Spinner PT OI L - C L E A N I NG S Y S T E M For Dodge Cummins Turbodiesels 1997-2002 TM Spinner PT System 0.8 gpm at 60 psig with Model 25 Centrifuge 250 cc Dirt Capacity Installation Instructions Parts List Service Instructions Bulletin 73676 Spinner PT Model 25 Installation Instructions OIL-CLEANING SYSTEM For Installation on a Cummins ISB Engine Manufactured from 1997-2002 Prepare the Engine 1. Turn off vehicle and set parking brake. Disconnect negative terminal from battery and isolate it from all metal surfaces. To prevent accidental shock, cover terminal with a non-conducting material. 4. Remove steel plug in the middle turbo return point on side of the engine block. You may use either of these options: a. Use a seal puller or drill a hole and then thread a screw into plug to pull it out, or b. Use a small chisel to hit one side of plug to turn it inside of the boss. Once turned, use pliers to remove it. If you need to pry out plug, use a piece of wood or similar substance between the tool and the engine block to prevent damage to block. Caution! DO NOT LET THE PLUG FALL INTO THE ENGINE. Plug 2. Remove air cleaner to allow easier access. 5. Disconnect oil feed line to the turbo at the oil filter head and remove adapter fitting. Leave the line connected to the turbo inlet. You will reuse this part. 3. Remove plastic battery hold-down strap by unscrewing the two bolts. Retain bolts for reuse. You are now ready to install the centrifuge kit. 2 Model 25 Installation Instructions Prepare the Centrifuge 6. If centrifuge is already mounted to the bracket, proceed to step 7. a. Otherwise, remove cover of centrifuge using a 13 mm wrench or socket. d. Align four bolt holes in centrifuge base to threaded studs on mounting bracket so that inlet port is approximately 45° from center. Top Down View Bracket 45° b. Remove turbine assembly from spindle by lifting straight up. c. Place centrifuge base gasket over the bracket’s four threaded studs. Inlet Port Centrifuge e. Attach centrifuge to mounting bracket using the supplied hardware (4 flat washers and 4 nylock nuts). Tighten nuts to 15 inch pounds. Caution! Over-tightening of hardware can cause threaded studs to be pulled off of the mounting bracket. f. Reassemble centrifuge by placing turbine assembly back onto the spindle and then replacing cover. Make sure black cover seal is present. 3 Spinner PT Model 25 Installation Instructions OIL-CLEANING SYSTEM Install the Centrifuge 7. Install O-ring inlet fitting into centrifuge inlet port. Do not use thread sealant. 8. Install 45-degree outlet fitting into the bottom of the centrifuge mounting bracket. This part will require thread sealant. Use a commercially available “liquid” thread sealant. Do not use any type of tape (such as Teflon tape). Tighten and position fitting so that it points toward plug opening (See Step # 4). 10. Fit centrifuge assembly to battery using battery hold-down strap. Re-use bolts from Step #3. The cutout square on the battery hold-down strap sits closest to the engine. The plastic buffer sits on top of the battery between the battery and the metal part of the battery hold-down strap. The square cut out is positioned over tube on back of centrifuge mounting bracket. The bolt passes through the assembly, fastening it to battery tray. 9. Lubricate O-ring with engine oil and place onto return fitting that attaches to engine block. Insert fitting into boss opened in Step #4. Make sure fitting is fully seated into block (this may take some force). To avoid damage to fitting, use a rubber hammer and/or place wood block on fitting when striking. Fitting must not be loose or be able to rotate. 4 Model 25 Installation Instructions Connect the Oil Inlet Line Connect the Oil Drain Line 11. Insert tee fitting into top of the oil filter head. Do not use a thread sealant. Caution! Do not over-tighten. This fitting is steel and the oil filter head is aluminum. Over-tightening will cause damage to the oil filter head. Fitting has a nut that will seal the fluid. Position fitting as shown (pointing toward centrifuge inlet fitting) and tighten nut until snug. 14. Place 1-inch black drain hose over engine return fitting. Using a 5/16-in. socket, secure it with a hose clamp. Place two hose clamps onto hose and push hose end onto fitting installed in Step 9. Using a 5/16-in. socket, secure this end with hose clamps. 12. Connect small stainless hose to outlet side of tee fitting. Do not use thread sealant. Reassemble and Test 15. Reinstall air cleaner. 16. Reconnect battery. 17. Run the truck up to operating temperature and check for leaks. If leaks are detected, tighten fittings and clamps as necessary, remembering not to over-tighten fitting into the aluminum oil filter head. 13. Reassemble turbo feed line to the top port of the new tee fitting and connect the other end of the stainless hose to centrifuge inlet. Installation is now complete. You should have no parts remaining 5 Spinner PT Spinner PT System Parts List OIL-CLEANING SYSTEM Item Part Number Spinner PT Kit . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 73773 Model 25 Centrifuge . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 71957 Mounting Bracket & Hold-Down Strap . . . . . . . . . 73644 Outlet Fitting . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 73654 Outlet Hose . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .73653 Inlet Hose . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 73649 Dodge Return Fitting . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 73646 Oil Supply Fitting . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 73648 Inlet Fitting . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 73650 Hose Clamps (3) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .73664 Only items shown with part numbers are available. 6 Spinner PT Model 25 Centrifuge Parts List OIL-CLEANING SYSTEM Item Part Number Bold denotes assembly Centrifuge, Spinner II/Model 25 with COV (Cut-Out Valve) .....71957 Cover assembly ...............................................................71080 Nut-cover .........................................................................................71081 n Seal-cover nut ..................................................................................71082 Ring, retaining-cover nut..................................................................71083 Centrifuge turbine assembly..............................................71085 Nut-centrifuge bowl .........................................................................71086 Bowl-centrifuge ...............................................................................71087 l Seal-centrifuge turbine, nitrile.........................................................71089 Standtube-centrifuge .......................................................................71088 l Turbine body...................................................................................71952 Nozzle-turbine (2 required) ..................................................part of 71085 Base assembly with spindle ...............................................71979 l Seal-base to cover (nitrile) ..............................................................71084 n Kit cut-out valve ...............................................................71950 Gasket-base.....................................................................................71091 Service Cycle l Whenever bowl is cleaned or replaced. n At unit rebuild or when required.
