(**) not on board/not available or not tested at this time PAGE (2) HULL: The hull is a fiberglass lay-up schedule utilizing 3 ounce chop-strand mat; 1.5 ounce Coremat and a "Tri-Axial Forced Grid" program. Unidirectional and multi-layers of woven roving in the lay-up. The hull was percussion sounded thoroughly with no delamination detected and no indications of any structural repairs where accessible and visible. (GVG). BOTTOM: The bottom had multiple layers of anti-foulant paint build-up over the past seasons. The bottom was further percussion sounded with no delamination detected and no indications of any grounding repairs. (G). BULKHEADS/JOINERWORK/HEADLINER/HULL LINERS: Molded fiberglass hull liner; teak hull-ceiling battens; thermal and acoustic fabric headliner and hull liner; teak cabinetry and joinerwork. (G).(*). DECK: Molded fiberglass with a non-skid finish molded in and 1/2" balsa-cored. Cabin sides are cored with Coremat. Perimeter decks and cabin roof were also percussion sounded with no delamination detected. (GVG). KEEL: 6,300 lbs; cast lead deep-fin profile. Stainless steel threaded keel bolts with threaded nuts and backing hardware. All appear tight. (GVG). TOPSIDES, STEM AND TRANSOM: Hull needs only an aggressive cleaning, waxing/buffing out to restore the gelcoat luster. (GVG). BILGES: Clean and dry. (GVG). FITTINGS: Factory original marine aluminum fore and aft deck cleats; stainless steel guard rail on forward roof; stainless steel stemhead fitting; teak grab rails and deck filler caps. (GVG). FASTENINGS: Threaded through bolts with backing hardware all secured tight and bedded well. (GVG). RUB RAILS/TOE RAILS: Molded fiberglass raised perimeter toe rail with integral freeing ports. Rub rail is an anodized aluminum extrusion with mechanical fasteners. This perimeter rub rail is secured tight. (GVG). STANCHIONS/LIFELINES: 1" stainless steel tapered vertical stanchions with reinforced through bolted bases all bedded tight. Double vinyl-coated stainless steel lifelines; port, starboard and transom boarding gates. (GVG). BOW/STERN RAIL(S): 1" stainless steel continuous welded double rails secured tight. (GVG). HATCHES: (2) emergency escape hatches; (1) vent hatch and a tinted acrylic and teak slide-open companionway access hatch with molded fiberglass spray hood and varnished weatherboards to fit. PAGE (11) DIGITAL PHOTOS PAGE (12) RECOMMENDATIONS/FINDINGS STRUCTURAL There is a laminated plywood partition in the aft cockpit locker to starboard that is wet-rotted/decayed. This does not affect the overall integrity of the hull. The partitions should be repaired/replaced. The stress crack on the forward lip of the cockpit sole to starboard is cosmetic. Given the multiple layers of anti-foulant paint applied over the past several seasons, the bottom will need an aggressive sanding, prep and a new application of high grade antifoulant. My visual inspection of the hull, deck areas and superstructure were found to be in generally good condition and visually appearing to be structurally sound where accessible and visible at this time. Although no blistering was detected at the date of this survey report, as with all fiberglass hulls, this could change with environment and water salinity. MECHANICAL Lubricated the steering system; Lubricate the engine controls; Lubricate all seacocks to operate more easily by hand. The shaft strut rubber cutlass bearing indicated wear. Best to replace this over the 2014/2015 winter lay-up. Double clamp the raw water intake hoses for the engine. The engine dipstick does not fit snug into the tube. This may need to be replaced or modified. There were no records, logs or maintenance receipts furnished to support any maintenance program for the engines, generator or related mechanical assemblies. HAVE A FACTORY AUTHORIZED MECHANIC/DEALERSHIP SERVICE & INSPECT THESE. My inspection and tests were conducted by external methods only. My inspection conducted at this time is intended to relay the present visual condition of the engines, transmissions as of this date. Latent defects and internal failures will not be covered in this survey report. Conditions of this machinery were made using visual observations only without disassembly of components. Oil samples were drawn for oil analysis by me and tested by Advanced Research Center, Norwood, Massachusetts. Results are incorporated into the pages of this survey report. No engine warranties as to the engine life expectancy or any accuracy of the testing lab technicians are implied by me as many variables must be taken into consideration with such type analysis, (such as low or high engine hours, inactivity, irregular maintenance schedule, environment, condensation, salt water presence, etc.) ELECTRICAL Both batteries failed load testing and both will need to be replaced. #1 @ 405 CCA and #2 @ 371 CCA. Knot log transducer was not connected. Wiring was inspected where accessible and visible only. Wiring was found to be in serviceable condition at this time and circuits are protected from overload at the main electrical distribution panel(s). Opening of the electrical panel(s) or load center is not within the scope of this survey report. Inspection of all wiring is limited to areas clearly accessible without the removal or dismantling of the wiring looms, conduit or circuit boxes. No lightning diffusers or diverters found. Disconnect, clean, dress and tighten all electrical wire connections and bonding wire connections to insure proper grounding. All zinc anodes will need to be replaced. RIGGING Standing and running rigging was inspected from deck level. Limited inspection of the chainplates due to cabinetry; hull liners and joinerwork. Have a reputable rigger tune and inspect the rigging prior to any cruising. USCG SAFETY The engine starts in gear. Fabricate a notice “ENGINE STARTS IN GEAR” and post this on the cockpit engine instrumentation panel. Install a Carbon Monoxide/Smoke Detector with Ionization & Photoelectric Sensing Technologies in cabin/living areas. Consider installing a high water alarm for the bilge pump. You must have a current copy of the Navigation Rules International-Inland COMDTINST M16672.2D. It was unclear on the date of my survey, as to what USCG SAFETY gear was included in the purchase. Have the USCG AUXILIARY conduct the Marine Courtesy Exam and post the compliance decal. PAGE (13) Recommendations/findings were discussed with the party requesting this survey. This initial survey has been prepared and submitted in good faith.
