Following up its successful organization of the IHPC and the IHPS series, this joint conference focuses on topics Professor Joon Hong Boo related to heat pipe and thermosyphon developments, and Conference Chair provides a forum for exchange of up-to-date information and experiences among scientists and engineers from around the world. The Conference is the most valuable opportunity for all participants from industry and academia to share their professional knowledge and to promote friendship with experts. It can be reached within an hour wherever you are on the Jeju Island. Various types of 380 guest rooms which command a magnificent view of mountains and the sea are in place awaiting their guests. Besides, attached facilities such as the convention center which can accommodate up to 1,200 people, small and medium-sized seminar rooms, health club, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, and hot spa, etc. guarantee successful business transactions and comfortable amenities to its guests. Floor Plan 8 Registration Participants can register on-site during the conference. And registration desk is set up on the 2nd floor of Ramada Plaza Jeju Hotel during the conference. Registration is divided into ‘Full’ registration and ‘One-day Pass’ registration. Categories Full Registration Fee Regular Registrant $850 Student $500 Accompanying Person $350 One-day Pass Registration Fee $400 Regular Registrants: • All authors and co-authors are expected to register as ‘Regular registrants’, unless they can be categorized as students (please see below). • Participants from industry, private and governmental research and development laboratories, independent consultants and technical managers, etc. are also expected to register as ‘Regular registrants’. • Registration fee of the ‘Regular registrants’ includes admission to all technical sessions, exhibition, coffee breaks, lunches, welcome reception, banquet, conference tour, and a conference kit including a program book. Students: • ‘Students’ normally mean graduate students and interns/temporary employees of universities/research organizations. Students should be able to present a valid student ID/certificate during registration. • Registration fee of the ‘Student registrants’ includes admission to all technical sessions, exhibition, coffee breaks, lunches, welcome reception, banquet, conference tour, and a conference kit including a program book. Accompanying Persons: • Accompanying persons denote family members and friends of regular registrants, whose name should be identified at the time of registration. Authors and co-authors may not be regarded as accompanying persons. • Registration fee of the accompanying person includes admission to welcome reception, exhibition, banquet, conference tour, a family program with lunches, and a conference kit for the accompanying person. One-day Pass Registrator: • Registration fees of the One-day Pass include admissions to technical sessions, exhibition, coffee breaks, and lunches, only for the specified participating day. Beer will be provided along with snacks and light food for greetings and free talking in an informal environment. All participants are welcome. Opening Ceremony Opening Ceremony is held at the Ballroom2 (2F) from 08:20 to 09:00 on Monday June 13. Conference Tour & Jeju Dinner On Tuesday, June 14, exiting Conference Tour is waiting for you. We provide every participant with a halfday tour around the most typical spots to enjoy the nature of Jeju island. The tour consists of two course options: East Jeju and West Jeju. There will be courtesy bus service for participants of the tour. The bus will be set out at 12:40 on front of Ramada Plaza Jeju Hotel. You can check more details at registration desk. Jeju Dinner will be provided as the last event of the Conference Tour. Participants can enjoy local food with special flavor in local restaurant (Jinju sik-dang). In terms of participants who want to attend Jeju dinner without participating for the Conference Tour, we recommend you take taxi to get the restaurant. A formal ceremony will be hosted by the International Conference Committee. Invited guests, regular participants and accompanying persons are cordially invited to the full dinner event. A cultural performance will be provided by the Local Organizing Committee for entertainment. The Conference award will be given during the banquet. It is a tradition of the heat pipe society that every participating country presents her own performance. Please note that the session chair and review panel will be monitoring all poster no shows, therefore for the papers to be reviewed for journal publications at least one of the authors of the paper is required to be present by their poster during the session. 3. Any materials left on the poster board at the end of the session will be removed and discarded. It is authors’ responsibility to remove and preserve the poster in time. Ernst Award and Best Student Paper Award. • George Grover Medal The Committee on International Heat Pipe Conferences has established the George Grover Medal to honor individuals for their outstanding contributions to the development of Heat Pipe Science and 13 Joint 18th IHPC and 12th IHPS Joint 18th International Heat Pipe Conference and 12th International Heat Pipe Symposium Technology. The medal is named in honor of Dr. George Grover, who, with his first external publication in 1963 on heat pipes, laid the foundation for all heat pipe research and development. The medal has been given since the 14th IHPC in 2007. This award is given in two categories: Young Scientist Award (recognizing promising young individuals typically working in the field less than 10 years) and Distinguished Scientist Award (recognizing significant and sustained contributions in the field). • Donald M. Ernst Award This Best Papers Award category was established in memory of Donald M. Ernst by his friends and colleagues to honor his achievements in the fields of Heat Pipe physics, research, application, innovation, product development and commercialization. It has been awarded since the 16th IHPC in 2012. The selection will be done by the International Heat Pipe Conference Committee from amongst the papers presented during the conference. The award includes a cash prize and a certificate. The award is given in two categories: (i) for fundamental research and, (ii) for technical/technology applications. • Best Student Paper Award Best Student Paper Award will be given to Oral/Poster presenters who are students. ‘Students’ normally mean graduate students and interns/temporary employees of universities/research organizations. The selection will be done by the Local Organizing Committee from amongst the papers presented during the conference. Taxi In Korea there two types of taxis, the regular and the Mobum (black color with yellow taxi cap on the roof). Usually Mobum taxi runs with bigger and nicer cars but it charges more than the regular taxi. You can easily find taxis everywhere in Jeju.
