The Big Summer Sale is Dubai’s innovative retail initiative and is the main attraction of the annual Dubai
Summer Surprises (DSS). The most anticipated shopping event was launched at Dubai World Trade Centre
under the theme ‘45 Days of Summer’. The sale was open to public for a period of 10 days and culminated
on the 1st August 2015.
The fashion-related event worked as a platform to
enhance Dubai’s growing reputation as a fashion
capital in the region and offered DSS shoppers the
opportunity to grab amazing deals from top brands
at incredible prices, all under one roof.
25 of Apparel Group brands participated at
this popular family extravaganza; Aeropostale,
Aftershock, ALDO, ALDO Accessories, All About
Watches, Anne Klein, Birkenstock, Call It Spring,
Charles & Keith, Cortefiel, Dune, Gas, JFK, Kenneth
Cole, La Vie en Rose, Le Chateau, Naturalizer, Nine
West, Pedro, P.S Aeropostale, Qup Accessories,
Shoe Studio, The Athlete’s Foot, The Children’s
Place and Tommy Hilfiger were all part of the sale.
The event was inaugurated by H.E Laila
Mohammed Suhail, CEO of Dubai Festivals and
Retail Establishment (DFRE), in the presence
of distinguished guests from some of Dubai’s
most prestigious retail entities, along with many
representatives of local and regional media.
Modi in UAE: Indian PM takes a tour of Dubai
Indian Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi visited Dubai on 16th August as part of a two-day visit to the UAE.
Mr. Modi captivated a packed Dubai Cricket Stadium in his 75-minute speech and thanked the UAE for
the ‘overwhelming affection to him and Indians’. Apparel Group’s F&B brands Cold Stone Creamery & Tim
Hortons were also part of the event; Cold Stone Creamery sold their legendary creamy ice creams while
Tim Hortons served the crowd with freshly brewed coffee.
ALDO hosted an A-LIST affair where its loyal customers
were invited to an exclusive in-store event at IBN Battuta
Mall, Dubai. The brand showcased its festive collection
with its mix of sophistication and playfulness, a DJ was instore as guests enjoyed a relaxing afternoon of sumptuous
food and beverages from Tim Hortons. Plus, fun nail art
pampering sessions was provided along with an exclusive
25% off on the latest ALDO collection.

NINE WEST’S PLEDGE TO BREAST
CANCER
Nine West has pledged to build awareness and raise
funds for Breast Cancer, reinforcing their commitment to
Educate, Engage and Enable women about the cause.
The brand has signed a memorandum of understanding
(MoU) with Friends of Cancer Patients (FOCP) and has
partnered with their flagship programme ‘Pink Caravan’
supporting Breast Cancer screening camps for women
whilst also raising funds for the cause by selling Pink
Caravan Pins at all their stores.
TYING UP WITH ETIHAD AIRWAYS
To appreciate and award Nine West for this commendable
initiative, on behalf of Higher Steering Committee, Ms. Lize
De Jonge, Research and Programme Manager - Friends
of Cancer Patients, presented a token of appreciation
to Mr. Neeraj Tekchandani (Group CFO), Ms. Sangeeta
Rajkumari (Head Nine West) and Dr. Sangeeta Sharma
(Manager CSR) for their continuous support in promoting
the cause.
Inglot and Pedro supported Etihad Airways’ yearly
Garage Sales project on 6th and 7th July. The brands
were given a space in the main area of the Etihad
Headquarters building where they displayed their
products and branding, and sold all items on day 1 of
the event! The proceeds were sent to Khalifa Medical
Hospital, cancer patient students. Hundreds of Etihad
employees attended and made purchases. They were
also given makeover gift vouchers from Inglot, which
they could use in-store. It was an excellent day for both
brands and another successful event.

APPAREL AT THE HIGHER COLLEGE NATURALIZER WINS THE GLOBAL
OF TECHNOLOGY, ABU DHABI
SALES PARTNER AWARD 2015
The Higher College of Technology welcomed Bottega Verde,
Inglot and Tim Hortons on students’ campus on June 1st
where each brand displayed their products and branding
from 10am to 3pm. Inglot offered makeover services
to students and teachers. They also received goodies
bags, and participated in a brand survey. Bottega Verde
displayed their products, which attracted the organizers
of the students’ ceremony. Tim Hortons provided free
coffee, donuts and Danish pastries to all attendees. It was
a successful brand building exercise with a turnover of over
150 students and teachers.
Apparel Group KSA unveils
new Human Capital Initiatives
& Practices
On August 24th, Khaled Alshareef, newly appointed Head
- Human Capital (KSA) along with his team organized ‘KSA
Human Capital’ roadshow to apprise the staffs on the new
HR initiatives and policies that will be implemented in KSA
to support the aggressive expansion plans of the Group.
He emphasized on the true potential of Saudi Business
and the commercialization of H.R concepts that will be
developed and executed by the local talent.
IFTAR HOSTED BY APPAREL
GROUP KSA
The interactive roadshow began with the unveiling of the
Human Capital Mission and Vision and the way forward.
During the session, employees were informed on the key
issues affecting the business during the current transitional
phase, the solutions to tackle them and also the means
to transform the Human Resource Department to a
world class Human Capital Department. Khaled provided
the attendees a clear insight on how Human Capital will
transform the Department from a Cost Centre to a Profit
Centre over the years.
Thereafter, a Q&A session was conducted with the
staffs and Department Heads followed by a one on one
interaction with all the Brand/Department representatives
to understand the challenges faced by them and how
Human Capital can assist them to achieve their required
goals. The roadshow ended with a fun session wherein the
employees participated in contests, dancing and singing.
In one of the most important periods in the Islamic
calendar, the Holy Month of Ramadan is characterized
by prayer, reflection and fasting, as well as the
centuries-old tradition of sharing Iftar meals among
families and friends after sunset and prayers. In respect
for these traditions, Apparel Group - KSA organized a
grand Iftar for its staff at Holiday Inn Hotel, Riyadh on
12th July 2015 to share the ceremonial breaking of the
fast. A special award ceremony was held to recognize
the outstanding performers of the KSA region; winners
were awarded an acknowledgement certificate and
cash. The evening concluded with an exciting raffle
draw and as give-aways employees were gifted
t-shirts and caps.

The Annual Creamery Cup!
TimHortonsGCC
The Creamery Cup is an annual, internal competition for
the floor staff of Cold Stone Creamery, where participants
are judged on various factors; customer service, product
knowledge, entertainment factor, etc. Each Region hosts a
local creamery cup and the winners then compete against
each other for the international title. Mr. Tyrone Pia recently
won the creamery cup and will be representing the GCC
region at the International creamery cup to be held in
October in Dubai.
DUNE London FW’15 Press Day
DUNE launched its Autumn/Winter’15 collection in
grand style and hosted a press day for the fashion &
lifestyle media at the Fridge, Alserkal Avenue Dubai. This
collection draws focus to reinvention; Influences are taken
from the present-day modern icon, whilst textures and
colours are revitalized, developing through the season
from fresh and neutral to rich and luxurious. Shape and
texture is still heavily influenced by the Seventies era,
whilst deep midnight tones make for a dramatic day-toevening collection.
