Section I:
-Emily Brent and Vera Claythorne go for a walk. What does Emily
Brent reveal to Vera? How does Vera feel toward Emily Brent after
hearing this story?

Chapter 7:
Section I:
-Emily Brent tells Vera about Beatrice.
Beatrice worked for Emily Brent. She thought she was a nice
girl, but was very upset to find out that she wasn't. Brent says,
"She was a loose girl, with no morals. Disgusting! It was some time
before I found out that she was what they call 'in trouble,'"(100).
This means Beatrice was pregnant. She was not married, so Brent
felt that she was a sinner. Her parents turned her away and so did
Emily Brent. As a result, Beatrice drowned herself.
Vera is horrified by Emily Brent's story. She thinks she is a terrible
person.
In your opinion, is Emily Brent guilty of killing Beatrice Taylor? Why
or why not?

come. What is his reasoning? Is this believable?

reflect?
He confesses to killing Richmond! He speaks of his guilt and the relief he
feels. The weight has been lifted from him. He is at peace.

ch 7&8
Section V
Armstrong begins to see Macarthur as a mad man. Clearly unstable. But
then he sees Lombard.
-"Climbs like a cat, doesn't he?" and "I should think he must have
done some mountaineering in his time." (119)
First Lombard is compared to a panther (37), now he is compared to a
cat. What kind of characteristics do these animals have? What are
they implying.
ch 7&8
They conclude that NO ONE else is on the island except for them
Reflection:
How does this change things? How would you feel?
