Psalm 63 “My soul is thirsting for you, O Lord my God.” Galatians 3:26-29 We are children of God in Christ Jesus. Luke 9:18-24 Take up the cross We find Jesus in today’s Gospel taking the question of who his disciples think he is and turning it around, telling us who we must be. If we are to follow him, we must be willing to do as he did, that is, take up our cross each and every day. As we reflect on these readings today, perhaps the question for us is how we lose our life in order to save it. Living Catholic in the 808: And Another Thing a=About the Bible By: Gariss Pereira Young Adult Leader St. Theresa Parish, Oahu Last week I shared about opening the Bible and praying with His Word. Well, bible Studies are also important—it can help you gain a better understanding of the Bible’s meaning. How many of you have picked up a Bible and read a passage hoping to gain a better understanding but were left even more confused? Well, if that is how you felt, then Bible Studies are a great way for you to get all of those questions answered. And even if you feel like you “get it,” how do you know that your interpretation is right? Unfortunately, it is because people do not fully understand and come up with their own interpretations that we have so many different translations of the Bible and so many arguments between people. With good Catholic Bible study, the studies will be backed up by multiple, different passages. The Catechism of the Catholic Church, sayings of our Church Fathers and more. Through His Word, Jesus will speak straight to your heart when He has a message just for you. But Jesus is also trying to tell you His story as well. He wants you to get to know Him and understand Him like He knows and understands you. CONGRATULATIONS 2016 GRADUATES! In Florida you can see signs on the beach that say “Do not touch the sea turtles or their eggs. They are protected by local, state, and federal law.” If we do not have the right to choose to smash the eggs of a sea turtle, why do we have the right to choose to smash a baby? Prayer.
