The Inside Track
July 2011
The Inside Track
Scott van Tamelen, WMFC President
It’s July and that means only one thing………..the
car season is in full swing. Make sure you check
this month’s list of “happenings” as we have
several events you can participate in during the
month.
The first is the annual WMFC Fourth of July
party. As we did last year we’ll be participating
in the Grandville 4th of July Parade in the
morning. Following the parade WMFC
members are invited to Cat & Scott Browne’s
home for a BBQ – Pool party. You should’ve
received an email last week detailing the times
and meeting places for both the Parade and the
party. As mentioned in that email it’s not a
requirement to attend both events, if you’d like
to attend just one (parade or party) you’re
more than welcome to join us. Look at the
“Events to Remember” section for more info on
times and locations.
Lawton High School, entry fee is $10, and
registration starts at 7:30am with awards
handed out at 2pm. I think it’d be great if
WMFC members could show their support by
attending the show. On Sunday July 10th WMFC
members will be attending the 18th Annual
Wheels of Grand Haven Car Show. This is a
great show with 300+ cars lining the streets of
downtown Grand Haven.
On Saturday July 16th the 2nd Annual Todd
Wenzel Chevrolet Classics and Camaro show
will be held at their dealership in Hudsonville,
Mi.
The next two events happen on the weekend of
July 9th -10th. The first takes place on Saturday
July 9th in Lawton, Mi. It’s the annual Adam
Shafer Memorial Car Show. This show is a fund
raising event for one of our friends at WMCC.
All proceeds go to the Adam Shafer Memorial
Scholarship Fund. The show is held at the

The last thing we have planned is taking place
on Saturday July 23rd. WMFC members will be
leaving the Grand Rapids area in the afternoon
and heading to Woodward Ave in Detroit. We’ll
be meeting up with friends and members of
MiFbody.com. If you’ve never been to
Woodward Ave on a summer night this is one
event you won’t want to miss, there’ll be
everything imaginable cruising the streets of
Detroit.
If you’d like to attend any of these events
together shoot me an email. I’d like to get a firm
head count of how many members will be
going to Woodward; this is the type of event
that if we don’t get enough participation we’ll
postpone it for another date. So please email if
you’re interested in cruising over as a group.
June’s events
Below are some pictures from last month’s
WMFC events. It starts with pictures of
members who attended the Hamilton Memorial
Day Parade, then members and their rides at
the MiFbody Meet & Greet show.

Congrats to this year’s winner of the WMFC “Club Choice”
Trophy
Robert Lawler with his beautiful green 1996 WS6 Trans Am was the recipient of this year’s
WMFC “Club Choice” trophy. All the Firebirds at the Meet & Greet this year were
outstanding, but when it came down to the club members determining what one they’d like
to have in their garage…….Well, we kept coming back to Robert’s TA. The depth of the
factory applied finish is amazing, and the attention to detail is equally impressive.
Beautiful ride Robert!!! Congrats, well deserved!!!
