From the Editor Naisha Ahsian @naishaahsian Greetings! The leaves are turning here on my mountain in Vermont as I put to bed this third issue of our second year of Crystal Resonance Magazine. Beyond the changing season and the smell of apples, other things are in the air as well. I'm packing my bags and boxes and preparing to move Crystal Resonance Magazine and Crystalis Institute across the country to Sedona, Arizona! The Multiverse works in mysterious ways. Just prior to my recent teaching trip to Sedona the doors abruptly slammed shut on my proposed move to Hawaii, which I had been planning for almost two years. With yet another opportunity there dissolving, it became abundantly clear that Someone had other plans for me. As is always the case when one door closes, another opened. While teaching my workshop and visiting the crystal and metaphysical stores to write the article in this issue, I was clearly reminded of why I love Sedona. Beyond the commercial aspects, it is still essentially a place where people go to work on themselves, to learn and to grow. Sometimes that work is messy. Sometimes its powerfully elevating. It is always transformational. I have spent a lot of time in Sedona over the years, but I did not think I would ever be living there. But, when the Multiverse says, "jump", you jump. The Multiverse has spoken and I'm packing my bags! I'm trusting I'll land where and when It has intended for me to be. Like the Fool in the tarot, I've got my bag over my shoulder, my little dog at my heels, and I'm whistling as I trust the Divine to help me to fly. The moral of this tale is that no matter how clear you are on your intended goals, always keep in mind that you are a cocreator, and the other co-creator in that mix knows the plan better than you do! Remain flexible, and be ready to jump when the Multiverse changes the plan. It's all good! Crystal Shopping In SedonA By Naisha Ahsian Sedona, Arizona is known the world over as a center for spirituality and amazing natural power and beauty. For over 10,000 years, it has been used as a sacred area for ritual, prayer and vision quest by the many First Nations People that have called the surrounding areas home. The area of Sedona itself was considered to be too powerful and sacred for daily living. It was, even many thousands of years ago, a destination spot for deep inner work. People travelled here for vision quest, prayer and purification; as they still do today. Cathedral Rock & Red Rock Crossing Vortex Area Bell Rock Vortex Area © Diro | Dreamstime.com © Edwin Verin | Dreamstime.com The energies of the Earth here are pronounced and varied, offering vortices of stimulating and uplifting energy, and those that facilitate deep inward reflection and exploration. Even people who don't believe in the more mystical aspects of Sedona's legends admit that this area has something going on. Over four million people pass through Sedona each year, drawn by the stunning natural beauty of the huge red rock formations that were carved eons ago by sea, and later by rain and wind. Its proximity to the Grand Canyon and Mogollan Rim, and its location within the Coconino National Forest, make it a convenient stop for the many seekers of natural beauty that flock to this part of north central Arizona. Some of these seekers are looking for more than just pretty snapshots of their vacation. They come to Sedona seeking healing, deeper self knowledge, and a greater sense of connection with the Earth and with Spirit. Sedona has been the New Age movement's equivilent of Mecca since the early 1980's. It has gone through many permutations over those years, with the human energy changing dramatically as people come Portal Guardians at the Chapel Hill Vortex Area © Davidmschrader | Dreamstime.com Schnebly Hill Vortex Area© Arlene Treiber | Dreamstime.com here to heal and be healed. However, the energy of the Earth itself here is a constant, regardless of what the tiny humans upon it are doing. This is the blessing of Sedona, and its continued promise to visitors who make pilgramage to this sacred area of land. The concentration of healers and spiritualists that make Sedona their home is a testament to the area's intensely expansive energies, which are impervious to human activity and are centered deep within the planet. Here, you can find almost any healing and spiritual modality under the sun, from traditional somatic therapies to a rainbow of vibrational healing offerings. And then, there are the crystals! Sedona and West Sedona have many great crystal shops, where you can find treasures large and small. When I first began coming to Sedona in the late 1980's, there were only a couple of crystal stores where I prowled, finding things I had never heard or dreamed of. Later on, when I began showing at the Tucson Gem & Mineral Show each February, I would escape after the show (or even during) and head up to Sedona to recharge my drained batteries. Today, it is still a crystal lover's paradise, with the opportunity to easily fill a couple of days browsing the various stores in Uptown and West Sedona. Many of the stores have been here for years and have amassed beautiful collections of larger specimens that you can enjoy (even if you can't afford them!), as well as smaller pieces for healing and meditation work. One of the best parts of crystal shopping in Sedona is that you can be sure that the store owners and staff are sympathetic to the special needs of crystal healers and those using stones for their personal growth. They, too, are here for Sedona's spiritual energies! There are two distinct areas in Sedona for crystal shopping; Uptown and West Sedona. The main road through both West Sedona and Uptown is State Route 89A. Off 89A you can find the powerful vortex areas of Boynton Canyon, Secret Canyon, Red Rock Crossing, and Airport Mesa. As you come into the Uptown area, you can take highway 179 down the hill for more great shopping, or to visit the vortex areas of Schnebly Hill, Chapel Hill, Cathedral Rock, and Bell Rock. Boynton Canyon Vortex Area© Pattonspix | Dreamstime.com We'll begin our crystal shopping excursion in Uptown, where you can walk between excellent crystal shops while taking in the gorgeous red rock views toward the vortex area of Schnebly Hill. Just off the main street (State Route 89A) on Jordan Road is Infinite Light Healing Studies Center and one of its stores, Peace Place Gifts. You may have seen ads for Infinite Light Healing Studies Center and Peace Place Gifts in previous issues of Crystal Resonance Magazine. In addition to magnificent crystals that are geared toward crystal healing, they also provide an incredible array of quartz singing bowls and other healing tools. Peace Place is also home to the Reiki Center of Sedona, offering training in several Reiki traditions, as well as Reiki Crystal Healing, sound healing and Reiki drumming. They also offer many services and treatments in their treatment center, including crystal healing. It was here that I conducted a recent Primus Activation Healing Technique Certification Workshop. Our group was truly blessed to have such a beautiful and, well, peaceful place to do our heart-centered work! One of my favorite aspects of the store and center are the many huge crystals throughout the courtyard, workshop space and store. These amazing stones are freely accessible, and you can touch, resonate, and meditate with them to your heart's content! Peace Place Gifts also offers many of their products via online shopping at their website. images © Naisha Ahsian www.peaceplacegifts.com 355 Jordan Road A block away, on the main street in Uptown are the Sedona Crystal Vortex stores, located at Canyon Breeze, Sedona Center, 300 and 270 N. State Route 89A. Having two stores on the same street allows Sedona Crystal Vortex to offer a broad range of stones, including everything from tumbled stones to large pieces for your healing space, with a broad price range to suit everyone from the crystal newbie to the confirmed addict. The very friendly staff members I spoke with informed me that there is a "hands on" policy in the store, which encourages visitors to handle the stones and to get to know them before purchasing. There is information available on each stone, to help you find just the right mineral for your needs. The two stores also offer psychic readings and channeling services. One of the readers offers consultations in Japanese, and phone readings can also be arranged. The treatments offered through the store include a variety of Massage , Reiki and other energy balancing techniques. Their main crystal store is located at 250 N. State Route 89A, next to the Fudge shop. This enriches your crystal shopping experience with the wafting scents of chocolate fudge. Need I say more? This store claims to have "the best prices in the Universe". Honestly, I didn't do any price comparisons, so I can't speak to that claim, but I can say that they have a lovely collection of stones here, with the huge Uruguayan amethyst cathedrals beaming their energy throughout the space. This store also offers Sedona Vortex Tours, psychic services, and massage and energy work, and online shopping for stones is also available. Bottom image © Spiritstonegems.com . One of these stores offers crystals and gifts, and the other focuses on large collector mineral specimens and Native American jewelry. www.spiritstonegems.com 250 & 301 N. State Route 89A From the main street in Uptown, we now head back toward West Sedona. At the first traffic circle, exit onto Highway 179 and head down the hill. On your right will be Tlaquepaque Arts & Crafts Village, and on the left will be our next stop at Crystal Enlightenment on the Creek and the Crystal & Sound Healing Center. Crystal Enlightenment on the Creek offers a variety of massage, vibrational healing and psychic services, and aura photos. They also offer great stones, of course, with an interesting variety appropriate for healing work. I found some beautiful Creedite here, which is one of my current favorites for my inner work. In the back of the building is a meditation garden with poweful (and huge!) crystals, where you can sit and relax while listening to the sound of Oak Creek, commune with your favorite new stone friend, or tune into the energies of the nearby Schnebly Hill Vortex. www.facebook.com/pages/Crystal-Enlightenment-onthe-Creek-Sedona-AZ 321 State Hwy 179 Next door is the Center for the New Age. This Sedona landmark is a department store of New Age goodies. Each room has a different focus. There is an extensive bookstore, a sacred statuary area with imported Gods & Goddesses, and rooms of healing crystals and jewelry. Through the Center for the New Age, you can book a UFO nightwatch tour or Vortex tour if you've done too much crystal shopping and want to get out and enjoy more of Sedona's magic. Center for the New Age has the largest number of on-site psychics of any store I visited. This center hosts many events, classes, evening presentations and other educational opportunities in addition to the shopping opportunities, which abound here. Online shopping is also available. www.SedonaNewAgeStore.com 341 State Route 179 All photos this page © Naisha Ahsian Heading into West Sedona from Uptown, you'll see Stone Age on your left at 1385 W. State Route 89A. This is the sister shop to Stone Age on High Street in Glastonbury, England. You can definitely sense the Glastonbury and Arthurian vibe here! The store specializes in Angel and Fairy items, and even features a beautiful fairy garden in the back of the store, where fairy statues and art peek out through the foliage. There is a good selection of magical and transformational jewelry, perfect to wear while you're doing sessions. Their selection of crystals and stones is smaller, but it is select and focused on healing and magical work. Healing sessions, massage and psychic consultations are also available. Online shopping is also available. www.stoneagesedona.com 1385 W. State Route 89A Crystal Magic is a broad spectrum store, with many gift items, statuary, candles, incense and other goodies; but it is best known for its crystals. You can find unusual gem treasures in the back room if you're willing to search for them, and often you can find things you didn't even know existed! The front of the store has some lovely specimens of the more popular and better known varieties of minerals, as well as some lovely larger pieces appropriate for your healing room. Crystal Magic doesn't have a website, so you will have to actually check them out in person. It's worth it to stop in if you're in town! 2978 W Highway 89A Ph: 928.282.1622 Believe it or not, this isn't all! There are more stores that I didn't cover here because I didn't get a chance to visit, or didn't get a response from the owners, or just plain don't know about them. However, this will give you a taste for some of the amazing crystal shopping you can experience on your next visit to Sedona! Heal the Shadow Using Crystals and Stones by Robert Coleman © 2014 Robert Coleman. All Rights Reserved. Many of us love the blissful feelings and celestial experiences that can occur when we use crystals as connections to higher vibratory realms. However, we are also all human beings enmeshed in lives that may present many problems to us, including our health, relationships, financial prosperity, and other areas. We are here in the rough-and-tumble physical world to develop a mastery of life’s experiences, not to run away from them. What we refer to as the “Shadow” simply means the challenging, painful, and denied aspects of ourselves that we would really rather not have to contend with. The Shadow develops from unacknowledged and repressed feelings such as anger over a quarrel or feelings of shame or low self-esteem. It may also contain deeply repressed traumatic experiences. The Shadow is where we hide aspects of ourselves that are true to our nature but are difficult for us to acknowledge. Societal, family, religious, and cultural belief structures can actively discourage us from genuinely experiencing ourselves as we are, or accepting the aspects of ourselves that don’t fit neatly into predetermined boxes. These aspects can literally become “demonized” and cast into the recesses of our Shadow, where they remain hidden but continue to be active in our lives. These “Shadow Selves” can manifest in our lives as failures, conflicts, obsessions, addictions, and other saboteurs. It is important to address the Shadow because many of our greatest life challenges emanate directly from this realm. Chronic problems and health issues that never seem to resolve, constant relationship and family issues, and recurring business failures all point directly to the Shadow. In fact, because our deeper spiritual selves are constantly establishing equilibrium, you will find the contents of your Shadow playing out metaphorically over and over again in the problems you face in the world. These are signposts inviting you to take action and step into your own Shadow. Clearing the Shadow can be a daunting task and, if mental, emotional, or physical symptoms are severe, should involve the assistance of qualified health professionals. The key is to take a mindful approach when processing somebody’s Shadow, including your own. Shadow Stones From a stone-worker’s perspective, stones to engage with and heal the Shadow fall into four categories: 1. Stones of grounding and absorption- examples are obsidian, black tourmaline, and smoky quartz 2. Stones of calming, healing, and soothing- examples are blue calcite, seraphinite, and amazonite 3. Stones of stimulation- including clear quartz, moldavite, labradorite 4. Stones of realization and cognition- including dendritic agate, Siberian blue quartz, honey or yellow calcite Use the stones for specific purposes according to their talents. You don’t need to use them all in every session. Stones may also cross categories: for example Siberian blue quartz can be very stimulating while also enhancing the intellect. Remember, stones can be highly subjective in the responses they evoke; always key off of the client’s (or your own) feelings when deciding which stones to use. And don’t forget to energetically clear your stones often! To conduct Shadow Healing, maintain a sustained intention to access and release your client’s Shadow at all times. Use your stones to stimulate, clear, soothe, or heal according to the needs of the session. Shadow sessions should accomplish work and be productive. If you find yourself backing off from engaging intense or difficult content with your client, conducting Shadow sessions may not be for you. Your intention should always be to bring the hidden and repressed into the light where it can be accepted and transformed. When working with the Shadow, your client may experience mild to extreme emotional releases; be ready for these. Sometimes sessions can take a long time; be patient. Avoid ending sessions early in a way that leaves your client in a fog or emotionally distressed. Get them through it. Never judge your client, always accept whatever your client experiences, and most importantly, you absolutely must hold the space for your client and keep them safe. Are you primarily interested in gently healing your client’s Shadow? If so, seraphinite or even rose quartz may be all that you need. These stones will rarely overstimulate your client, instead gently guiding them to experience their emotions and release them in their own time. A more adventurous (and risky) approach would be to first stimulate the client with a stone such as moldavite, and then as the client’s Shadow really gets moving, use a stone such as smoky quartz to draw the released energies and emotions away from the client. You could even include stones of realization and cognition to assist the client in processing and understanding their experience. I love dendritic agate for this purpose due to its very pragmatic and practical assistance. When you are conducting Shadow healing on yourself or others using stones, bear in mind that less may be more. Your client is holding their Shadow at bay because it may contain substantial suffering. Respect this, and always process somewhat lighter than you think is necessary. If you send your client in too deep, they will bog down and you will have work on your hands to get them back in balance. Although not a simple task, Shadow healing is a great work; you are moving the person through the layers of illusion and unconsciousness that fetter their Spirit and cause them to think less of themselves than they really are. It is an act of tremendous kindness to be willing to stand with a person as they face their challenges head-on. The rewards can be dramatic and life-changing. Good for you for taking it on! Networking Earth with the Crystal Grid Network by Rachel Miller ©2014 Rachel Miller. All Rights Reserved. The Crystal Grid Network is an online space for crystal and energy workers across the earth to create simultaneous crystal grids, sending light wherever it is needed. We schedule crystal grids each month, connecting our efforts to create a resonant and awakened Living Crystal Grid. As the founder of The Crystal Grid Network, I would like to share with you the background to its recent launch and some of the basics of creating a really strong, resonant crystal grid. I recently completed the Becoming a Human Crystal Program through Crystalis Institute, which has been invaluable in helping me develop a much deeper relationship with my crystal and mineral companions. I found that the more I worked with them, the easier I was able to hear them, and to understand what they needed from me. Over the last months I have found that they want to be involved. They seem to want to work with us co-creatively, and they really enjoy participating in crystal grids and running energy together. The incredible work of the Global Coherence Initiative (http://www.glcoherence.org) has proven that it is possible for people across the earth to come together and work toward a common goal – sending heart coherent love and light to wherever it is needed across the earth. It is my hope that the time is right for us to consciously work together; and together create a globally connected ‘Living Crystal Grid’. It’s really easy to create your own crystal grid – here are ‘8 Easy Steps’ to help you get started: How to Create a Crystal Grid 1. Setting a Clear Intention When creating a crystal grid it’s important to set a clear intention for the purpose of the grid: << As you build and activate your grid, think about what positive effect you would like your grid to have. 2. Selecting Your Crystals Choose the crystals and stones you would like to include in your grid: << It’s a good idea to ask your crystals who would like to participate. They will guide you to select the right stones. Sometimes they may appear in your mind as an image, or your hand might be drawn to the stones that want to ‘join in’. <You < could research which crystals and stones might be helpful in supporting the intention of your grid and include those? 3.Decide where to Build your Grid Choose a quiet place for the grid: <Think < about whether you would like to build the grid in your home, or whether you might like to create a grid outdoors; for example, in your garden, a woodland or even on a beach. <Remember < that some minerals are water-soluble and will begin to dissolve if they get wet (selenite & hanksite). So if you’re going to use water-soluble minerals in an outdoor grid, make sure its not going to rain! 4. Placing the Crystals Before you begin placing your crystals, you might want to create ‘sacred space’ by saying a few words to the earth, the ancestors, or whomever you feel you would like to honor and guide you. You may choose to use a sage smudge stick to clear the space of any vibrational ‘baggage’, and to help you center yourself first: <Allow < yourself to be guided in placing the crystals. Do you want to have a central crystal with other crystals channeling energy toward it, or away from it? Check out our website for other crystal grid pattern ideas. <Remember < that subtle energy runs through ‘terminated’ crystals, following their initial growth pattern. So for example a crystal with a natural point will run energy toward its point - its ‘termination.’ 5. Using a Pendulum Once you have placed all the crystals you want to use in the grid you may choose to use a pendulum to check that the stones and crystals are in the best place. You can do this by asking the pendulum simple questions with a yes/no answer: <Are < the crystals in this grid placed correctly? <Does < this stone need to be moved…or removed? 6. Clearing your Grid It can be useful to clear the crystals and stones in your grid using sound vibration: <You < can use Singing Bowls, Crystal Pyramids a 528hz tuning fork or other tools you have which create a positive and resonant sound vibration. <Some < people find that using a smudge stick is a good way to clear crystals. 7. Activating your Grid Many crystal workers like to connect each crystal within the grid energetically using a crystal wand by drawing energy lines between the crystals in the grid: <Reiki < is a good way to activate your grid. <Some < of us feel that sound vibration can help the crystals in the grid harmonize and create a resonant pattern. You can experiment with any of the sound tools mentioned above to activate your grid. 8. Electromagnetic Fields If the crystals and stones in your grid have been placed effectively, it will generate its own electromagnetic field. Have fun using dowsing rods to find the edge of any electromagnetic field: <If < your grid is running energy successfully, you should be able to find the edge of its electromagnetic field quite quickly. Highly resonant grids can have a very large field many feet from the edge of the grid. <Allow < your grid to run energy for some time. Try listening to the crystals on when they are ready to be removed from the grid, or when the grid should be disbanded. Be confident in your own intuition. If something doesn’t work for you first time, you can always modify your practice. Do whatever feels right! Why Create a Crystal Grid: Truly we could think of many more reasons, but we have gathered up our top 6 to encourage you to build a Crystal Grid. <1. < In the same way that Reiki and Healing Touch can produce distance-therapeutic effects, there is every possibility that crystals and crystal grids can do the same. <2. < If we work together as global citizens of the earth, there is every possibility that combined; we can have highly positive effects. <3. < By creating a crystal grid, we are actively participating in the process of co-creation with the crystal and mineral kingdom. <4. < If we practice creating strong resonant crystal grids together, whenever there is an urgent need for the earth, its living systems or its people to receive energy and light (during natural disasters or heightened states of conflict), we may be able to send that energy collectively. <5. < The creation of a crystal grid is a moment of celebration - we are alive on this beautiful planet, and engaging in a co-creative practice with crystals and minerals. <6. < For joy, because it feels good! We would love to hear how well your grid worked and see photos of your beautiful creations! Please visit us at www.thecrystalgridnetwork.com and consider becoming a member of our Resonance Team, working alongside other crystal and energy practitioners having fun with this emerging practice. This is a story of guidance, and willingness – of messages received, and surrender to what comes after. Have you ever had some kind of idea or thought or inspiration that you did not know what to do with, but couldn’t let it go? I was quite suddenly yanked into a Healing vocation about 25 years ago -- first as an energy worker, a massage therapist, and then Teacher, Facilitator, and advice column writer. I have been connected to, and working with, Crystals and Stones for most of my life. They mysteriously came to me from a myriad of places. I was unexpectedly gifted a huge Rose Quartz, a big chunk of Green Calcite, a rarified Dolomite and Calcite combo, and a gorgeous Amethyst slab. A woman I had never met came to the Crystal grid for Clarity. July 2014. center where I worked. She handed me a beautiful Clear Quartz Generator and said “I have brought you this crystal. I was told to bring it to you!” All my life, crystals have showed up for me at the most unpredictable moments! But they were always in the background of my work – not a primary healing modality. Well, to the point—ha-- the POINT, get it? A few years ago I was awakened from a deep sleep by Spirit. A sacred symbol was revealed to me. I was instructed to use for my business. When the timing aligned, I was to create a Crystal Grid Cloth with this symbol as the grid pattern. At that time, I did not even know what a Crystal Grid Cloth was. I was shown how it radiates the energy of Love and Healing frequencies that are especially beneficial to the world at this time. The symbol itself creates a “generative pulse” that transmits healing energy and intentions in both Sending and Receiving states. Its frequencies and resonance work from the Atomic level and specifically boost the energies of crystals. I recorded the symbol in my journal and frankly, forgot about it. After a while, it began to insist itself upon my awareness. Things began to line up to bring this symbol forward. I met people and found resources easily, in perfect order and timing. It was clear that an unseen force was guiding me. As soon as I began to use it in my business, people were commenting on it and talking about its effect on them. At the beginning of this year, the “Atomic Boost Crystal Grid Cloth” was born. A friend’s generous love and support gave me the confidence to finally begin to announce and demonstrate my cloth. My friend on the Wisdom & Intuition Network suggested, “Deb, why don’t you change your radio show to be about Crystal Activations?” At that moment the energy opened up with a great big whoosh, and here I am! I have always used crystals in teaching meditation and doing healing work. I have lived with my crystals, carried them, and taught others about them. But still, they were more of a personal tool for me rather than a primary modality. Since I began this “mission” for Spirit, my relationship with crystals has deepened exponentially. Now, there is so much more specificity in the communication and flow of energy. I work directly and intimately with crystals every day. I love working directly with my clients with crystals and the grid work has opened up a whole Grid for group harmony. new dimension in healing -- a path to intentional manifesting, distance healing and a way to offer evolutionary global support. I feel that the crystals have always held me in their realm, waiting until the time was right to bring me deeper by giving me a very amazing tool to work with. Last Spring was my first Crystal Grid Healing event. It was a huge success. Now, I offer Free, once-a-month, 7 Day Healing Events. Each month, while in connection with Spirit I set a grid, with a specific Intention. Folks register, and each individual’s name is read onto the Grid and placed into the Crystal Healing Bowl. There is a special event page with photos of the grid and crystals, affirmations, channeled messages and inspirations about the Intention for everyone to access and work with. Every step is a step into the unknown. My story of listening to guidance and surrendering to the flow of my life is still unfolding. This is, for me, a timely reminder that, when it is aligned for you, the way will open. Sometimes a crystal will just fall into your hands, so be open and ready to receive. If you are feeling inspired in a new direction, Trust, have loads of Faith and more than a pinch of Confidence that you are on the right path. And always, always, grab a crystal or two or lots, for the journey. The violet Flame and Sound My favorite Ways to Clear Crystals by Tina Marie Christensen © 2014 Tina Marie Christensen. All Rights Reserved. Clearing and cleansing crystals is an act of love for me. It’s like feeding my cats really yummy chicken breast with sweet potato, or dancing and singing with the potted ficus in our living room. The act of clearing crystals feels not only deeply nourishing and supportive to my crystal partners, it also helps deepen my connection with them. Let’s begin! The Setting I prefer doing this process outdoors, where energy can flow freely on the breeze, and Gaia can have direct access to the stones as well. However, it’s not necessary! And certainly during the winter months weather doesn’t always permit doing this outside. The Sound I have a Tibetan bell and dorje that I use to clear the crystals. The bell chimes to the note F#, which resonates to the frequencies of peace, balance, and harmony—perfect qualities for the stones I interact with. I place the stones on a terra cotta plant saucer (they can also be placed directly on the grass/ground) and after a few deep, grounding breaths, I chime the bell three times over the crystals. The initial rush of energy this creates often leaves me breathless, but in a good, whoa-that’s-really-cleared kind of way. The Violet Flame Following the clearing with the bell, I call on Saint Germaine, who is an ascended master and keeper of the Violet Flame. I splay my hands over the crystals and ask Saint Germaine and the Violet Flame to clear, cleanse, transmute, and transform any residual lower or negative vibrations from all levels of the stones. All of the stones I have used the Violet Flame on love this! It’s like an energetic spa bath for them, and I feel that even self-clearing stones like selenite can benefit from an occasional visit to the Violet Flame spa. If you have concerns about using the Violet Flame on certain crystals, then I would just ask the crystals if it’s okay. If it feels constrictive to move forward with it, then I wouldn’t. If it feels like an open path, then go for it. Once I feel a ‘click’ or a sense of completion with the cleansing, I then thank Saint Germaine and dissolve or release the Violet Flame. The Divine Love Infusion I work with many angels, archangels, and ascended masters who I collectively call my Seraphim Symphony. For the final part of this process, aka the icing on the crystal cake, I call on a few archangels from the Seraphim Symphony to team up with me to infuse the crystals with divine love. The archangels I call on are: -Archangel Gabrielle: for joy and love -Archangel Michael: for power and purpose -Archangel Raphael: for wellness and vitality -Archangel Jophiel: for creative inspiration -Archangel Sandalphon: for his supportive link with Gaia and stones This final step in the process of clearing and cleansing crystals is a really beautiful, really powerful heart-centered action. Again splaying my hands over or around the crystals, I call on the archangels and ask them to assist me in infusing the stones with divine love. At this point the energy typically rises like a magnificent wave from my heart and the presence of the archangels, and then wanes like a tide gently rolling out to sea. The waning feeling is when I know the process is complete. And that’s it! The crystals are now quite resonant with their highest frequencies and infused with divine love. They are ready for anything! About Tina Marie Tina Marie Christensen is a spark of Love in human form (as we all are!), and re-membering this and incorporating it into her daily life is one of her deepest joys and greatest challenges. Though Tina Marie does not currently feel called to be a crystal healer, crystals are nonetheless a beloved part of her family, and she is especially gifted at connecting beautiful souls with their perfect crystal partners. All Rights Reserved. Medical experts agree that thyroid conditions seem to be on the rise. The causes, although still uncertain for sure, are thought to be linked to a variety of triggers such as environmental toxins and pollution, an increase in auto-immune diseases, radiation exposure, an increase in viral and bacterial illnesses linked to thyroid disease, smoking, gluten intolerance, and eating too many foods with high soy or iodine content. With so many people being affected by thyroid conditions, it is imperative that healers and energy workers know how to help energetically support this growing health crisis. Crystal healing is a great way to complement and enhance the treatment you are receiving from your physician. For most people, treatment will be an ongoing process because most thyroid conditions are chronic issues and are not reversible. Crystals can be used to balance the energy relating to the condition itself (as well as the outward symptoms), by working to bring your energy body into alignment, while the physical body is being treated by your physician. This combination of traditional and alternative approaches to healing will help to heal your whole self, both the energetic and physical bodies, so that you receive the greatest possible benefit. The four most common thyroid disorders are Hashimoto’s Disease (the most common cause of hypothyroidism - under active thyroid), Grave’s Disease (the most common cause of hyperthyroidism - over active thyroid), goiter (enlarged thyroid), and thyroid nodules (cancerous or non-cancerous growths on the thyroid). Since each of these conditions has different symptoms and causes, the crystals used to support you will vary. Hashimoto’s Disease & Under-Active Thyroid: Because Hashimoto’s Disease is an auto-immune disease, Carnelian or Serpentine can be used to balance the energy of your immune system. Try wearing a piece of Carnelian or Serpentine jewelry (especially a pendant on a short chain near the thyroid gland) to get the immune system back into alignment so that it no longer disrupts thyroid function. The pendant should be worn continuously and should be cleansed regularly, at least once per week, to ensure maximum benefit to your immune system. Amber, Bloodstone, Clear Calcite, Orange Calcite, Tangerine Calcite, Lapis Lazuli, Malachite, Black Tourmaline, Turquoise, and Vanadinite have also been known to balance the energy of the immune system so they would make good alternative choices to the Carnelian or Serpentine. The symptoms of Hashimoto’s Disease are quite varied and often mimic symptoms associated with other health problems. Fatigue, ranging from mild to severe, and sleepiness are very common in people with Hashimoto’s Disease. Getting your immune system back into balance will often help reduce the fatigue associated with this condition, so using the Carnelian or Serpentine, as described above, is a great way to help support the you if you are experiencing chronic fatigue. However, for those days when you feel particularly sluggish, try using a piece of Ruby or Garnet (carried in your pocket) as a quick and easy pick-me-up. Citrine has also been shown to be beneficial for balancing the energy related to chronic fatigue and tiredness, so it would make a good alternative choice to the more expensive Ruby or Garnet stones. Because Hashimoto’s patients feel constantly run-down due to fatigue, depression is a common secondary symptom of the disease. Orange Calcite, Yellow Fluorite, Lapis Lazuli, Fire Opal, Pyrite, Lithium Quartz, Rutilated Quartz, and Tiger’s Eye (Blue, Golden, or Red) have all been used successfully for energetic support of those suffering from depression and its associated symptoms. You may try holding one of these stones over your Sacral Chakra (your emotional center) or over your Solar Plexus Chakra (the center where negative emotion is most commonly stored) for 15 minutes per day, everyday, for at least three to four weeks. Be sure to speak with your physician about treatment options for your depression (especially if it is moderate to severe). Instead of holding the stone over the chakra centers, meditating with your chosen crystal can also help you to work through your depression. Make yourself comfortable in a place where you will not be disturbed and hold the crystal in your hands. Take a deep breath in and exhale gently. As you exhale, feel yourself releasing any feelings or emotions that are not for your highest good. Continue to breathe in and out, releasing any unwanted energy as you exhale, until all negative emotion has been released. Take another deep breath in and feel the energy of your crystal begin to enter your physical body. It fills you up with positive energy. Continue to breathe in and out, allowing the positive energy from the crystal to expand outward, until it fills your entire physical body. Continue this breathing with your crystal, feeling the positive energy begin to expand out into your energy field, until it has filled your entire aura with positive, healing energy. When you feel ready you can slowly open your eyes, wiggle your toes, and drink a glass of water to ground yourself. Constipation is a more minor side-effect of Hashimoto’s Disease, but can be quite uncomfortable if it is chronic. To get things moving again, try using an Apricot Botswana Agate. You can hold the stone over your belly for 2-3 minutes before and after each meal time. You may even want to try moving it in small circles while holding the intention to ease discomfort and regulate your system. Additionally, you may want to try stones associated with healthy digestion such as Ametrine, Golden Calcite, Honey Calcite, Carnelian, Citrine, Yellow Fluorite, Red Garnet, Gaspeite, Pink Heulandite, Red Jasper, Apple Aura Quartz, Papaya Quartz, Sunstone, Imperial Golden Topaz, or Green Zoisite. Dry skin and hair are also commonly associated with Hashimoto’s Disease. Green Aventurine is useful for alleviating skin problems in general, as are Brazilianite and Rainbow Fluorite. Pink Calcite, Pink Chalcedony, & Peach Stilbite may also prove useful for returning skin or hair to its normal, healthy appearance. Women with Hashimoto’s Disease may also suffer from heavy or irregular menstrual periods. Citrine, Peach Moonstone, Rainbow Moonstone, and White Moonstone can help energetically regulate menstruation. Wearing a gemstone bracelet made from one of these stones is a simple way to help keep your body on a regular cycle. It’s best to wear the bracelet all the time (if possible), but wearing it at least during the time of your cycle (starting a few days before it begins and continuing to wear it until a few days after it has ended) is necessary for effective results. Heavy menstruation can sometimes lead to anemia (iron deficiency) which can cause feelings of coldness, even when others are warm and comfortable. It can be uncomfortable and irritating to feel constantly cold in your body. Green Apatite, Hematite, and Green Kyanite can energetically aid your body's ability to absorb and use appropriate levels of iron in the body (reducing the anemia and thus, reducing the coldness felt in the body). If coldness is felt, but your iron levels are shown to be normal, Clear Fluorite may be used to help warm your body when you are feeling cold. Goiter is also sometimes associated with Hashimoto’s Disease. See the “Thyroid Goiter & Enlarged Thyroid” section below for more information about supporting thyroid goiter with crystals. Grave’s Disease & Over-Active Thyroid: Similar to Hashimoto’s Disease, the symptoms of Grave’s Disease are quite varied and often mimic symptoms associated with other health problems. Anxiety and nervousness are common symptoms of Grave’s Disease. I have helped emotionally support many clients with anxiety problems over the years and the two stones that seem to work best for most people are Aquamarine and Lepidolite. Having a small “touchstone” in your pocket that you can hold when you start to feel anxious is a quick way to help you cope with your feelings. You can rub the stones with your fingers and thumb (similar to a worry stone) to stimulate the reflex points in the thumbs and release happy hormones into your body. This action, when combined with conscious control of the breath has worked wonders for my clients time after time. Purple Botswana Agate, Alexandrite, Epidote, Yellow Fluorite, White Opal, Electric Blue Aura Quartz, and Lithium Quartz have also proven useful for alleviating anxiety and nervousness. Another symptoms frequently experienced by Grave’s Disease sufferers is irritability. Blue Calcite, Dumortierite, Sikhote-Alin Meteorite, Pink Dendritic Opal, Blue Tara Quartz (Quartz with Blue Tourmaline Inclusions), Cobalt Aura Quartz, Ruby-Kyanite, Red Rutilated Quartz, Septarian Nodule, and Violet Tourmaline are all useful for removing anger and irritability and replacing it with compassion, understanding, and peace. These stones help get your emotions under control and allow you to see the situation for what it really is, removing your irritation with the person or people involved. Fatigue is also sometimes associated with Grave’s Disease. See the “Hashimoto’s Disease & UnderActive Thyroid” section above for more information about reducing fatigue and tiredness with crystals. Increased or irregular heartbeat may not occur in all people with Grave’s Disease, but it is a fairly common symptom of this disorder. This can be quite a frightening experience, leading to additional feelings of anxiety which can exacerbate the heart issue. Apricot Botswana Agate, Green Aventurine, Barite Rose, Dioptase, Green Heulandite, Pink Opal, Pink Nirvana Quartz, Seriphos Quartz, and Peach Stilbite all work to correct and heal disorders of the heart. Green Heulandite has the additional quality of aiding the removal of excess energy from the heart center ( which may be the energetic cause of this symptom). If you have an increased or irregular heartbeat, you should immediately seek medical attention, but these crystals may be useful to help keep you calm while you are in route to your physician or to the hospital. Excessive sweating is a more minor symptom of this thyroid disorder, but it can be uncomfortable, embarrassing, or even lead to dehydration if not attended to properly. Apricot Botswana Agate can help you bounce back from the effects of minor dehydration on an energetic level while you work with your physician to restore the correct level of fluids and electrolytes to your physical body. Diarrhea and frequent bowel movements are also common in Grave’s patients and can also lead to dehydration. You can use the Apricot Botswana Agate, as described above, to help energetically assist you in recovering from your dehydration. However, to work on bowel issues, Green Zoisite can be very useful. Carry a piece in your pocket to help restore balance in your body. Because of the primary symptoms associated with Grave’s Disease, many Grave’s patients have secondary symptoms such as difficulty sleeping. Chrysoprase can encourage restful sleep and Howlite can help you to feel more rested after even brief period of sleep. White Opal encourages healthy sleep patterns so that you can return to a normal sleep cycle. Sleeping Beauty Turquoise helps to balance the energy relating to sleep disorders (especially insomnia). Any of these crystals may help you sleep better simply by placing them in your pillow case or on your bed side table. Since you will be using them daily, be sure to cleanse them regularly (at least once per week) for best results. Change in the menstrual cycle of women suffering from Grave’s Disease are commonly reported. See the “Hashimoto’s Disease & Under-Active Thyroid” section above for more information about energetically regulating your menstrual cycle using crystals. Goiter is also sometimes associated with Grave’s Disease. See the “Thyroid Goiter & Enlarged Thyroid” section below for more information about working with crystals for thyroid goiter. Some people with Grave’s Disease may suffer from a variety of eye issues including bulging, inflammation, redness, tearing, swollen eyelids, or sensitivity to light. Clear Calcite, Chrysoprase, Citrine, Emerald, Blue Tara Quartz (Quartz with Blue Tourmaline Inclusions), Seriphos Quartz, Tiger’s Eye (Blue, Golden, or Red), and Turquoise are all general eye healers. Small, lightweight stones may be placed on closed eyelids (or just above the eyes on the brow if the eyes are too sensitive to place stones there) for 3-5 minutes, twice per day, until the symptoms subside. This energy healing technique has been shown to be most effective when both eyes were worked on at once, but if this is not possible, you may work with one eye, and then the next. Thyroid Goiter & Enlarged Thyroid: Thyroid goiter (an enlarged thyroid) is most commonly caused by a lack of iodine in the diet. You should work with your physician and a nutritionist to ensure that you are getting proper nutritional requirements, but you can also use healing crystals to help you energetically absorb the appropriate vitamins, minerals, and nutrients from the foods you eat. Golden Cat’s Eye Apatite, Peach Barite, Brazilianite, Leopard Skin Jasper, Marble Jasper, Green Kyanite, Peach Moonstone, Chlorite-Included Quartz, Papaya Quartz, Sunshine Aura Quartz, Serpentine, and Vanadinite all aid in nutrient absorption while Bornite aids in balancing the nutrients to the right levels for your body. These stones can be easily utilized by wearing a piece of jewelry (programmed to aid in nutrient absorption and regulation) or by carrying a stone in the pocket. Alternatively, you may want to create a small crystal grid using one or more of the stones listed, and then charge your food within the grid. To do this, simply place your plate, bowl, or glass within the center of the grid for 1-2 minutes prior to eating while holding the intention that the food is charged with the energy of the crystals. When you consume the food, eat with intention and purpose, allowing the food to nourish your physical body and provide that which is needed for your highest good. When the thyroid is enlarged, it can often cause additional symptoms such as swelling or tightness in the neck or trouble swallowing. Honey Amber works to soothe the thyroid gland while Blue Fluorite, Blue Topaz, and Blue Calcite add cooling energy to reduce swelling. Wearing these stones in a pendant on a short chain, close to the neck is best. However, an alternative way to get some relief is to hold your chosen stone over the thyroid gland for 5-10 minutes, 2-3 times per day as needed. An enlarged thyroid can also result in coughing or wheezing, trouble breathing, or hoarseness. Honey Amber and Honey Calcite can reduce coughing whereas Rose Quartz aids in opening the lungs to reduce wheezing. Blue Fluorite, Blue Topaz, and Denim Lapis soothe the throat in general, making it easier to deal with these associated symptoms. To use these stones, hold your chosen crystal over the throat chakra as symptoms occur. The Rose Quartz can be held over the Heart Chakra (over the lungs), over the thymus, or over the Throat Chakra to open the lungs and aid your ability to breathe easily. Thyroid Nodules & Thyroid Growths (cancer is rare): Although the cause of thyroid nodules is often unknown, some nodules may be caused by Hashimoto’s Disease or by a iodine deficiency. See the “Hashimoto’s Disease & Under-Active Thyroid” section above for more information about using crystals to work with Hashimoto’s. See the “Thyroid Goiter & Enlarged Thyroid” section above for more information about using crystals for regulating iodine. Thyroid nodules can cause hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism, so they are often undiagnosed by physicians until they are quite large and then detected via a physical examination of the thyroid. If the nodules are causing hyperthyroidism, then they can be responsible for causing several uncomfortable symptoms including rapid heart rate, nervousness, and anxiety. See the “Grave’s Disease & Over-Active Thyroid” section above for more information about ways to alleviate these symptoms. The nodules may also be responsible for increased appetite or loss of body weight. These seemingly contradictory symptoms mimic symptoms of other illnesses and often lead to misdiagnosis by physicians until the nodules have grown quite large. Angelite can be used to control body weight, especially when you are rapidly losing weight at an unhealthy rate. Carry a piece in your pocket or wear as a bracelet to help regulate your body’s weight. To help regulate the appetite, we suggest using Blue or Green Apatite crystals placed on your dining table or in your dining area. Clammy skin is also associated with thyroid nodules. Colorless Fluorite may be used to warm the body while Apricot Botswana Agate can regulate perspiration. Hold these crystals in your receiving (nondominant) hand when you’re feeling a bit clammy and visualize yourself returning to a comfortable state of being. This may take anywhere from 2-10 minutes. You may do this as often as needed. If the nodules are causing hypothyroidism (a result of Hashimoto’s Disease) or if you are experiencing the symptoms associated with the disease (fatigue, weight gain, hair loss, dry skin, or constant coldness) see the “Hashimoto’s Disease & Under-Active Thyroid” section above for more information. General Energy Healing Options for Thyroid Conditions: If you suspect that you may have a thyroid condition, but have not yet confirmed this with your physician, it is important to get an accurate diagnosis as quickly as possible. In the mean time, you may use healing stones like Angelite, Blue Apatite, Citrine, Blue Fluorite, Lapis Lazuli, Rutilated Quartz, and Blue Topaz, which are all beneficial for general thyroid balance. Alternatively, you can create a “mojo bag” or medicine pouch for energetically supporting each thyroid condition, using one stone for each of the symptoms associated with that particular condition.
