An officers meeting was held April 7 at the home of Gene and Phyllis George,
with Pat Allen, Betty Buffington, Alice Devine, Dorothy Inscho, and the Georges
present.
The Mesa Mall and Centennial displays were discussed.
Funds were
allotted for the Centennial display.
A decision was made to purchase reference
books, without fail, for the Society.
Money for this has been budgeted since
inception, with no purchases made.
Due to other commitments,
the quarterly
had not been completed for April 1982.
It was decided to get it out one month
late and Gene George was asked to take over as editor and will put for~every
effort to meet the April, July, October and January 1st deadlines.
The May
meeting agenda was set.
It will be held as usual in the Friendship
Room with a
short business meeting followed by a workshop.

The April meeting was held as planned at the L.D.S. Library with a good attendance.
A short business meeting was held discussing the May meeting, table at the Mall
and information for the quarterly. Dorothy Inscho reported she had paid the fee
and mailed the membership list to Colo. Council of Genealogical Societies which
-
1
would allow members in good standing to purchase D.P.L. Library cards, if they
desired. The rest of the evening was spent in the library with the librarians
answering questions and showing people what was available and how to use their
system. It was an informative evening and we extend our thanks and appreciation
to the L.D.S. Librarians.
A British lecture team will be speaking in Denver, May 7 and 8, sponsered by the
Columbine Genealogical
and Historical
Society.
Costs are $25-full seminar, $10Friday night only.
More information

forms may be obtained
from Pat Allen.

We need some ideas for programs this fall. Do you want speakers, workshops, or
what? Would you be willing to help put on a program, speak on research in special
areas, or conduct classes? There is a lot of talent out there just waiting to be
used. Let's help one another by sharing our books, newsletters and quarterlies.
Editorial-Gene H. George
The Society has been organized for about 2 years and has done a pretty good job
of staying together and working on its goals. More members are needed and more
reason to become a member. This is like the chicken and the egg. More members
would create more reason to join and more reason to join would attract more
members. Even with that delema, we can still do somethingabout it. Let's each
<
one try to find someone to interest in the Society and get them to join. Let's
each one put forth all effort to create a research library. Some suggestions for
storing this material have been made, none of them real good, but at least a start.
It would seem to me that every member has generated a file on some on~ or some
family they don't want but can't throwaway.
Giving these would be a start and
solve some of your own storage problems. If each one donated just one book they
might have, that isn't a treasure to them, a library would be born. Some of the
members are willing to store and pack this material to meetings and do whatever
is necessary to start a library. What you say we get one going?
REMEMBERTHE MAY MEETING.

ON USE OF SASE ENVELOPES:
While most of us who have been doing genealogical
research fora number of years are aware of the importance
of submitting self
addressed,
stamped envelopes with all queries we may send out, not everyone
realizes the importance of using the correct size envelope.
Most any reply
received would require at least a standard #10 (9! x 4 1/8) rather than the
smaller standard # 6 3/4 (6~ x 3 5/8) size.
Now it seems the Post Office obwithin
another
envelope
jects to mail in which such a folded # 10 is included
of the same size, the suggestion is the use of a #11 envelope for outside, thereby permitting a standard #10 to be included for your SASE without folding.
