2015 Brochure - Nappanee Apple Festival
Welcome! Our 40th Anniversary. . . Grand Marshals Meet Donnie & Nancy George Donnie and Nancy George are as rooted as you can get in this area. He being a Nappanee Bulldog, she being a Wakarusa Indian and now living within the blended community of the NorthWood Panthers. They married 57 years ago and have raised three boys, Mark, Michael and David, and enjoy 10 grandkids and three “great’s” with another arrival soon. They belong to the First Church of God. Mark and Michael are involved in the business, which gives mom and dad some time off when they desire. Yes, this couple is still actively involved with their 40 year old business that puts them on the northwest corner of Market and Walnut streets. So, when the Apple Festival is underway, they are in the midst of the activity. George’s Service & Car Wash has earned the couple a successful business. “Our people keep coming back because they trust what we do, appreciate our service, and like the car wash,” says Nancy. The boys attend technical classes to keep up on car systems, parts and service, so there are few limitations to what the business can offer. Welcome to the 40th Annual Nappanee Apple Festival! It’s hard to believe it’s been 4 decades since the first event in 1975. Thank you for your ongoing support and attendance at the festival. You have made this one of Indiana’s top Festivals. We have your best interests at heart with events that hopefully bring enjoyment, a memorable visit, and a great time in this wonderful community, ranked in the top five of great places to live in Indiana! Committee members would like to extend a big thank you to our sponsors who provide support and funding to bring so many attractions to the annual festival. Also, a huge thank you to all of our volunteers, the Nappanee Chamber of Commerce, the City of Nappanee, and the local residents. Have fun and enjoy the festival! The Apple Festival “Core” Committee A family that plays together, stays together and winter snowmobiling is what they enjoy. Four years ago they bought a second home in Wellston, MI and now they keep their sleds there, so when the mood strikes they journey 230 miles north to ride on their big playground. Donnie also makes an annual snowmobiling trip to the Upper Peninsula. Nancy has been sidelined from the snowmobiling, but enjoys the shops in the area and finds time to read and do puzzles. The family took pleasure in river rafting July 4th weekend on a waterway that is close to the MI home. The George’s get involved in the Apple Festival by helping with the Tractor Pull and also enjoy the Wings and Wheels Show where Donnie shows his 1957 Desoto, the summer fun car. The couple enjoy rides in this vintage vehicle “to just get away”. When Grand Marshal’s Donna and Nancy are riding in the Saturday morning parade, the grandkids will be following them in the Desoto, as Grandpa is offering up the keys. enjoy the sights, sounds, smells, taste and fun of the 2015 Nappanee Apple Festival attractions highlights cessions n o C d o o F Carnival & Over 120 Craft Booths Over 50 Commercial B ooths #4 ow/Puppets h S s id K t e h tc Granpa Cra Shows Daily #10 ACRODUNK America’s Favorite Dunk Team!
