Featured Project:
Aurora Grain Facility
Muth Electric began working
on the Aurora Grain Facility in Superior, Nebraska in August 2013, and
the work was completed in November 2014.
Muth Electric aided in the
design of sizing the main electrical
service, motor control center, and
panels. We also designed and figured the layout and sizing of all conduit and wire for all equipment requiring electrical power, as well as
the layout of the facility lighting.
Aurora Grain Facility is a
shuttle train loading facility. It consists of two truck systems that receive 20,000 bushels per hour
(BPH) and has a rail loadout rated at
80,000 BPH while the rate of rail
receiving is 20,000 BPH. The facility
also has a slipformed concrete elevator that holds 1,325,000 bushels
of grain with a dryer system rated at
7,000 BPH.
The general contractor and
engineer was Todd & Sargent of
Ames, Iowa.
Doug Walz was the Project
Manager, Kyle Milekovich was the
Project Foreman and Chad
Lanoue was the Project Estimator.
Other Muth Electric employees that assisted on this project
were as follows: Aaron Janssen,
Adam Sauer, Anthony Cameron,
Arlyn Vander Ziel, Brandon Auch,
Brian Tate, Dan Schmidt, Derrick

Featured Project:
Brookings Regional Airport
Muth Electric was
awarded the electrical contract
for the Brookings Regional Airport in Brookings, SD. The work
began in March 2014 and is expected to be completed in
Spring 2015. Muth Electric installed a new lighting system for
the airport. We built a new main
runway and modified an existing
runway, so all new lighting was
needed. This included runway,
taxiway and threshold lighting, REIL lights and PAPI lights.
The airport vault building was demolished and rewired. Muth
also replaced and rewired the airport beacon. The project
also included installing a new instrument landing system.
The new instrument landing system included a
MALSR system, glide slope tower system, localizer system,
outer marker system, and a relocated AWOS weather system. The FAA furnished new control buildings for the
MALSR system, glide slope system and localizer system that
was shipped from out of state.
Muth Electric is the general contractor, and the engineer
is Helms & Associates of Aberdeen, SD.
Gary Swier is the Project Manager, Josh Broekhuizen is the Project Foreman
and Wayne Schneider is the
Project Estimator. Other Muth

Muth Electric Moving to Paperless!
Over the past 18 months, the move to paperless at Muth Electric has taken
shape.
All of the project information that is utilized in the field is stored out on the
cloud using the Muth Electric 4-P system. Our onsite project offices all have a 55”
monitor to view project plans and specs. The plans are then loaded onto tablets to
be taken into the project building for the electricians. Pictured at right is a touchscreen monitor which the estimators use to aid in going paperless.
The electricians have access to the full set of plans and also the specifications
for the project. They can move from one sheet to another and make notes on the
electronic plans if needed. Virtually all forms and paperwork have been converted
to electronic and are either being uploaded to the cloud or emailed to submit saving a large amount of time and handling of
paper.
The service departments at Muth Electric are currently utilizing iPads to enter all the information on material and labor
used on their jobs. This iPad entry will eliminate the paper flow from the field to the office. Additional information is available
to the technicians on their iPads to help them be more efficient and complete the jobs quicker.
We are excited about even more improvements that will be coming to our systems and how they will help us to be on
the cutting edge and work more efficiently for our customers!

What is a Distributed Antenna System?
A Distributed Antenna System (DAS) is a way to deal
with isolated spots of poor cellular coverage inside of a building. This is accomplished by installing a reception antenna, signal amplifier and relatively small antennas throughout the building that serve as cellular signal repeaters. Basically, you are
rebroadcasting cellular signals inside the building. Cellular telephone users have come to expect their devices to work everywhere. With so much relying on being connected, today’s users
cannot afford cellular dead zones. Two major factors leading to
poor coverage are an expanding user base and the raw materials utilized in today’s building construction. Combine these factors, and your facility’s interior becomes a cellular dead zone.
The DAS alleviates both issues, providing reliable cellular coverage throughout your building.
Our company has the proper resources, tools and expertise to design and fully implement an in-building wireless cell
phone repeater system specific to your needs. If you are interested please call us today at the office nearest you!

Conduit Donation
Muth Electric, Inc in conjunction
with Graybar donated 7,000 feet of
½” EMT conduit to the Electrical
Construction and Maintenance program at Mitchell Technical Institute. The students will obtain
hands-on experience learning to
install and bend conduit. Pictured

Training Leaders of the Future
We are proud to announce that Muth Electric started its first
12-month Leadership Training Program. Towards the end of 2014,
36 employees were selected from a list of nominees gathered from
throughout our company. We sought out individuals not necessarily
in leadership positions, but those with leadership potential. In addition to potential, an important criteria is positive and energetic attitudes they show every day at work.
Countless challenges confront all leaders today: The workforce and leadership
pool are shrinking; the demands for services are increasing; and, the needs of an increasingly diverse and growing population are evolving. In addition, many organizations such
as ours will face significant challenges in leadership turnover and their capacity to promote leadership development.
We believe that we need to begin preparing tomorrow's leaders today and this
model of program will lead the way for us.
The participants in the program will attend 12 monthly 1½ day sessions covering
current leadership competencies, as well as a series of programs designed to expose participants to new concepts of leadership. Participants will be given time to practice new
skills, and will have opportunities for in-depth conversations with current leaders and providing coaching opportunities throughout the program. At various times during the program participants will be evaluated based on the progress, participation and performance
they have shown.
While it is our intention that all participants will be able to apply what they have
learned to their positions immediately – the true benefit will be a long term personal
growth of the employees in our company to help us many years into the future.
