Controls matter How can I control my shutters The operation time for a single shutter can vary from 20 ~ 50 seconds, this can have a vast impact on the time taken to secure a building, by grouping the operation of shutters, the operation time can be dramatically reduced. Shellcast‘s technical team can assist in the arrangement of controls to ensure that all control scenarios are explained. F US E 230V Single hard wired switch Benefits of remote control Shutter operation hard wired via single switch location. The shellcast switch stops operation then the switch is released to ensure rapid controlled response. Dual hard wired switch Control two shutters individually from a single location. Key switch hard wired switch Key switch (Flush or surface mounted) Can be used externally or internally for a secured operation. Recommended in areas that include the public, children or fire exits. Switch finish P13 Single operation Single zone Four zone Radio controlled operation Fire exits must not be obstructed by a security shutter when a building is occupied. Shellcast recommends that any shutter over a fire exit should have a internal manual override and the control to be secured for trained operatives only, via key switch or remote control. Group as many shutters as necessary from one location or multiple locations, you can alter the location and number of operations easily without rewiring. Twenty zone Manual override operation. This feature allows the operation of the shutter if power has been lost, allowing the occupant to secure the building without requiring to wait for power to resume. It is a mandatory requirement for shutters over vital openings such as fire escapes. Remote control is simple and economic to install, no wiring between motors and switches means an easy economic install. Remote control is secure: with 16 million combinations of radio encryptions the units are completely secure. Remote control utilizes a narrow band width so there is no interference with mobile phones, televisions, wi-fi, Bluetooth, etc. As your needs change, the operational points and locations can be altered with ease. Remote control tubular motors gives limitless combination of operation scenarios. Group operation Group as many shutters as necessary from one location. Battery operation for when power has failed. Switches can be provided in many finishes, please ask for a full listing. Portfolio Shellcast can offer battery units to operate vital shutters when power has failed. This battery has been developed specifically for the roller shutter market so it achieves a 100 day standby and can operate a shutter up to eight cycles. Thermal control Automation of shutters to control the room climate. When using solar protection devices in the building the shutters automatically react to the adjusted solar radiation threshold all year round. Safety edge system (radio control system for doors) In line with the new CE directive, Shellcast can supply radio controlled systems to avoid accidental operation on to objects or persons that may cause damage or injury. P15 Portfolio P16 LINTEL COVER Lintel Shutter External Shutters Gates and Bars Slat Types Controls Colours Lintel Cover Fire/Environment Portfolio Fire proof board Shellboard DID YOU KNOW? A paintable fire proof board to ensure the protection of the structural lintel. Why do I need Shellboard Shellcast have researched and developed the perfect shutter access panel for our lintel system. As part of Building Regulations you may well know that any structural element of the building must be protected from fire. All Shellcast shutters use tubular motors concealed within the shutter housing which is out of sight and boasts a five year parts warranty. Air tight seal A compressive seal to ensure no air leaks. Insulation Insulation board to achieve a ‘U’ value that is required. Non conductive backing boards are essential to the design of the lintel shutter system. To minimise cold bridging the backing board should be insulated. Some manufacturers cover their lintels with a steel plate, this can cause dampness to occur with in the housing and therefore condensation, in extreme circumstances this may soil the decor with water ingress. Bottom board Shellboard insulation Our composite board can be fixed to the underside of the shutter housing. The Shellcast shellboard come with 12.5mm insulation as standard to minimise physical size of the shutter housing, greater insulation thickness can be achieved depended upon application criteria. Description Shellcast insulated board is a high performance, 100% ozone friendly, extruded polystyrene, rigid board insulation. In what application can fire shutters be used? Shutters will form a significant part of a buildings ability to control the temperature variations. By specifing a light coloured shutter you will be preventing heat radiation and the suns direct contact with the glazing , subsequently the room can be cooled by up to 9 degrees, thus a considerable saving in active cooling systems and reducing the carbon footprint of a buildings operation. For more information on this subject please contact our technical team. Fire shutters can prevent fire spreading through a building. Fire shutters automatically close to contain the spread of fire, other shutters can also be automatically opened to ensure ease of escape. Fire/Environment Portfolio DID YOU KNOW? That Fire escape shutter controls must be secured to prevent miss-use of operation and cause hinderance of the escape route. Tested to B.S 476 Part 22, Clause 8 Electronic operation Increase glazing in your building without suffering the thermal gain, consequently reduceing the cost of artifical light. Tubular motor design for a compact appearance Reducing air conditioning requirements saving hundreds of pounds/year. 240v single phase for ease of installation Linked to fire alarm system An aid to lowering C02 emissions and carbon footprint. Control solar gain: New projects use techniques of positioning glazing on south facing walls for solar gain of heating and optimising natural light.
