The strategic focus was the use of "poor" fuels such as wood and coal, but changing the idea of the stove from that of a simple heat source to an object of refined beauty and decor. A winning choice that puts Cola among the leaders in this emerging market in post-war Italy. A few years later the energy crisis ('Austerity') gave impetus to the appearance of a new product that would revolutionise the multifuel sector: in 1973, an engineer from Idaho in the USA invented the pellet. An agglomerate obtained by the compression of sawdust and wood powder without the addition of glues or chemicals, it gradually became increasingly used as fuel for industries and subsequently as an alternative for fueling condominium boilers or stoves for private homes. As a result, on the basis on the experience acquired and successes in the sector of wood-burning stoves and boilers, the Cola company worked to develop specific products in the field of pellets, eventually creating and patenting a brazier/brazier holder combustion system which is still among the safest and most effective on the market, ensuring perfect combustion, reduced residual ash and low dust emissions and flue gas. Always combining functionality and attractive design, heating efficiency and the suitability of the product to be used as a furnishing element. Cola srl was ready for the evolutionary leap at the dawn of the new millennium. 4 Ferroli Group In autumn 2006, Cola srl was acquired by the Ferroli Group, the "multi-national in well-being" led by Cav. Dante Ferroli and which, since 1955 (the year of its foundation), has seen its brands included among the world's best in the sectors of heating, air conditioning and renewable energy. Tradition and innovation meet: the Company's technological development provides support for testing and implementing new technologies that are more competitive and abreast (and even ahead) of the most restrictive regulations in the field of harmful emissions, as laid down in 1997 by the Kyoto Conference and validated by the European Community Directives. Today, Cola products are internationally certified as well below the harmful emissions limits that will come into force in Europe in 2015. The production procedure changes, with an industrialisation process that integrates Cola in the mechanisms of the Ferroli Group, thereby also enhancing the method of constructing the products by making use of appropriate facilities and automation and an efficient synergy with the foundry department, for the creation of new and specially designed combustion chambers and heat exchangers which further enhance the quality of Cola stoves. The Group 's Marketing Office makes available its international experience and, through a thorough Design and Development study inside the Company, moulds the shapes of the products to make them more in line with customers' tastes. The end result of these operations gives Cola products a high standard of quality, with the right combination of technical performance, thermal efficiency and refined design. 5 Training and Assistance Materials Made in Italy There is a direct relationship between Cola and its partners and service centers. Our support team is constantly engaged in providing advice over the phone or on-site and in offering training courses on products, and regulations on systems. Cola products, featuring a unique and original design and the use of high quality materials, are entirely made in Italy. Technology, design and carefully crafted details make the product safe and suitable for any type of setting. Steel, cast iron and majolica are skilfully combined, ensuring products featuring high performance and refined styling. Renewable Energy Energy Saving Cola has always paid special attention to ecology and environmental protection, orienting its product range towards renewable and eco-friendly energy sources: wood and pellets. Ecology means maintaining the balance between Man and Nature, but also focusing on efficiency, quality, functionality and convenience. WOOD is rightly considered a renewable energy source, and the ash from its combustion is 100% biodegradable. It is an accumulator of solar energy, protects the environment, and is a positive source against the greenhouse effect. Firewood comes from forests that are often the result of replanting of trees cut for burning and, once burnt, produce CO2 which is absorbed by other plants in order to grow. Using wood as a fuel is a way to produce energy without upsetting the delicate relationship with the environment. Wood is a virtually unlimited and economically beneficial raw material. It is transported short distances, stores well and poses no risk to the environment during production, storage and distribution. Wood is an incentive to look after the woodland heritage, and for the forestry sector. PELLETS, obtained from woodworking scraps, are practical and ecological, easy to transport and ideal for heating. Thanks to their low moisture content, pellets are the fuel with the best cost/energy ratio: at the same heat output, pellets are 33% more economical than natural gas, 52% more economical than oil and 66% more economical than LPG (Consumer Protection Centre data – October 2007). Pellets are increasingly used by households and businesses for their total naturalness, free of chemical additives or dyes, and their high thermal efficiency, higher than normal firewood due to the higher density, lower moisture content and the reduced production of ash with minimum maintenance and maximum cleanness in stove use. Easy to use, due to their shape and size they require less storage space and offer considerable stove heating autonomy thanks to their own hopper. Pellets are readily available and easy to transport in handy 15 kg bags. The reasons for using pellets for heating are mainly three: economic, ecological and convenience. Ecological reasons: pellets are made from woodworking scraps and are therefore classifiable as biomass which, on burning, produce low CO2 and NOx emissions, and the combustion residues can be reused as fertilizer. Moreover, the absence of binding agents, additives, paints and chemicals makes pellets less toxic and polluting than other fuels. Economic reasons: energy saving in the pellet stove compared to a traditional wood stove, due to the different calorific value. In fact, the normal wood has a calorific value of 4.5 kW/kg (with 17% moisture), whereas that of the pellets is 5.2 kW/kg. Pellets are even more convenient than normal petroleum derived fuels, as their cost in € per kW is lower than that of natural gas and oil. Practical reasons: logistic practicality in pellet storage (using half the storage space required for wood). Convenience in the supply and safety of pellets, because they are less flammable. These features therefore make transport and storage less hazardous. Since 1 July 2013 the Declaration of Performance (DoP) has replaced the Declaration of Conformity and is available on the WEB. Pellet Stove - Air Pellet Heating Stove H series 'AIR' combustion chamber (6 – 9 kW) and (10-13 kW): optimised heat exchange areas and flueways offer high thermal efficiency, a reduction in incomplete combustion, and lower dust emissions with values below those specified by European Standards (Germany - Austria) as well as those in force and envisaged for 2015. Ventilation (air heating models) is very efficient, in being distributed over the entire perimeter plate of the combustion chamber, with the possibility of automatic or manual control of fan speed. Also, some stove models are designed for ducting, to convey the hot air at a certain pressure and flow to where required by the user. 'WATER' combustion chamber – heating chamber (13-17 kW) and (24 – 28 kW): designed with large heat exchange areas and some walls in vermiculite for high thermal efficiency, a reduction in incomplete combustion values and lower dust emissions with adequate size for the internal water volume in order to provide for sudden drawing of hot water while continuing regular operation. 2 1 1 3 2 3 5 4 7 17 11 9 14 5 8 6 23 4 7 10 10 13 15 12 1 Control panel 11 16 10 Control panel Pellet hopper closing door Ventilated ceramic cover Cast iron finned exchanger Pressure relief valve Fume baffle Pellet hopper Pellet auger Combustion chamber vermiculite internal walls Pellet chute Pellet hopper safety thermostat probe Rear air fan Pellet igniting heating element Cast iron door-frame with glass ceramic Cast iron brazier Combustion air inlet pipe Brazier holder Fume exhaust pipe Ash container Fume extractor Side air fan Adjustable foot Panoramic external glass 1 2 3 13 19 18 6 20 15 9 19 21 20 23 8 Pellet auger 9 Auger rotation gearmotor 22 10 Combustion chamber inner wall in vermiculite 11 Pellet chute 12 Pellet hopper safety thermostat probe 13 Pellet igniting heating element 14 Cast iron brazier 19 Heating chamber 20 Ash container 17 21 22 6 Door in cast iron with glass ceramic 7 Pellet hopper 17 Electrical-electronic components box 18 Fume exhaust pipe 22 16 19 23 15 Brazier holder 16 Combustion air inlet pipe 13 18 5 Heating chamber closing cover 25 11 12 15 4 Pressure relief valve 24 10 14 3 Ventilated ceramic cover 18 20 21 8 2 Pellet hopper closing door 16 14 5 7 9 17 4 6 8 12 26 21 Fume extractor 22 Fume-water heat exchange pipes 23 Water circuit pressure transducer 24 Pressure relief valve 25 Water system circulating pump 26 Adjustable foot 11 PELLET STOVES Darwin Communication Utility - remotable interface Vision Ermetic Ambra Ambra Lux Vision Hr Smart Free Hr Antigua Cupido Aloe Diamond Aurora Easy crono Hr Fire Hr Fire Lux Hr Calla ductable Mimos ductablea Sprint steel ductable Sprint majolica ductable Medea Medea Lux Beauty 13 ductable Beauty 13 Lux ductable Sabina Charme Charme ductable Wave steel ductable Wave glass ductable Blitz Hr Ellisse » 14 » 15 » 16 » 18 » 20 » 22 » 24 » 26 » 28 » 30 » 32 » 34 » 36 » 38 » 40 » 42 » 44 » 46 » 48 » 50 » 52 » 54 » 56 » 58 » 60 » 62 » 64 » 66 » 68 » 70 » 72 The pellet stoves are autonomous because the pellets in the hopper are fed in an automatic and programmed way, ignite automatically and are adjusted by means of digital controls or remote control. Used for heating the room where installed or for ducting hot air in other rooms in the house, they ensure high thermal efficiency. The formal features of Cola stoves are the original reasons for the "comma" and "interpenetrating fins" that create a blend of originality, play of chromatic reflections and a feeling great thermal diffusion. The main features of COLA pellet stoves are: -- Automatic or manual adjustment of air fan speed as set by the customer -- Cast iron brazier -- Fire door with frame in cast iron and self-cleaning panoramic glass ceramic -- Large heat exchange area with upper exchanger and front frame in cast iron -- Automatic brazier cleaning to keep combustion constant and for low maintenance -- Alarm diagnostics and easy service -- Management in up to 3 foreign languages as well as the Italian version -- Ample glass area for better visibility of flame -- Possibility of connection to thermostat/external chronothermostat with cable -- Removable ash pan -- Adjustable feet on bottom of stove to facilitate installation also on uneven floors -- Automatic lighting and shutdown by weekly chronothermostat function with up to 4 lightings/shutdowns a day -- Safety systems: overpressure valve incorporated in the cast iron upper exchanger, overtemperature safety thermostat, pellet hopper and low pressure gauge to ensure safe operation of the unit NB: The heatable volume depends on the insulation of the home. The main features of COLA pellet heating stoves are: -- Cast iron brazier, fire door with frame in cast iron and self-cleaning panoramic glass ceramic -- Large heat exchange area on heating chamber -- Automatic brazier cleaning to keep combustion constant and for low maintenance -- Automatic lighting and shutdown by weekly chronothermostat function with up to 4 lightings/shutdowns a day -- Alarm diagnostics and easy service -- Management in up to 3 foreign languages as well as the Italian version -- Ample glass area for better visibility of flame -- Possibility of connection to thermostat/external chronothermostat with cable -- Removable ash pan -- Adjustable feet on bottom of stove to facilitate installation also on uneven floors -- Heating water circuit comprising: circulating pump with non-return valve with union, 3 bar safety valve, pressure transducer, system drain cock, membrane expansion tank and heating water delivery and return connections -- Group B DHW circuit for external boiler comprising circulating pump with non-return valve with union, heating water circuit connection pipes and delivery and return connections for boiler coil (optional - excluding Termo Max) -- Telephone connection via GSM module (optional) -- Safety systems: overpressure valve incorporated in the cast iron upper exchanger, overtemperature safety thermostat, pellet hopper and low pressure gauge to ensure safe stove operation -- Unit for domestic hot water production with storage (optional termo power - termo power lux) NB: The heatable volume depends on the insulation of the home. Calculated on 35 W/m³ - 30 kcal/h m³; consumption values are the result of laboratory tests 80 81 SYSTEM KIT MS 10-35 and MSS 10-35 are the Cola separation modules necessary for combined systems having various energy sources (pellets, gas, other sources) which exceed 35 kW and hydraulically separate two different circuits of a system. In fact, they are mandatory for the document ISPESL 18/09/2006 which states "if the primary heat transfer fluid of two generators enters the thermal storage without any separating element, the sum of the capacity is considered and therefore, if the value of 35 kW is exceeded, the system comes under the requirements of Min. Decree 1/12/1975 "Safety standards for equipment containing hot liquids under pressure", therefore placing a heat exchanger between the two generators creates a hydraulic interruption and the outputs must not be added together". Therefore Cola modules MS 10-35 and MSS 10-35 do not require the compiling of REPORT R (regarding the safety of equipment containing hot liquids under pressure), which is mandatory when the nominal output of the generators exceeds 35 kW: in fact, according to the current regulations, thermal systems fueled by biomass must undergo a number of authorisations and administrative procedures (such as prior notification, building permit, etc.). The modules are positioned near the unit (pellet stove or boiler) which has a useful heat output to water of between 10 and 35 kW. The modules have an electro-galvanised sheet frame and painted steel cover for easy assembly, to ensure optimum accessibility to the internal components in case of maintenance. A maximum operating temperature of 80°C and a maximum secondary side operating pressure of 6 bar are assured. The modules consist of two circuits: a primary circuit (connected to a pellet heating stove/boiler), and a secondary circuit that interfaces with another energy source. The MS 10-35 is the basic module for separation of the circuits, whereas the MSS 10-35 is the module which, in addition to the separation function, integrates the DHW circuit function (for boiler or plate heat exchanger). The primary side of the MS 10-35 module comprises: 3⁄4” connections, manual vent valve and heat exchanger with 30 plates, whereas the secondary side comprises 3⁄4” connections, low consumption 3-speed circulating pump, non-return valve and manual vent valve. The primary side of the MSS 10-35 module comprises: 3⁄4” connections, 3-way ball valve, manual vent valve and heat exchanger with 30 plates, whereas the secondary side comprises 3⁄4” connections, low consumption 3-speed circulating pump, non-return valve and manual vent valve. The low consumption 3-speed circulating pump on the secondary circuit (for both modules) and the 3-way valve for DHW option (only for module MSS 10-35) can be managed directly by the electronic controller of the pellet heating stove and/or boiler. Also, the modules can be provided with an ANTICONDENSATION Accessory Kit that raises the return temperature in the primary circuit. With this accessory kit, through a 3-way thermal valve the system bypasses the primary circuit fluid delivery (pellet stove/boiler) in the primary circuit return until the delivery reaches the preset temperature in the valve. At this point the thermal valve (proportionally) closes the bypass and opens the return, thus allowing total circulation of the fluid. This allows the pellet stove/ boiler to quickly reach the optimum working temperature, preventing damage from smoke or soot in the flues and eliminating the problem of condensate in the unit. Design Essential, Attractive and Compact COMBUSTION CHAMBER - Large surface area heat exchanger for maximum efficiency Every little detail has been carefully and stylishly designed: • Large volume flue gas reversal collectors for uniform temperature and speed • Extremely low emissions thanks to accurately calibrated combustion and vermiculite combustion chamber walls (NEW!!) • Turbulators for reduced flue gas speed and more efficient heat exchange • Combustion chamber with fully water-jacketed front face (NEW!!) to eliminate thermal stress between combustion parts and external panels • Combustion chamber with fully insulated top (hottest) section (NEW!!); latest generation insulation prevents heat loss to outside • Stable and rigid mounting thanks to built-in base and thick steel panels • Two inspection doors with closure adjustment brackets (NEW!!): 1. Fire door with flame viewing window 2. Ash bin door for removing and emptying the large ash bin, complete with overpressure safety valve for protection against explosion and/or flameback • Fully inspectable: in addition to the inspection doors, the flue gas collectors can also be inspected: 1. at the bottom, through the side and centre plugs 2. at the top, by removing the cover panel • The door handle lies flush with the front panel • The thermally insulated top and side panels have no visible screws • The turbulator shaker knobs are partly hidden Thermal insulation of the casing panels limits heat loss and keeps external surfaces cool. DOMUSFIRE BOILERS incorporate a large capacity pellet hopper (70 kg for models HR C29-HR C35-HR C39 and 50 kg for models HR C17-HR C24). Domusfire boilers come with provision for connection to an ad-ditional, 250 kg hopper with level sensor for automatic filling. Model HR C17-HR C24 (580x700x1300) Detectors stat Model HR C29-HR C35-HR C39 (700x700x1300) In the upper front panel are the control panel (mod.EVO) and the temperature gauge to display at every moment the state of operation of the boiler, the temperature and the pressure of the water. Information display Backlit LCD display Setting buttons and selection Setting buttons Power ON/Selection button 104 IR receiver 105 HYDRAULIC SYSTEM - Important innovations BURNER - Comprising: • External water circuit air vent • External water circuit drain cock •Adjustment of speed of pumps from the outside •The normal operation and basic maintenance of the water circuit in Cola boilers is extremely quick and easy. There is no need to re move casing panels as all devices are accessible from the outside. Cola boilers also have provision for connection to a second boiler with pump, a passive storage cylinder or a storage cylinder with plate heat exchanger. • Firebox designed for optimum distribution of primary and secondary air, with angled vertical mini-collectors (NEW!!) • Large, perforated, cast iron grate • Large diameter air inlet with flow meter Innovation In implementation of Directive 2005/32/EC, regulating the “design specifications of circulating pumps”, Cola, which is always at the forefront in improving its technology, has already introduced in the production of the DOMUSFIRE BOILER the ENERGY-SAVING SMART PUMP (i.e. A CIRCULATING PUMP FEATURING HIGH ENERGY EFFICIENCY AND LOW POWER CONSUMPTION tested and certified by an accredited laboratory) whose rotor is directly coupled to the turbine and immersed in the liquid being pumped (circulating pump without stuffing box). FLUE GAS EXHAUST - Comprising: Advantages: • 100 mm diameter pipe (NEW!!) • Cast iron coil on back wall of combustion chamber (NEW!!) • More powerful, 180 mm diameter extractor fan (NEW!!) • To clean the thermally insulated top section of the boiler, simply lift off the top panel (which is held in place by simple clips - no screws To clean the bottom section, simply open the ash bin door and remove the ash bin • and central plug. There is no need to remove the side panels • The heating system pumps have direct access from the outside for adjusting the speed The flue gas extractor can be removed easily, through the central panel on the rear • of the boiler • The electrical and electronic component box can be removed and replaced without having to remove the side panel.
