Our toy library is open every other Tuesday and some Fridays at the P.E.S.T.S. play
session from 10.30 – 11.30 am. Please see our timetable for exact dates. Parents are
welcome to drop in even if they do not want to attend the play session itself.
The purpose of our toy library is to give parents the chance to take toys home for a
small charge that are specifically suited to their needs. You can then keep the toy until
the date of the next toy library session 2 weeks later. We have attempted to categorise
the toys as follows but this is only a rough guide and many toys fall into more than one
category.

this information may become out of date. Please ask if you would like help in finding a

Electronic Cash Register
Have fun at the check-out!! You could learn about basic maths skills. This toy includes:

A see-through bag with various “medical equipment” (stethoscope, plastic scissors etc).
Promotes imaginative play and communication skills. Hours of fun with this toy!

Fire Engine Toy
This toy promotes imaginative play, communication and fine
motor skills. Two toy firemen are included and it sounds just
like the real thing! (Batteries included)
Noah’s Ark
Have a fun time with the animals on the ark. Encourages fine motor skills, imaginative
play and communication.
Cooking Set
This set comprises of a DVD (“Big Cook Little Cook”), a cookery book, mixing bowl and
various spoons. It encourages parent-child interaction, social skills and learning about
cooking. Anything from small cakes to pasta dishes.
“Ben” (Large Puppet)
Nice and cuddly toy. Ben is a high quality puppet whose
hands fit like gloves so he can be used to do Makaton or
play with toys. Mouth can also be moved. Encourages
speech and imaginative play.

My First Kitchen
Every child wants to become a better cook at making breakfast! This min-kitchen comes
apart for better storage and includes: 1 frying pan , 1 spatula, salt and pepper.

GROSS MOTOR SKILLS
Pull-along-caterpillar and book
“The Very Hungry Caterpillar”. The story-book is included with this Pull-along
Caterpillar. It will encourage physical skills (i.e. walking) and parent-child interaction.

Press the green button while you walk along and this toy will release
bubbles. It comes with a bubble solution in separate container and
batteries are included. Encourages physical, social and fine motor skills.
Go Wheelie
Hours of fun with this very popular push along toy. Children steer
the wheel which makes a clicking sound as it revolves.

Animal Touch and Feel Jigsaw Puzzle
Play with a 4-piece touch and feel puzzle and learn about animals. The puzzle has
different textures such as soft wool and shiny metal.

vehicle you like around the maze! Encourages
fine motor skills and speech. Pieces and

Bright and colourful, new toy, encourages fine motor skills.
Children put colourful wooden spinners in top of toy and

Playdough bucket
Have plenty of fun with this play dough bucket! This green bucket contains 4 tubs of
play dough and various equipment to use with the play dough. Encourages imaginative,
social and congnitive skills as well as fine motor skills.
Wooden ABC
A children’s classic! Learn the alphabet or the numbers with
this wooden frame. It encourages imagination, social and
cognitive skills.
Baby Rattle
Will keep any baby entertained! This toy has various
shapes and rattles in a brightly coloured triangle shape.

Shape sorting lorry
A shape sorting toy that looks like a lorry. Will bring plenty of
fun sorting out shapes.

Fruit Threader
This toy includes a set of chunky wooden fruit (cherries,
oranges, pears etc) and a wooden “needle” to make threading
easier.
Magnetic Colour Maze
A solid magnetic maze with an attached magnetic wand. Children
can use the wand to sort the balls into the coloured paint pots. All
balls stay inside the toy.
Animal Shape Sorter
A wooden red bus with 20 named animal shapes to sort.
Farm Sound Puzzle
Puzzle consists of two cubes. When the two cubes are places in
the frame and the farm animal picture matches the puzzle makes
the sound of the animal.

Sensory Liquid Set
A set of 3 small “egg timer” shaped flasks that allow
drops to fall and bubbles to form. Very Soothing.
The liquid bubble timers come in green, blue and
red. These are not timers as the time it takes for
the bubbles to drip through can vary.

“Something Special-Mr Tumble” DVDs (“Favourite Things” and “Out and About”)
Every child’s favourite! Watch with your
parents and have lots of fun seeing what Mr
Tumble gets up to! These DVD’s, from the
original series, also introduce Makaton,
especially the singing session. Ideally suited
for children with communication and learning
difficulties.
