personal songs struggling with various facets of love and
friendship (“Worry All Your Life”, “Shakin’ Hands”). Cahoone is singing from a firmer foundation this time around,
trusting the simplicity, bending against the elements like those trees in Deer Creek Canyon. Listen closely, the music
feels like home.

COWBELL are Jack Sandham and Wednesday Lyle. The duo play garage/soul/rock n roll and write songs that
combine a lyrical charm and ease with a sound that’s full-bodied and powerful in spite of their stripped-down set-up.
They take their influences from both sides of the Atlantic with a love for both the output of U.S labels such as Stax,
Motown and Sun and for British sixties R&B bands such as The Small Faces, The Kinks and The Zombies.

CRONIN, MIKAL - Same LP Trouble in Mind 18,50
Mikal Cronin steps momentarily away from the rhythm section of THE MOONHEARTS with his debut solo release.
TY SEGALL plays drums on a couple of tracks and also helped record this platter, which also features guest spots
from Ty himself as well as John Dwyer (THEE OH SEES). Mikal’s debut is full of personal and universal themes,
taking such influences as late ‘60s Del Shannon and The Everley Bros, a more punk Harry Nilsson or Curt Boettcher,
balancing sweet melodies and chords with chunky, psychedelic guitar freakouts, then filtering them through his own
mutant California fuzz.

ESTROGEN HIGHS - Irrelevant future CD Trouble in Mind 13,20
http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18281
ESTROGEN HIGHS - Irrelevant future LP Trouble in Mind 18,50
“Irrelevant Future” synthesizes all of the bands best attributes into one hit packed, perfectly paced LP. It expounds on
the the wiry (and Wire-y) DIY whiffs from previous releases, emphasizes the thinking mans punk of the Minutemen
and all the while an under-current of Kiwi-jangle ebbs and flows. With all of this in mind Estrogen Highs thankfully
don’t sacrifice the off-kilter weirdness that already established fans know and love. Songs like “Alchemy Contest” and
“Status Quo (Oh No)” have a quirky melodic sensibility that plays off intricate guitar and bass lines. “Grass of Leaves”
holds down the chugga-chugga punk angle while “They Told Me I Was Everything” meditates on Shakesperean
betrayal - and just when you think you’ve got a handle on the record’s direction they hammer you with “Seventh
Sunday of the Ordinary Times”, a “ripper” if there ever was one in the band’s canon. The album’s closer “I Wanna Be
Tall” is a measured leap forward, focusing the band’s strength’s into the first perfect pop song of 2012 guaranteed
to be stuck in your head for days!

FAY HALLAM & THE BONGOLIAN - Lost in sound LP Blow Up 16,90
YESYESYES!!!! Vinyl is here!!! And it’s handnumbered ed of 500 only...wow..that’s the fact!! Fay Hallam, originally
from Wolverhampton, a long time exponent of 60’s style beat and pop, has performed over the years in acts such
as Makin’ Time (which also included a pre-The Charlatans Martin Blunt) to The Prime Movers, Phaze and The Fay
Hallam Trinity. Over the years she has worked with Billy Childish, Graham Day, Alan Crockford and other luminaries
of the Medway scene where she lived for 17 years. A prolific songwriter, she has made over 9 albums. Nasser
Bouzida, originally from Newbury, Berkshire, has recorded seven albums for Blow Up Records, three with Big Boss
Man and four solo records as he Bongolian.’ He is a multi-instrumentalist, a man with a huge passion for drums and
percussion, but plays keys and guitar with equal aplomb. His albums have sold around the World, proving popular
for film, TV and advertising placements, as well as being a big hit with DJs becoming essential smoking dancefloor
classics.

FROWNING CLOUDS - Propellers 7 Saturno 5,30
We have two good news: 1) Australia’s favourite sons are back with a new single! Two new songs that confirm,
once again, that the Clouds are bleesed by the muses. A side, Propellers, sounds like a love march performed by
an army of surfing bards; B side, Bad Vibes, is a shinning lost hymn from some 60’s that never was. Once again,
they do no covers; both are amazing self-compositions, aquatic and sunny songs with tons of reverb, a wall of
young voices and delicate, beautiful fuzzy guitar solos. Produced again by Owen Penglis (Straight Arrows, Royal
Headache), Propellers follows the steps of their last single All Night Long: brilliant catchy songs with a hard pop
feeling. They have sixteen no longer and talent enough to stop emulating r&b, Stones and Nuggets sounds. While
lots of European garage bands keep refining their retro style, and American keep trying to reinvent garage music
every day, these five lads from Geelong are walking their own way, constructing their unique sound and growing after
each release. The second good news is This is just an appetizer from their forthcoming second album Paper Jungle
(out on early ‘13!) They’re doing it again. Don’t miss this records!

GALILEO 7 - Staring at the sound CD Selfrelease 13,50
A very limited run of CDs (proper audio CDs, NOT CD-R) in a cardboard wallet, not jewel case.
http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18329
GALILEO 7 - Staring at the sound LP State Records 17,50
As a member of such semi-legends as the Prisoners, The Solarflares and JTQ, Allan Crockford has played an
important part in establishing the Medway area’s reputation as a hotbed for spirited, uncompromising garage rock
with a strong DIY ethic. Playing with such Medway notables as Graham Day, Billy Childish and James Taylor, his
reputation was as the reliable sideman for more flamboyant figures. After finally realising that songwriting wasn’t one
of the dark arts, he recruited some of Medway’s least annoying musicians and formed The Galileo 7 to play some of
the songs he had been storing up for a few years. The Galileo 7’s sound leans in a more pop-psych direction than
some of Allan’s previous rougher-hewn combos. If you want a convenient (but probably misleading) label, maybe
‘garage-pop’ will suffice. If you demand unhelpful and inaccurate reference points before you listen to new music,
think late-period Soft Boys, Dukes of Stratosphear, The Nazz and any number of bands who went a bit psych and
wobbly in 67 than got back to making pop songs when the stuff had worn off a bit. This new collection covers such
subjects as misanthropic tetchiness, the evils of empty consumerism, anthropomorphised mood disorders and longdead childhood pets - all in the form of the uplifting 3 minute pop song!

GOAT - World music CD Rocket 14,50
http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18272
GOAT - World music LP Rocket 15,50
For those who are unaware, GOAT are a collective of musicians who hail from a small and very remote village
called Korpolombolo in deepest darkest Sweden. Legend has it that for centuries, the inhabitants of the village of
Korpolombolo were dedicated to the worship and practices of Voodoo. This strange and seemingly unlikely activity
was apparently introduced into the area after a travelling witch doctor and a handful of her disciples were led to
Korpolombolo by following a cipher hidden within their most sacred of ancient scriptures. The reason it led them
there is unknown, but their Voodoo influence quickly took hold over the whole village and so they made it their
home - there, they were able to practice their craft unnoticed and unbothered for several centuries. This was until
their non-Christian ways were discovered by the Church and they were burned out by the crusaders, the survivors
cursing the village over their shoulders as they fled. To this day, the now picturesque village of Korpolombolo is still
haunted by this Voodoo curse; the power of the curse can be felt throughout the grooves of this GOAT record. The
nine track album follows the underground success of the now sought after 7” “Goatman”, which is also included in
this selection. The band takes in many influences, from the Afro groove that is central to the album, through to head
nodding psych, post-punk, turkish rock, kraut repetition and astral folk.

HEXVESSEL - No holier temple CD Svart 14,90
Hexvessel is the work of Mathew “Kvohst” McNerney, as being ‘a holy body or host carrier of spectres, magic
spells and rituals’. The debut release, ‘Dawnbreaker’ is a spiritual attempt to re-awaken the inner self and reach
enlightenment through the powers of psychedelic folk music. Channeling and confronting demons of the past, from a
strict Catholic upbringing, to his formative years living in Norwegian Lapland and cutting his teeth singing for Satanic
Blackmetal bands. With an installed appreciation of 60s Canterbury folk from his childhood growing up England,
Negro Spiritual Church hymns mix with themes of the occult, Crowleyan magick and Haitian voodoo. Inviting select
underground artists to participate on the record, he collaborated with Norwegian dark tango/folk musicians from
Krugers Medbragte and Jaime Gomez Arellano from experimental avant-prog bands such as Mothlite, Guapo & who
has previously carried out production work on Miasma And the Carousel of Headless Horses and Ulver. the album
also features a guest vocal performance by Carl-Michael Eide aka Czral from progressive rock weirdos Virus and
original hand-drawn artwork by Finland’s godfather of doom, Albert Witchfinder. A personal and intensely dark trip of
unusual compositions, using organically recorded instruments such as sawblade, harmonium, zither, gongs, harp,
mellotron, mandolin and bandoneon. Otherworldly folk, with an uncanny, haunting resonance that will undoubtably
surprise fans of McNerney’s past work with Blackmetal bands such as Dodheimsgard and Code. For admirers of
Changes, Woven Hand, Espers, Midlake & Comus.

HI-RISERS - Hang around with you CD Rock and Roll Inc. 14,90
CD out NOW, Vinyl later in 2012!! After a long wait the spectacular rock&roll trio is back to hang around with you.
And... what a party they have in mind! In this new album you can find all the reasons why they are considered the
flagship of the best american rock-and-roll. Looking back without being retro, The Hi-Risers combine the best and
more genuine american (music) styles to create their sparkling own cocktail. Rock&Roll, Pop, Doowop, Beat, Surf,
Country... Don’t be shy, come by and hang around with The Hi-Risers! Your ecclectic friends have a little bit of
everything for you... On Fire Hazard they will remind you to You Really Got Me and to the first generation american
garage-punk bands of the mid 60s (who were themselves influenced by the British Invasion). Then, on tracks like
All That The World Can Be or Way Back When they let their polite and gentle ways show, with reminiscences to
the early 60s beach pop, the Everly Brothers or P.F. Sloan. More classic references can be heard on Watch The
Monkees, where the band pays homage to (you guessed it) The Monkees! with a few guitar licks and hooks taken
from them for their very funny song. There are hi-octane rockers too, where a clean Telecaster, bass and drums is
all a rock&roll song needs (when they are played by the right guys!). Because The Hi-Risers are not only gentlemen
with good taste, they are also extraordinaire players. Doctor’s Wife, Jump Start, Pack All My Troubles, o Where’s
The Life Of The Party are good examples of that. And since an all-american blend is not so without a dash of
country music, The Hi-Risers go yeehaw! with a honky tonk number that the masters of the genre (Buck Owens,
Merle Haggard, George Jones...) would be proud of. Silver Saddle Motel, and a whiskey soaked broken heart. By
now you’re probably ready to hit PLAY (or spin the vinyl), but let’s finish with one more, cause (I’m In Love With My)
Record Collection is a declaration of principles. In it Greg and Todd tell us about their love for their records, a feeling
many of you know well. And they’re sure not talking about cloud players, podcasts, streamming or Sporkiffy here...
they are talking ‘bout the real deal, vinyl records with their fascinating 12’ and 7’ jackets that made us dream while
the music played. Nobody remembers their first mp3, but everybody can tell you about the first record they bought or
received for an early birthday. This is why Hang Around With comes out on 12’ vinyl as well as digital and CD!!

film and TV themes, features both tracks from their first single, as well as a whole host of other smart Hammond
groovers, which re-defined the term cool and put the band and their record label firmly on the musical map.
http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18300
JAMES TAYLOR QUARTET - Money spyder LP Acid Jazz 19,50
Acid Jazz Silver Jubilee release. 180g vinyl. The James Taylor Quartet’s second release on Acid Jazz, recorded in
one afternoon and released in 1987, The Money Spyder, was, at the same time, the band’s first full album release,
after their debut mini-album ‘Mission Impossible’. It happened to also become the first UK release on the label that
secured gold disc status. ‘The Money Spyder’ was conceived as the soundtrack to an imaginary spy film, applying
the band’s distinctive Hammond funk style to Taylor’s own compositions. Go-go Fender guitars and Hammond organ
race each other from beginning to end. From the title track, with its mysterious piano line, to the urgent, fuzz-infested
‘Car Chase’, the recording is live and raw and takes the listener on a journey from Carnaby Street into the arms of
an exotic double agent (‘The Spiral Staircase’), only to end up somewhere in Spain for the final showdown (‘Buzy
Bee’). ‘The Money Spyder’ is a cult classic that answers any questions you might have had about the relevance of
Acid Jazz!

LYRES - Lyres Lyres LP Munster 16,50
A great selection of covers and originals make Lyres’ second album a fascinating example of a band at the top of their
game. Sound, attitude and a way of making music that you don’t see around too often. Over the next few months

pink jacket proclaimed this new product to be “Lyres Lyres” All new for ‘87 Lyres Vol II ‘She Pays The Rent’.

LYRES - On fyre LP Munster 16,50
Formed in Boston in the late 70s out of the ashes of the legendary DMZ, Lyres are one of the truly essential bands
of 1980s garage and their fierce debut from 1984 has been a benchmark for the genre since then. Over the next
few months Munster Records will reissue the complete Lyres discography on Ace of Hearts. +++ Like many young
Europeans at the time, the first real taste I had of Lyres - aside from copious blastings of a second generation
cassette tape of their exhilarating Dutch VPRO radio broadcast from 1983 - came when their debut long-player, the
sensational “On Fyre”, was released the following year. Nothing we’d heard previously coming out of USA around
that time could have quite prepared us for the sound of Lyres. You see, theirs was born of an altogether different
mother strain. Yes, there were those groups that were part of the still burgeoning scene that was beginning to
happen, and yes, most other contenders that came our way at that time were also said to be heavily influenced
by the wildly intoxicating sounds of the 1960s garage bands; but the majority weren’t cut from the same raw and
inspiring framework that Lyres were. Not the kind of group who deemed it more important to look like they stepped
out of a Rolling Stones photo shoot circa ‘65, or could be bothered with parading any uniform look such as any of
their own heroes, like say Paul Revere and the Raiders, The Kinks, or even The Wailers, presented back in the mid60s. Lyres were just gonna let the music do all the talking, and so for them jeans, tee-shirts, leather jackets and a
pair of sneakers would do just fine. Producer Rick Harte’s Ace Of Hearts label was already known for their attention
to detail regarding presentation of sound and artwork, through releases by the likes of Mission Of Burma and Classic
Ruins. They also issued a stunning 12” EP of the earlier Lyres, and pre-figured “On Fyre” with the release of a
crackshot double-deck 45 with ‘Help You Ann’ and ‘I Really Want You Right Now’, both stone cold killer tunes easily
identifiable as the signature Lyres sound - their appearance on the LP also numbering among the major highlights.

MIKE BARBWIRES & BLUE OCEAN ORCHESTRA - S.O.S el sotano 7 Sleazy 7,20
One of the most energetic, and talented surf musicians on the scene has finally, for the first time released a few
45s under his own name. Mike Barbwire, bandleader of infamous Swedish act The Barbwires has been writing
songs and recording for several years and reflects what hes been doing since the last release with The Barbwires.
The music Mike will be performing is a mix of beautiful, trembling reverb drenched tunes straight out of the ocean,
mixed with some raw, mean, vicious guitar slinging early 60’s rock’n’roll style. Think early Link Wray for a reference
combined with the magic sounds of John Barry.

PIKES - Something’s going on LP Time for Action 11,90
It is nearly three years since THE PIKES released their debut EP, but now they are finally back with a new album.
THE PIKES pay again tribute to the true mod revival sound of the late 70’s/ early 80’s, featuring some 60’s influences
to a Mod-Punk sound. ‘Something’s going on’ is fast and wild. The secret? A perfect harmony of pop hooks and
catchy background vocals, put together with blazing guitar riffs, a vibrant bass and forceful drums. Staying real to the
good old days they returned to the fully analogue Schaltraum Studio of Berlin and recorded the songs on dark brown
Tascam tape. So watch out for this platter and go get it - ‘Where The Action Is’!

REVEREND HORTON HEAT - 25 to life DoLP+DVD Yep Roc 39,90
The 25 To Life CD boxed set includes the full film on DVD plus 2 CDs featuring a live album of the recordings made
at the Fillmore plus the first ever, career spanning “best of” compilation of the band’s studio recordings. In addition,
the CD boxed set includes a 52 page booklet featuring images and stories from the band’s 25 year span all housed
in a collectable box. The deluxe LP version of 25 To Life includes the DVD and full live recording on a double LP plus

25 to Life was filmed and recorded live at the legendary Fillmore Theater in San Francisco in 2010 and includes live
concert footage, band interviews, crew interviews and more. This movie captures the sights, sounds and energy
of The Reverend Horton Heat doing what they do best - performing live and killing it. In addition, the interviews,
historical images and footage, provide background and a deeper appreciation for one of the hardest touring bands
in the business. They’ve been at it for over 25 years and they show no signs of slowing down.

ROOKIES - Things ever said LP Other Eyes 19,90
Limited edition of 250 copies only!!! Italy’s premier garage’n psych group return with their 2nd album!! On the new
album they’ve eschewed the covers in favour of 12 strong originals. And let’s say they’ve had plenty of time to fill
out the tracklisting, even though the album was finished over a year ago. Seemingly, finding a label has been tough,
and the LP has now finally been pressed on a newly established the bands very own Other Eyes Records Label.
My favourite on Things Ever Said is still the folk-rock track ‘Another Rainy Morning’ that I heard online after it was
recorded and mixed. But as a whole the album steers away from the more hard-hitting garage of the debut and sees
a development of the group’s moody beat side, which definitely stems from a Dutch influence. I can’t remember now
if the first album was recorded at Circo Perotti (it certainly sounded like it), but this record has quite a different sound,
clearer and not so loudly mixed. Other standouts are the psychedelic ‘Midnight Woman’, the jangly ‘As Days Go
By’ and the agitated ‘Can’t Waste My Time’. Another influence I know they have is The Kinks, and I can hear faint
echoes of ‘I’m Not Like Everybody Else’ in ‘On My Own’. The Rookies prove here that their own material is strong
enough to support a whole record, which is a claim not many contemporary garage groups can make. (w/help of
Record Turnover)

SHAWN LEE - Soul visa LP Lonestar Records 14,50
Shawn Lee & his new album ‘Soul Visa’ has all the hallmarks of Lee’s auteur approach to his music. he has produced,
mixed, sang & played every instrument on the album. Both rich in harmony and dynamic in scope, Lee commits
himself to the classic three minute pop song. Inspired by the songwriting geniuses of Burt Bacharach, Brian Wilson
and Jimmy Webb, Shawn mixes it up musically but always keeps things soulful and melodic. It features a wealth
of contemporary production techniques, inventive instrumentation and lush vocal harmonies. It’s a place where the
sounds of yesterday meet the sounds of today, skilfully constructing a conceptual bridge between the old school and
the new. Limited to 500 copies on clear red vinyl!!

STAMPLETONS - Early tapes DoLP Time for Action 19,90
First copies are limited edition of 100 copies (handnumbered) on chestnut brown vinyl! Formed in 2009, the
Stampletons is a 60´s Beat band from Belrus. Shortly afterwards they released a first album as a limited local edition.
Everything about the band was right - the clothes, the haircuts, the sound, the attidude and as a first appreciation
the Russian band the Cavestompers invited them to play a show in Moscow. Not only that but one year later they
recorded their 2nd album live at the Doo-Dah King bar, Minsk, which never saw the light of day and soon after this
recordings the band fractured. This double vinyl here is an almost definitive over-view of the Stampletons early
recordings. Featuring a crystal clear sound and lyrics about girls, love and without any vulgarity or affectation they
have laid down some mighty pure Beat/ R&B / british Mod sounds. The first disc features the bands debut album of
destincitive 60´s sound in the vein of early The Kinks, The Action, Small Faces, The Who and of course The Beatles,
with chirpy vocals by Alex Stampletons being reminiscient of Steve Marriot or Ray Davies in their best days. The
second disc features the previously unheard songs from their unrelesed 2nd album of pure amphetamine fuelled
excitement from the first minute to the last. Comes in deluxe gatefold edition w/ extensive sleeve notes, lyrics &
photos.

SUZI CHUNK with GROOVY UNCLE - Girl from the neck down LP State Records 17,50
Limited edition of 500 copies on 180gram vinyl, in authentic front-laminated flipback sleeve. Artwork (and guitar) by
the legendary Bruce Brand! In these times of homogenised, reconstituted, pick’n’mix pop celebrity culture, where
stylists, management teams and focus groups work hard to ensure that puddings are over egged, under cooked and
served with a sickly sweet dollop of banality, it comes as a refreshing change when presented with a platter like “Girl
From The Neck Down”. The long overdue debut LP from Cardiff-based “singist” Suzi Chunk is a collection of songs
written by Glenn Prangnell and the brief was simple; to come up with the kind of record they don’t make anymore.
Four of the tracks have already seen the light of day [“For The Millionth Time” (The Offbeats), “Look Back And Laugh”
(The Kravin’ A’s), “No Stone Unturned” and “Got Any Mantras?”(Groovy Uncle)], while the rest have been written
especially with Suzi in mind. Anyone who has heard the pre-album single, “Look Back And Laugh”/”Tripwire” (fans
include BBC6 Music’s Mark Radcliffe and Stuart Maconie), will instantly recognise the “beat era swagger” of backing
band Groovy Uncle and the soulful beauty of Suzi’s vocal work.

THEE ATTACKS - Dirty sheets LP Crunchy Frog 19,90
There’s a sense that the Thee Attacks could be the blues/garage rock equivalent of The Pigeon Detectives. It’s
a difficult possibility to be faced with for a band that is so likeable and earnest. But, the feeling that Dirty Sheets
can appear, at times, to be a diluted and less exciting meshing together of what has been released previously,
doesn’t work in its favour. To make the blindingly obvious comparison to fellow Scandinavian scuzzies, The Hives,
is obviously one that is too difficult to resist. This begs the question as to whether there is still a home for a goodtime rock’n’roll band? It’s too late. It’s too soon. On their debut, That’s Mister Attack to You, Thee Attacks charmed
audiences with some authentic mod posturing, guitar windmilling and what sounded like a soundtrack to A Hard
Day’s Night. While the majority of the tracks on Dirty Sheets continue to stay below the three-minute mark, Thee
Attacks have, this time, opted for a more sexualised lyrical approach that is bolstered by grittier, bluesy licks. In this
respect, they often come off sounding like a Black Keys tribute act: ‘So Cold’ would make a cracking single, but the
similarities to ‘Tighten Up’ in terms of vocal ad-libbing and chunky and ‘authentic’ retro production are just too familiar
to completely shake off.

THEE CORMANS / PACIFICS - Split 7 Bachelor 5,90
There are a lot of things that can be said about this release but you know the deal, I dont want to be too informative
and chatty about this cause if you order, it means WORK for me. So here we go, the GIMP tricked those goofs from
Costa Mesa, THEE CORMANS, into a record deal, and he was shameless enough to put Irelands handsomest guys
and Bachelor’s latest Hit-makers, THE PACIFICS on the Butt-Side of this 45. Both bands dont really deserve to be
on a split 45 cause they are good enough to have their on 7 Inches, but well, another attempt for the GIMP to cash
in. Now, we pressed 500 copies of this beast of a dirty surf beat platter, and we only have a limited amout of copies
ready for hole-sale, so be quick and get yerself a copy, and while at it, snatch some other cool bean releases from
Bachelor too. Ask for the stock list with details and I will send you one. Looks great huh? Well, here some stats:
500 copies - handnumbered - black wax - come with a free BACHELOR sticker. THEE CORMANS play “Big Twins
Forever”, THE PACIFICS play “Caveman” both are hits of course.

YOUNG FRESH FELLOWS - Tiempo de lujo LP+CD Yep Roc 22,90
UPCOMING!! We realize every couple months that after close to thirty years we are still and always will be a band.
Still playing the “live” shows, thinking of ridiculous song titles, and speaking our own language in front of other people
who could never quite understand. amusing each other, which is more important than any of the rest of it. So, sticking
to the process that had worked for us all along, and lifted us to the lofty heights which we had scaled, we convened
half-heartedly in Kurt’s basement with no plan or idea of what, if anything, we hoped to accomplish in the 12 hours
we’d made available to each other. Most importantly, we just wanted to hang out, and by hang out, I mean being in
the same room together except for the times when personal lives decreed some of us must vacate the premises. As
with our last record, the impossible-to-overrate I THINK THIS IS, Kurt managed to record the damn thing and play
lead guitar at the same time, without compromising his integrity or ability. We learned the songs on the spot, which
we combined with finishing the actual writing of the compositions, played them a couple times, and moved on. No
alcohol or drugs were involved with the making of this record. Really, we couldn’t be bothered. We had stuff to do.
And we did it.

BLACK, PETER - No dangerous gods in tunnel LP Citadel 17,90
180 gram vinyl version. “What’da mean, difficult second album! This is no way to start an interview.” Peter Black (aka
Blackie from the Hard-Ons and Nunchukka Superfly) is talking about his recently finished second solo album No
Dangerous Gods In Tunnel. “Actually the first album was testing the solo ‘waters’. This second one is a lot more represent-a-tive of where I wanna be with the acoustic stuff man. Mind you, that doesn’t mean I’m not gonna change
my mind again down the track.” Hmmm, down the track he says. Meaning? Possibly that a ‘solo’ project is a totally
free artistic extension that can take any shape and form. Says Peter... “Look, ya tiring me out with all this hoo haa.
Why can’t music just be music!” Well, good point I guess, because that’s what this album really is. “To me it is just
pop, but raw, because with the acoustic ya can’t ‘fill’ in bits with clever instrumentation. Every bit has to work... to
sound... well NICE! I love pop music but that doesn’t mean that it can’t have its own special energy.” “Some tracks
are very VERY quiet and intimate, but not in the folk vein, as I see the acoustic as an instrument that can bring
about a raw, sparse approach to melody. And some tracks are lush, brimming with string arrangements, which is
something I wish I could spend more time on. It’s an avenue I’ve always dug but haven’t had the means to pursue.
With this format I feel like I’ve opened up a big box of goodies. Am I making sense? Ha, well.” “And all these songs
have that hoo haa I was talking about” adds Peter, leaving to get a strong black coffee, making this a GREAT time
to say his goodbyes for now.

CORPUS CHRISTI - II LP Jeet Kune 13,20
Gothic and melanchonic, obscure yet traditional country/folk trio formed by American Banjo Player Sam Crawford
along with local garage punk starlets Tina (also partly-responsible for the Intellectuals, Cokerocket, Felt Ups, to
name but a few) and Cristina, off Jeetkune favourites Capputtini ‘I Lignu, backed in this recording by Roman synthwave ‘enfant prodige’ MUSHY and including multiple featurings by an all-stars selection of ladies (Sophia Travis,
Julie from Crash Normal, Elodie “Momolamana”, Miss Chain) bringing their contribution to what’s probably the
bravest Jeetkune release to date. Corpus Christi revisit some ancient-times classics in their own twisted way,
sounding like Harry Smith’s secret recording stash and resulting in a cartoon-like version of the Carter Family with
a dark twist.

DAGGER EYES - Debut LP P.Trash Records 13,50
They are a fairly new Ottawa / Canada group. It is Ian & Ilona from the SUPPOSITORIES and David, who is
an unbelievable drummer. They have just finished recording this debut album. They are incredible live, and their
recordings are exactly what people need to hear. It’s punk, aggressive, but not dry hardcore...this is mega catchy
punk rock, with vicious attitude!

DIGGER AND THE PUSSYCATS - Better listen up good 7 P.Trash Records 5,50
h these new tracks, but they’re definitely Digger songs that could easily slip onto any of our previous albums/
singles. If you like the band you’ll like the songs. If you don’t like us, then save your money for the next P.Trash/
Timmeheiehumme release, which will probably be a whole lot better than these two singles. What do the new songs
sound like? Consider it rock and roll with a bit of shabang! Moronic lyrics feature in the two songs I sing. The two
songs that Sam sings have slightly more intelligent lyrics, but not by much. Lyrical subject matter includes being
taught by your father how to seduce women in the same way that he seduced your mother / taking a trip to Italy and
being fortunate enough to find yourself at a Bunga Bunga party at Berlusconi’s house / following Jesus’ wishes to
do unto others’ bodies as you would have them do unto your own body / having inappropriate relations with your
best friend’s sister and hoping the he’ll still let you stay at his holiday house. You see the front cover for each of the
two Tour-7”s.

DIGGER AND THE PUSSYCATS - Real hard time 7 P.Trash Records 5,50
This year marks the 9th Birthday of Melbourne’s favourite two-piece garage-trash band DIGGER & THE
PUSSYCATS. That’s right, they’ve almost hit the double digits. Geez who would have thought that what started off
as a bit of a joke by two mates looking for a reason to drink free beer and try to meet girls in their hometown, would
take Sam and Andy to all corners of the globe across four continents. The DIGGER & THE PUSSYCATS of 2012
is vastly different to that of 2003. Although their live set still features songs from their very first songwriting session,
the boys themselves have changed. Whilst age has not wearied them, it hasn’t been kind to them either. Yes, they
are no longer Young, Tight and Alright. But they aren’t the slightest bit perturbed to be carrying a few grey hairs
and a bit of extra weight, they still have a thirst for the stage, a love for each other and a desire to keep on writing
and performing music the world over. With a back catalogue brimming with five albums, eight 7’s, a 10’ and an EP,
DIGGER & THE PUSSYCATS return with two new 7’ singles to be released through German labels P. Trash and
Timmeheiehumme. To celebrate the band are putting their adult contemporary lives on hold and getting in the van
for an 18 shows in 18 days tour of Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. Expect suicidal rock moves, bad jokes and
immature songs, not to mention the smell of gig clothes that live in a plastic bag in the back of the van that don’t get
washed until the final show. !!!

The best (and quite possibly only) Swiss/Brit/Mexican rock’n’roll band, DB spew up a remarkably self-assured

clearly “Queen of Fucking Everything” but you can drop the needle anywhere and find a party going on.

DUM DUM GIRLS - End of daze ep MLP Sub Pop 13,70
UPCOMING!!! Time heals all wounds, or so the phrase goes. For the dreamers however, time gives them -- or
maybe demands -- the perspective of every angle, every possibility, every opportunity to wring out whatever is born
from experience. Simple moments alone can magnify these perspectives, culminating in a deeper empathy, and for
a select few, a muse for new artistic expression. Such seems the fate of Dee Dee of DUM DUM GIRLS. Much has
been written of Dee Dee’s personal trials, but no words speak better of her handling of experience than her musical
output. “End of Daze” offers a bracing, daring sonic example of an artist evolving in her understanding of the world.
“End of Daze” flows from a pair of bombastic opening tracks, through the simmering, plaintive cover of Strawberry
Switchblade’s “Trees and Flowers,” to the regretful ballad “Lord Knows,” in which Dee Dee’s voice remains rich yet
crystalline, a gorgeous, toned instrument revealing an awareness of fear and misstep. Closing the EP is “Season
in Hell,” a raucous and practically joyful closing of the book on past pains, and, perhaps more importantly, a looking
forward (“Doesn’t the dawn look divine?”) to the future. It is the last stages of grief and its repercussions, a hopeful
awakening somewhere on the other side, caught on tape. The EP was recorded in 2011 and 2012 with Sune Rose
Wagner of THE RAVEONETTES and Dee Dee’s longtime producer Richard Gottehrer, whose track record includes
the Brill Building, CBGB, and Sire Records.

EYES BEHIND - La declinaison LP Jeet Kune 13,20
After months of procrastination, that turned out to be definitely worth the wait, the debut 12”s lp by the Parisienne

KEPI GHOULIE - I bleed rock’n roll LP Otis Recordings 11,20
KEPI GHOULIE is back with more amazing pop punk. Best known for his days with the GROOVIE GHOULIES,
KEPI has been doing the solo thing for the last 6 years now. Full band though. Not an acoustic album, this is
bubblegum pop punk in the vein of the RAMONES meets the DICKIES and add a bit of T REX. And of course the
signature KEPI genius sprinkled throughout.

LE PRINCE HARRY - It’s getting worse LP Teenage Menopause 17,50
Brussels and Paris combine to create TeenageMenopause Records, 3rd release of the great neo-eclectic label synthgarage-punk influenced. Deep in a moldy cellar, three dipsomaniac mongoloids torture analog synthesizers, beat
drums, attack guitars and. The record is mesmerizing: listening to another track means preparing to do something
you know you’ll eventually regret, like cheating on your boyfriend. It’s time to dance upon the ruins to the beat of
an electronic kick drum and to live today like it was the day after the apocalypse. Think BLACK BUG / DOCTOR
SCIENTIST on drugs mixed with old german electro punk heros DAF (Deutsch Amerikanische Freundschaft), also
not unlike begiums late 80’s Electronic Body Punk Musics legend FRONT 242!

LIGHTNING BOLT - Oblivion hunter LP Load 17,90
UPCOMING!!! Since forming in 1994, Lightning Bolt has taken a zig zag path to recording, playing and touring.
Following in this pattern is the release of Oblivion Hunter, a collection of the band’s epic recording sessions over the
last few years. Oblivion Hunter is a real cool time - loose, hard and loopy. From the get-go the sound is amped-up
and free with an ear on the railroad tracks to the big sounds of industry and clamor. Bass sounds jump out of the
speaker cones that conjure up ears in alien propulsion systems, nights in faraway wind tunnels, and brutal beatings
at Gitmo. Drums and assorted FX pop in and out with the resolve of a finger quivering over the A-bomb button
drunk on power and convinced of your need. This record is one of the few necessary things in your grim stretch of
existence, played by a band with 20 years of total conviction to the destruction of your ear drums. The net is cast
decidedly further this time out with North Pole square dancing colliding with shock troop whiplash, executed with the
spontaneous interplay of neutrino collision. It is time for you to binge and purge. You are now the Oblivion Hunter.

LOST SOUNDS - Lost Lost Demos, Sounds... LP+7 Goner 20,90
Lost Lost Demos, Sounds, Alternate Takes & Unused Songs!! Featuring early and alternate versions from Jay
Reatard and Alicja Trout’s epic garage / electro-punk band Lost Sounds, Lost Lost collects songs off the Black Wave
and Rats Brains and Microchips albums and their final self-titled EP, as well as ones that never saw proper release.
The rare and unheard material ranges from captivating kitchen recordings and acoustic takes to fully realized
studio tracks. Covers of garage obscurities like ‘I Cannot Lie’ and originals like ‘No Count’ betray the garage rock
sensibilities that Reatard was still shedding during the earlier years of the band, while later recordings show the
electropunk and black metal influences that crept into their sound. A great collection from a great band and a couple
of great songwriters-maestros of tension without release-Lost Lost will appeal to everyone from garage and punk
fanatics to Numanoids and metalheads.

M.O.T.O. - No sleep ‘till turku LP Svart 14,50
Hard-On Rock_n Roll! New Orleans based garage punk / power pop legends M.O.T.O. are back with their tenth
full length album. The Record is co-released by Airiston punk-levyt, Blast of Silence records and Svart records
- all hailing from Turku, Finland. The songs on this album were recorded in studio “Dwyers” earlier this year while
the primus motor of the band, Paul Caporino, visited Finland (early January 2012). The album was later mixed
and mastered by Caporinos trusted man, Garret Hammond (Kill MOTO, Raw Power, etc), in Downers Grove,
USA. This time Paul Caporino brings you wore down catchy up-tempo tunes with a lo-fi, under produced sound
guaranteed to rock your socks off! Visitors in this album consist from the cream of the alternative scene in Finland:
Niila Kunnari (Boredom Boys, God Give Ass, The Heartburns) on drums, Kerttu Vauras (Khatarina, Kovaa Rasvaa)
on guest vocals in “Big Emotional Life” and Mikko Luukko (Sweatmaster) on guitar - just to name a few. After 30
years Caporino still delivers and M.O.T.O. is very much alive and kicking! (They didn’t regard him as a “Beatles of
punkrock” for nothing..)

MEDICAL TOURISTS - Same LP Import Export 13,90
This thing is a highly recommended collector item! Onetime Pressing on thick, black vinyl that also comes with
an in-flight brochure! Great labels specialised in KBD/US early punk reissues. So, you can imagine the kick ass
sound!! MEDICAL TOURISTS is a fucked-up synth punk band from St Louis. It sounds like ‘79 art NY-punk band.
Synth/drum machines meet demented and snotty female voice. It is a must have for all who likes LOST SOUNDS,
SCREAMERS, SPITS, NERVOUS PATTERS etc... Nerd Punk but without any cutesy cliches. Songs about being
positive, city lights, having the proper attire and moving forward in every regard. This is not music for sloth. Recorded
and assembled by the band in their practice space. Almost two years in the making, but we think it was worth the
wait. Brilliant cover painting by the much revered Ron Keas.

MONKEYWRENCH - Gabriel’s horn LP Bang 19,70
Finally release on vinyl their 2000 recorded 3rd album by MONKEYWRENCH. “Gabriel’s horn” follows the sound of
Monkeywrench’s seminal 1st album where Mudhoney’s classic grunge sound meets the bluesy garage sounds and
psychedelic trips of 13th Floor Elevators! Released on heavy vinyl and with fully detailed artwork, this album comes
to remind us the evil sonic sounds of the Seattle scene, as present now as it was 20 years ago.

is simple and yet complex pop music to fall in or out of love to. It’s the aural equivalent of sunshine on a rainy day.

SEDATIVES - Teenage runaway 7 Red Lounge 5,50
Co-release with Erste Theke Tonträger / Red Lounge Rec! The energetic melodies that blast through every
SEDATIVES Song, are simple and mind blowing. This Canadian punk band from Ottawa has released their selftitled album some days ago, and it may just be one of the best things that has ever been produced in the history
of melodic punk rock. The harmonizing vocals of the four Gentleman are the perfect balance of aggression and
sincerity while the predominant Bass, the Organ and drumbeats keep the motivating energy that drives their music.
These four Canadian gentlemen may be held responsibles for having written one of the best songs in ages with
‘’Slip away’’, released by Going GaGa / P.Trash Rec. but this two Songs are also just A - side Songs! Maybe we
should mark both Labels with A - Side. The SEDATIVES dared to go step further and once more set a landmark in
the little mundo punko with this new record that will shake your heart and legs!!! You will never be disappointed with
this 7” - believe me!

SPENT FLESH - Same 10 P.Trash Records 13,50
Philadelphia based raw thrashy punk. This 3 piece band, rage through 13 songs in a little over 15 minutes. Fast
precise hard hitting drums, loud distorted guitar that flirt with chaotic, noisy effects compliment dynamic and
aggressive vocals that have just the right amount of snot and grit Their sound touches on classic 80’s hardcore,
whilst paying homage to poppy and metal influences. Musically its amazing how big sounding this sounds for just
drums and one guitar player. At points it reminds me of VOID if they were influenced by HENRY FIATS OPEN SORE
& GORILLA BISCUITS and even a touch of early SONIC YOUTH (mostly guitar wise). Truly an original debut 10”
co-released with FDH & Sit and Spin Records.

To tell you the truth: I’m a BIG fan of this band! And...saying this about a band from Wuppertal means a LOT to me!!
Ya won’t understand the local jokes about this town anyway, BUT this band really knows how to play their frantic
buzzsaw power pop’n punk to the max!! Killer-Diller hittunes!! This 10” includes 3 previously unreleased tracks plus
11 singlecuts!! Just listen to their speedy version of Gloria Jones’ northern soul monster “tainted love” and you know
about THE TOYOTAS!! Incl insert!!

TOYS THAT KILL - Fambly 42LP Rockstar 13,50
Toys That Kill come from San Pedro, California, the city where the freeway ends, where bullets fall from the sky
on the fourth of July and where Mike Watt painted the name of his hometown on his bass and everybody started
calling him ‘Pedro.’ This is album four but year twelve of the band, and probably year twenty-something for Toys
singer/guitarist and Recess Records founder Todd Congelliere, and while it wouldn’t fit his genre or his personality
to start chucking around words like ‘expert,’ Todd and Toys have exactly figured out how to make a couple chords
and a chorus timeless in a way that’s old and new all at once.

UNNATURAL HELPERS - Land grab LP Hardly Art 16,50
UPCOMING!!! Seattle bred Unnatural Helpers churn out short blasts of power pop punk hits. Recorded in Seattle
with Kurt Bloch (Fastbacks) and Eric Randall (TacocaT), “Land Grab” is the band’s third full length release and
second for Hardly Art. One will hear glimpses of old school grunge, sure, but one will also hear some Nerves/Tom
Petty-esque power pop, too...and all of this expert song writing is accomplished in short blasts that reminds one of
punk bands like The Minutemen. Old school working class rock for the youth and adults of today.

VIBES - 45 minutes to go LP Lux Noise 10,50
If you are willing to look beyond the glossy mainstream music mags that push their own agendas and the
manufactured bands clogging up our TV space claiming to be rock music’s great white hopes, there are literally
thousands of bands getting on with it keeping it real and living the dream regardless of how little reward they might
make out of playing good ole fashioned rock ‘n’ roll. They do it because that’s what’s coursing through their veins
and Lux Records have another cool band that are ‘Doing It’ right in The Vibes. It might well be a path they’re walking
that has some real heavyweights leading the way but there is enough going on here to prick the interest of you.

ALS UNTOUCHABLES - Come on baby 7 US-SixPunk-Repro 7,50
Label: Hunt! In 1965 The Untouchables recorded what turned out to be a double-sided hit in the upper Midwest in
1966 with the songs “Come On Baby” and “Stick Around”, both penned by Hankins and Douglas writing under the
name of Thomas Richards. “Come on Baby” is now being called “The Holy Grail of Garage Punk”. From Iowa City,
Iowa. Second of two 45s, this from 1966. Both sides feature screaming punk. “Come on Baby” is full of raw energy
and fast trashy ringing guitar. “Stick Around” is an original composition, blues/soul crossover with an intense break.
A classic yes, come on baby, crazy drums, wild guitar and fast organ sounds = garage punk.

CHARLES SHEFFIELD - I got fever 7 Jukebox Jam 8,20
UPCOMING!!! Well known for the evergreen R&B club classic ‘It’s Your Voodoo Working’, here’s a less well known
number from the Lake Charles, Louisiana born Charles ‘Mad Dog’ Sheffield that’s every bit as ripe for the dancefloor.
A tasty mid-tempo mover with a shuffling bayou rumba, the reason this is not so well known could just be that it
originally went unissued by the Goldband label Sheffield recorded it for, first appearing in rather low-fidelity form
on an 80s comp. Now restored to its original audio beauty from the original masters and pressed here using the
late 50s Goldband label artwork with permission, ‘I Got Fever’ has finally landed the 45rpm release it deserves and
hopefully the dancefloor exposure will follow quickly! On the flip side, you get Sheffield’s twanging swamp blues cut
‘Isabella’, another unissued gem from the Goldband studio!

DAVID HILL / LITTLE ESTHER - Wild child 7 Jukebox Jam 8,20
UPCOMING!!! Back to back, two killer versions of the same track, each distinct but complimentary takes. A lesser
known side for the legendary Little Esther but she is at her slinkiest with her feline vocals drawling out an atmospheric
bluesy rendition over an insistent horn and rolling drum riff, while David Hill’s version is a little more energetic as
it moves along on a catchy rock and roll backing. Whichever you prefer, both sides are heavy-hitting R&B sides
making this another sure-fire twin-spin win from the Popcorn stable!

Label: Checker! Bo’s eponymous first release in 1955 was the classic that brought his much-imitated guitar, drum

FRAYS - 90 Wardour street LP Acid Jazz 14,70
A release of rare mod sounds from the mid ‘60s! The Frays were a UK R&B-combo. Previously known as The
Sneekers, they had a Shel Talmy produced single on Columbia in ‘64. In 1965 they changed their name to The
Frays and recorded a 12-track LP at the Marquee studio in Wardour Street, London. Unfortunately the album wasn’t
issued at the time, since the single off the album (‘Walk On’ b/w Keep Me Covered’, put out by Decca) didn’t chart.
But had this Frays LP been issued at the time, it would definitely have stood shoulder to shoulder with the great
British R&B albums of the era. Now, at long last, The Frays and their album ‘90 Wardour Street’ can be appreciated
as the best in British R&B.

GEBRU, TSEGE MARIAM - Spielt eigene kompositionen LP Mississippi 18,50
A most unusual and stunning album. Tsege Mariam Gebru is an Ethiopian nun who has dedicated her life to helping
others. She has been composing & playing music on the piano since the 1960’s. Her music is a unique mix of
Western classical music in the vein of Erik Satie, Ethiopian music & religious Christian meditation music. On this
reissue of her first LP, originally released in Germany in a very small pressing, we find Tsege Mariam Gebru playing
her own compositions solo on piano. She plays with restrained grace & purity. The record invites repeated listening
well & is filled with spiritual warmth. We are very proud to present this LP - the first in a series of records we will be
releasing with music culled from the monumental Ethiopiques CD series. Old school “tip on” cover.

HAZLEWOOD, LEE - A house safe for tigers LP Light In The Attic 24,50
First ever reissue ++ Re-mastered from original master tapes ++ CD/LP include new liner notes by Wyndham Wallace,
interviewing director Torbjörn Axelman ++ Unseen archive photos ++ LP includes 18”x24” fold-out reproduction of
original film poster ++ A House Safe For Tigers is the soundtrack to one of the seven TV movies Lee Hazlewood
made with the director Torbjörn Axelman during his period living in Sweden in the early 1970s. Hazlewood had
moved there to lay low and to help his son avoid the draft, but wound up finding happiness and creative freedom.
Many of the albums recorded in Sweden made their way no further than Scandinavia, but of them all, A House Safe
For Tigers is the holy grail for collectors, often changing hands for hundreds of dollars. Originally only available
in Sweden, this marks the first time Tigers has been reissued and available the world over. The movie was a
“semi-documentary” featuring Hazlewood and his friend Axelman, looking back to childhood and contemplating the
meaning of life. In it, Hazlewood runs a marathon, tells anecdotes about a bum who cured his stutter and convinces
a group of Swedish children to take sides against Richard Nixon. “It’s strange, very strange,” Hazlewood said, “But
we meant it to be strange.” It’s not necessary to see A House Safe For Tigers to enjoy the soundtrack, of course.
Despite the fact that it was never released outside of Sweden, the music’s hallowed reputation - cultivated in the
intervening decades by the privileged few who were able to hear it - is testament to the strength of its material. The
album finds Hazlewood contentedly immersing himself in Swedish life, serenading Gotland, the island Hazlewood
fell in love with during the shooting of the television movie Cowboy in Sweden and where he spent time filming
Tigers. Highlights include “The Nights,” in which Lee conjures up an epic tale of love and genocide that draws on his
Native American blood running, “Our Little Boy Blue,” a magical, sleepy lullaby, and the two versions of the stirring,
cinematic “Souls Island” frame the album; within them is held the blueprint for Richard Hawley’s solo career. Before
he died, Hazlewood and Axelman talked about the soundtrack A House Safe For Tigers, and whether it would ever
be released again. “I don’t know if anybody would be interested,” Lee said. “Maybe perhaps they are. Sometimes
we have to wait 30 years to be discovered.”

HOMER - Complete recordings CD Gearfab 13,50

three 45s are even rarer. Newly discovered tapes have uncovered unreleased songs and demos. All are included in
this comprehensive collection. A very young Christopher Cross participated on some tof the tracks of the LP.

LOS MOCKERS - Same LP Vinilisssimo 19,90
Exact reproduction of the 1966 debut album of the Uruguay band that took British influences such as Stones and
Troggs to create one of the most astounding LPs produced in South American in the 60s. If Los Shakers were The
Beatles, Los Mockers were The Stones. As solid as anything produced in London at the time due to the strong
songwriting and tight playing.

Psychedelic Visions and The Mind Expanders, here is the cheesy record company’s attempt at cashing in on
The Peace & Love Movement of the mid 1960s. In mini-LP cardboard sleeve format, this features some wild
instrumentation!!

MOTIONS - Wasted words: the havoc 45’s LP Pseudonym 19,90
When The Motions crashed into the Dutch charts at the beginning of 1965 with Its Gone, they opened the floodgates
for a tidal wave of young Dutch bands. Few of them, though, could match the pure excitement etched into the
grooves of The Motions 1965-66 singles, featuring the definitive lineup of singer Rudy Bennett, songwriter/guitarist
Robbie van Leeuwen, bass player Henk Smitskamp and drummer Sieb Warner. That magnificent procession of
songs is laid out for all to hear in dynamically remastered sound on Wasted Words: The HAVOC 45s. The raw,
frenetic thrash of Its Gone and We Fell In Love, vibrant, mournful laments like Ive Got Misery, For Another Man and
Ill Follow The Sun, the stark socially-conscious folk-rock of Wasted Words, the explosive freakbeat of Everything
Thats Mine and the sophisticated pop balladry of My Love Is Growing - all written by master songsmith (and future
Shocking Blue mastermind) Robbie van Leeuwen. The latter song so impressed co-producer Scott Walker that he
recorded it with the Walker Brothers. Pressed on 180 gram vinyl, Wasted Words features a top quality 350 gram
carton gatefold sleeve featuring rare photos and all of the original picture sleeve artwork. REMASTERED IN THE
24-BIT DOMAIN FROM THE ORIGINAL MASTER TAPES!

Norton launches its new POPULAR DEMAND SERIES with stunning covers of two Beach Boys chart toppers by
the New Surfsiders! This exciting brawny, suntanned threesome carry on the semi-musical tradition of the legendary
sixties budget album THE SURFSIDERS SING THE BEACH BOYS SONGBOOK (which featured a young Lou
Reed in full Mike Love warble on several tracks), a tradition that seemed unapproachable until now! Add some
twisted music to your day!

OMENS - Searching 7 US-SixPunk-Repro 7,50
Label: Cody! The Omens are famous for one of the hottest garage 45s of all time, “Searching,” which was recorded
on the Cody label in July 1966 backed with the fine “Girl Get Away”. ‘SEARCHING’ IS A PUNK PSYCH MONSTER,
fast tempo, with searing guitar riffs and outstanding psych organ to boot!

PERCY MAYFIELD - Louisiana 7 Jukebox Jam 8,20
A track from our imminent Jukebox Mambo comp of hot Latin R&B crossover numbers, Percy Mayfield’s ‘Louisiana’
is a typically haunting tribute to the swampy Bayou state of his upbringing, set to an energetic Creole rumba and a
cool horn riff. On the flip side, something very interesting, this the original demo version of ‘Hit The Road Jack’ as
sung acapella by Mayfield and submitted to Art Rupe at Specialty records. Specialty was winding down operations
at the time but somehow one Ray Charles got wind of the song. Ray had been a long time friend and fan of Mayfield,
and obviously heard something in the demo. He opted to record it and the rest falls into history as ‘Hit the Road Jack’
became one of Ray Charles’ biggest ever sellers and perhaps even his signature song. Few people would have
realized that the composer was such a talent in his own right, our own Percy Mayfield, ‘the poet of the blues’.

RAY ELLIS / THE SHEIKS - The sheik/baghdad rock 7 TT Shakin 8,20
UPCOMING!!! Two middle-eastern themed pieces of wild 50s dance floor exotica here, with Ray Ellis’ ‘The Sheik’
a perennial favourite among instro-freaks with it’s big production and uptempo insistent rhythm. What’s more, pitch
it down and you also have a classic Belgian popcorn spin! On the flip side, The Sheiks themselves give us their
somewhat skewed interpretation of the East with the playful ‘Baghdad Rock’, a silly but charming jaunt perfect to
accompany the most exotic of dance shows, and a novelty record for the true connoisseur!

ROSCO GORDON - Love for you baby 7 RnB-Repro 7,90
Label: Flip! Just love the second line rhythms and electrifying guitar break on this fine up-tempo blues outing on Flip,
Sam Phillips’ Sun label subsidiary. Legend has it that Gordon used to perform ‘The Chicken’ with a rooster called
‘Butch’ dressed in a suit that matched his. On Butch’s demise, however, he was unable to find a replacement for the
talented bird despite an extensive tour of the South’s hen houses.

ROY WAYNE - Honey won’t you listen 7 RnB-Repro 7,90
Label: Clif! Very scarce double-sider from Louisiana, with vocals and guitar served up just the way we like ‘em,. Aside is absolute must for rockabilly nuts and they don’t come any more primitive than Wayne’s offering on the flip.
Highly prized on original by collectors.

RUBY VELLE & THE SOULPHONICS - It’s about time LP Gemco 16,50
“It’s About Time,” a long overdue full-length album from Atlanta’s Ruby Velle & The Soulphonics brings on an
arsenal of soulful original music and poignant lyrics. The album features 10 original songs chiming in at just over 40
minutes in length, recorded on 1/2” 8 track tape by producer and keyboardist Spencer Garn. Fronting the 7 piece
powerhouse band is Ruby Velle, a Canadian born little lady of southern influence and East Indian decent, whose
voice and appearance often surprise people when they hear and see her live for the first time. Leading the pack is
“My Dear,” a powerful back-beat soul groove that sets the tone for the record and teases the listener to hear more.
Then the track “Medicine Spoon” drops into a fast paced funky drumbeat, perfect for sampling as the genre known
for. Through out the album there are medium and fast paced songs with tasteful horn arrangements and full string
ensembles featured on “The Agenda” and “Mr. Wrong.” It’s About Time the band’s foray into political commentary,
offers an epic and enormous sound mixed with meaningful, timely lyrics. Ruby Velle & The Soulphonics’ roots are
embedded in the rich sound and history of Georgia soul, beginning with the early 50’s and 60’s R&B that became
so well known around the world. Having performed countless gigs since their inception, and with a slew of 45rpm
singles already under their belts, the band has already contributed heavily to the steadily increasing awareness of
genuine rhythm and blues music that exists today. They pack clubs and festivals with their original brand of soul, all
of which is written and recorded in Atlanta.

SID KING & THE FIVE STRINGS - Purr kitty purr 7 Sleazy 7,20
Ever wonder what records Buddy Holly listened to before he started making his own music? Here’s one of them!
If these guys weren’t the first Rockabilly act, they were certainly one of the first. They were hailed by Billboard
Magazine as the Top Ranked Show Band in 1956. These five cats from Dallas did shows with Pat Boone, Jerry
Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and even Elvis Presley. If I had a time machine, I’d hop in and take a trip first to the 1950’s
to catch some Western Swing at the WFAA Shindig, then to one of the Big D Jamboree rockabilly shows at the
Sportatorium in Dallas. These days I have to get my Western Swing fix at the Station Inn on Monday Nights in
Nashville. But where can you go for some good old fashioned Rockabilly? Somebody tell me, please! Sidney Erwin
was born in Denton, Texas in 1936. He had already formed a Western Swing group called the Western Melody
Makers by the time he was 16. He got a record deal with Starday and cut a record called Who Put The Turtle In
Myrtle’s Girdle on Starday 146 in 1953. in 1956, Sid changed the name of his band to Sid King And The Five Strings
and began cutting Rockabilly sides for Columbia Records. This is one of my favorite Sid King records. Get your
dancing shoes ready! Here’s Purr Kitty Purr by Sid King And The Five Strings on Columbia 21489 from 1956.

SONNY BOY WILLIAMSON - Polly put your kettle on 7 Jukebox Jam 8,20
UPCOMING!!! Born 1914, Sonny Boy Williamson I was one of the pioneering first wave of bluesmen to achieve a
level of success and national notoriety as a recorded artist. In his all too brief life and career, Williamson popularized
harmonica blues and after landing in Chicago in 1934 became one of the key movers and influences on the cities
now infamous blues scene. Both sides here were cut in 1947 and showcase an evolving sound which was to be
tragically cut short when Williamson died a year later at the desperately young age of 34. Williamson’s influence
and popularity always remained as blues and R&B performers through the 50s and 60s continued to reference and
cover his work. ‘Polly Put Your Kettle On’ was in turn rediscovered and became something of a club favourite on the
roots music scenes of the 80s and has long since continued to light up the floor as the quintessential early ‘Blues
Bopper’. The fact that it was issued in ‘48 on 78rpm only has meant that this classic has never had a proper DJ
friendly 45rpm issue - and the same goes for the hep shuffler ‘Mellow Chick Swing’ ... Until now!

Andean music, Amazonian music, Colombian cumbia, salsa and even psychedelia intermingle in this “cannibal”
