As the largest and longest running multicultural festival
in the world, Folklorama is proud to celebrate our 46th
annual Festival in 2015! From August 2 to 15, enjoy
world-class entertainment, delicious authentic food
and drink, beautiful cultural displays, and friendly
hospitality. There is always something new to
experience at Folklorama, whether you are a long-time
Folklorama fan, or a first-timer. So the question is:
will you “See it All”?
This Travel Guide is designed to help you plan your Folklorama experience
and think about what Folklorama means to you. You can start anywhere, from
taking in the fun at the Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries Folklorama Kick-Off on July
25, to learning about which of our 43 pavilions you want to visit, to deciding
on how you want to experience the Festival – with friends, family, that special
someone, or as a VIP on one of our customized tours. Folklorama is focused on
creating unique and personal experiences.

The Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries Folklorama Kick-Off
is a free event held at the Festival Park Stage at
The Forks on Saturday, July 25 from 4:00 pm to
11:00 pm. It offers fun for the whole family, including
a marketplace with interactive children's activities
and cultural demonstrations. The mainstage show,
featuring local and international performing groups,
starts at 7:00 pm. The evening will be capped off with
a spectacular fireworks display around 11:00 pm.

43 cultural pavilions will feature delicious authentic food
and beverages, spectacular entertainment, and unique
cultural exhibits. As always, our friendly Ambassadors

The ongoing success of the Folklorama Festival would
not be possible without the unwavering dedication of our
20,000 volunteers who embody our mission of celebrating
diversity and promoting cultural understanding. For the
two weeks of the Festival, our volunteers open their doors
and hearts to visitors from near and far, encouraging
everyone to share in their unique cultural traditions. Our
volunteers are our greatest strength and we sincerely thank
each and every one of them.

Trinidad and Tobago, to the music festivals of Barbados and Jamaica –

pork hock), bigos (hunters' stew), Polska kielbasa (Polish sausage), and

Join us in celebrating the 47th year of the Afro-Caribbean Association of
Manitoba. The show features lithe Limbo dancer and fire-eater Prince Jo Jo
from Ocho Rios, Jamaica, accompanied by Clyde Heerah and the Paradize
Band. The rhythmic dancing of the Afro-Caribbean Dancers and Ariya Afrika will
delight you. Enjoy jerk chicken, curried goat, calypso ribs, beef, chicken and
vegetable rotis, and Jamaican patties. Desserts such as coconut drops, gizzada,
banana bread, and tropical ice cream will please your palate. Quench your
thirst with Red Stripe beer, rum punch, piña colada, and ginger beer. Before
leaving, try your hand on the steel pan with the Winnipeg Steel Orchestra.

One hundred thousand welcomes! Come join us and experience a
fantastic show featuring the Ena Sutton Highland Dancers of Winnipeg,
The Flying Haggis Showband, and the St. Andrews Pipes & Drums Concert
Band. Stay as long as you wish and enjoy traditional dancing, scotch
tasting, and a fascinating cultural display on Scottish history. A wide
variety of food and beverages will be served all night. Join us Saturday at
1 pm for the Heavy Games competition, followed by a special family show
at 5:15 pm, featuring our pavilion’s youngest performers. See you there!

Come visit our pavilion that showcases the unique culture, language and
food of the Punjab region. Taste traditional Punjabi cuisine including saag
(spinach), chana masala (chick peas), chicken masala curry with naan
bread, kadhi (vegetarian curry made with yogurt) and pakora with rice.
Try a Kingfisher or Cheetah beer or one of our imported spirits, including
McDowell’s No. 1, Amrut, Old Monk and Old Port Rum. Visit our cultural
display area to try on a turban. Or get a henna tattoo, and learn the
bhangra and gidha dances.

passionate dances born out of the diverse traditions of Russia. For the first
time we will welcome a member of American rock group Red Elvises: Oleg
Bernov! He will amaze you with his skills on the bass-balalaika, as well as
his performance alongside Yuri Fedorko of Limpopo fame. Put the perfect

have always been book lovers. The Sagas, written during the time of
the Vikings, tell of Viking history, folklore and mythology. Following in
the great Viking tradition, the Nordic people continue to publish great
literature that is read extensively around the world. Who doesn't know
the characters of Hans Christian Anderson's fairy tales or perhaps you’re
familiar with Pippi Longstocking? Ever heard of the Moomins? If not, find
out who they are at the Scandinavian Pavilion.
