WELCOME TO A NEW SEASON AT
KINCAIDSTON & BELMONT BOWLING CLUB 2012
WE HAD A FANTASTIC OPENING DAY WHICH SAW A GREAT TURNOUT OF MEMBERS TO HAIL THE START OF THE NEW SEASON.
OUR LADY PRESIDENT MARYANN ELLISTON DELIVERED THE FIRST
JACK AND BOWL.
The gents president this year is Peter Elliston with his vice-president being Bob Crum, the lady vice president is Linda Glass.
The match secretary for the gents is Stan Anderson with his wife Margaret taking on the ladies job as the usual match secretary
Margaret Fulton stood down due to illness, and our best wishes go to her on her recovery.
The first two compe88ons of the season have been completed, with the KEYCO Singles being won by Eddie Wells who beat Colin Logan in the final, while the ladies event was won by Sheila Cole who defeated Margaret Anderson
The Kenny Long & G.Thomson singles was won by John Newall for the gents, he beat Colin Logan in the final and for the ladies is was
Sheila Cole who defeated Dawn Anderson.
The gents Senior League is under way with the team having a 100% record so far in the first 3 games winning home and away and
hope to keep this great start going when they play Newton Park this coming Friday 18th May.
The senior gents rinks lost out to Craigie in the first round of the SBA Senior Rinks at Newton Park
The gents were defeated in the first knockout compe88on of the Trophies League when they went down 6-2 to Forehill BC at Prestwick, the rink of Connor Cannell, Andy Watson,
John Riddicks and John Newall being the only team to record a victory.
Sheila Cole and John Newall started their SBA Mixed Pairs challenge with a comfortable win against Crooksmoss last night winning 218. The now play their next game at Home next Wednesday at 6:30 pm
This Saturday 18th May see’s the gents annual Invita8on triples take place, 16 triples will take part.
Tonight see’s the gents SBA comple8on start with Alex Kerr playing the singles, Billy and Stuart Cole play Seafield against former
Sco@sh Pairs Champions Gordon Nelson and Graham Campbell, and Eddie Wells George Belford & Alex MCcrone play in the triples,
while Andy Watson, Alec MCCann, John Riddicks and John Newall play at Northfield against Crooksmoss
FRIDAY 18TH MAY
Last night saw mixed results for the men in the Sco@sh Championship games. The pair of Willie and Stuart Cole
Gave the ex Sco@sh champs from Newton Park, Graham Campbell and Gordon Nelson a real run for the money
By taking it to the 3rd extra end before losing out. Alex Kerr won through in his singles contest winning 21-17 while the fours and
triples lost out in close games also.
Tonight the ladies start there league campaign and hope to beBer the men in there early round efforts, they play one game at home
and one away.
Just a fore note that our thoughts are with Carol McCann who goes in for surgery next week and our good wishes are sent to her and
her family.
THURSDAY 24TH JUNE
Alex Kerr and Connor Cannell both won their singles in the Sco@sh tonight. Connor won comfortably at WaEield, while Alex
won his game 21-15 against Forehill at Peter Boyle.
SUNDAY27TH MAY
The weekend saw overall disappointment for the ladies in the Sco@sh fours, over 55’s rinks and triples with no one going through to
the district finals at WaEield.
Alex Kerr went to Ardrossan for the champion of champions event, but went out at the first hurdle, he was beaten by Symington BC.

Sheila Cole and John Newall won their next round of the Sco@sh Mixed Pairs and now face a trip to take on Girvan on Wednesday 30th
May at Girvan, the kick off is at 6:30pm.
JUNE 6TH
The weekend went well with the weather holding up for the 16th running of the WAF Cup. There was a full
house of 48 players compe8ng for the prize.
Winners were Alex McCrone, Wilma Robertson and Connor Cannell, they beat Chris8ne Newall, Stuart Cole and
John Craig.
A big thanks go to all who played and to the sponsors, The Fulton Family and John Craig, also a big thanks to the
bar staff and all the people who worked in the kitchen.
Tonight see’s John Newall and Sheila Cole play the sec8on final of the District 19 Sco@sh Mixed Pairs, they
defeated Givan last week, to set up this match against Seafield at Kincadston.
Some results from the 8es, in the senior mixed singles Alice Bishop beat Maryann Elliston 15-11. In the Gents
Presidents Alex McCrone defeated Connor Cannell, and Stuart Watson beat Ryan O’Lone and In the senior gents
singles Jack Richmond beat George Craig.
Bert Grant and Ann Featherstonehaugh defeated George Craig and Bob Bishop in the seniors. Alex McCrone (+4)
beat Andy Watson(+2) in the handicap with Alex Kerr bea8ng Donald McLean in the same contest.
In the Helen Reddox singles, through to the next round are Kenny Long, Eddie Wells, Alex McCann,
Stan Anderson, Billy Cole, John Riddicks and Connor Cannell.
THURSDAY 7TH JUNE
Last Monday the gents recorded a fine victory over Ayr BC in the Charles Smith first round, they won by 16 shots. Three rinks recorded
victories with the rink skipped by John Riddicks recording the biggest winning margin, thev other rinks to win were skipped by John
Newall and Billy Cole.
Last night our Sco@sh mixed pairs run came to an end with defeat by Seafield BC.
In the gents Championship singles Stan Anderson beat Tam Allan. Donald Mclean beat Josie Holland in the senior singles.
This weekends Willie Thomson Open Pairs has been cancelled and will now be played on Saturday 8th September.
Also this weekend see’s more ladies Sco@sh playdowns with Shonna Kerr and Sheila Cole playing the singles at Ayr and there are two
sets of pairs also represen8ng the club.
Tonight George Craig beat Hugh Anderson 15-14 in the senior singles, while John Craig and HeBy Moore defeated Alex Kerr and Josie
Holland in the senior mixed pairs.
FRIDAY 8TH JUNE
The seniors rink of Alex Kerr, Colin Logan, George Craig and Joe McGinlay lost out to Newton Park in the Ayrshire Senior Fours this
aLernoon at Hawkhill BC.
FRIDAY 29TH JUNE
Been a while since the last update and much has happened. First off the ladies are making most of the headlines and are flying the flag
with merit, Sheila Cole has made it to the finals at Northfield in the Sco@sh Single, 25th July, our wishes to do well are sent from us all.
In the Ayrshire under 16 District playdowns for triples this Sunday !st July is Dawn Anderson we wish her all the best and hope as many
as possible can see her there. On Monday 2nd July in the WOS TRIPLES we have Ruth Nichols, Elaine Greenlees and Shona Kerr. On
Tuesday 3rd July in the sec8on semi-final of the Ayrshires we have three representa8ves, in the singles is Margaret Anderson that’s at
Kincaidston at 2pm and at Crooksmoss 2pm in the Triples is Elaine Greenlees, Mary Paterson and Sheila Cole and at Newton Park 2pm
in the rinks are Maryann Elliston, Chris8ne Newall, Sandra, McEwing and Sheila Murray, our best wishes go to them all.
On the home front the gents will have a new Champion this year as Alex Kerr was defeated by John Riddicks. Through to the 1/4 final
of the championship are A.McCann who plays Stuart Watson, also Connor Cannell who beat Stuart Cole he meets Stan Anderson.
