Welcome to Bellingham Technical College. BTC offers a wide range of degrees and certificates designed
to help you start a new career or allow you to transfer to a four-year college or university. This includes
Business, Health Sciences, Computer Networking, Advanced Manufacturing, Automotive and more. We
partner closely with industry on all of our program standards in order to offer you an education that
prepares you to enter the competitive workforce. Our college has recently added a Bachelor of Applied
Science in Operations Management and expanded our engineering degree pathways, making BTC an
engineering hub in our community.

3 Review
BTC is ready to review student’s application after all elements
are met and worksheets are completed and turned in.
4 Awarding
Students are awarded the maximum amount for all available
grants. Students will receive an email to check their awards on
the Portal. Students wishing to apply for loans need to contact
the Financial Aid office at [email protected] for next steps.
5 Awards Released
Awards are released when the quarter begins. Awards will be
released according to the option you have chosen when you
activated the My BTC Card. Higher One will notify you by email
or mobile alert when your refund is available.
We recommend that students begin the application process at least
two months prior to the below suggested dates for best results.

Degree- or certificate-seeking students need
to determine their math and English starting
points. Placement may be determined using
previous transcripts, placement tests you have
already taken, or by taking the ACCUPLACER test.
Need to test? We recommend you refresh and
review your skills before you test. Go to

Attend New Student Orientation Kick-Off!
New students are required to attend the New
Student Orientation Kick-off before the quarter
begins. The three-hour event is for students
to make connections, learn about resources,
meet faculty, take a tour of the program areas,
and attend an optional Computer Boot Camp.

to residency requirements.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE ACQUISITION (ELA)
ELA classes are for students who need to improve their English skills to enroll in college or
succeed in the workplace or American culture. Placement testing is required.
A new version of the GED is in place in WA state and is offered exclusively on computers.
Past test scores do not transfer to the new test. New GED examinees and examinees
that did not successfully complete all GED tests before 2014 may register for exams
by going online at www.ged.com. The new version of the GED contains four subject
areas: Reasoning through Language Arts, Mathematical Reasoning, Science, & Social
Studies. Each exam is $30, payable via credit or debit card at time of registration. Contact
Transitional Studies if you need assistance with test registration or payment.
GED exams are generally offered each weekday. Schedules are available online at time
of registration. GED candidates must be at least 16 years of age. Those 19 years of age
or younger must bring a completed Request for Approval to Test form (available at high
school main offices). Candidates must present government-issued photo ID at time of
testing. Further information regarding test site location, transcripts, accommodations,

This is a great introductory class for anyone who would like to try welding for the first
time. The instructor will lead you through the steps to begin welding safely and successfully. Students should wear appropriate work clothes and leather shoes or boots. No
synthetic fabrics allowed. Bring safety glasses, leather gloves and hat. Equipment and
supplies will be provided, but students may bring their own welding helmet, if desired.

(GMAW & GTAW), metallurgy, safety, and fabrication technologies required for marine
applications. Guided by an industry professional, students will learn the basics of wire
feed set-up, operation, technique, and TIG welding applications, including the most current technology in pulse and pulse-on-pulse equipment used in the aluminum fabricating industry. BTC Welding is now an internationally accredited AWS (American Welding Society)
welding qualification testing facility. We currently have two AWS CWIs on staff who
are qualified to conduct AWS and WABO welder certification testing. Testing is by

brush-up practice prior to testing is also available. $500 (or $800 for Seismic & GGR)
