As an industry authority on corrugated sheet
feeding, we’ve conquered the most challenging
applications with our proprietary technology
and unique machinery innovations.
By working directly with corrugated converters and
our global equipment partners (OEM customers) for
three decades, we’ve adapted our technology to
thousands of equipment models all over the globe.
Feeding from SUN Automation Group
Changing the Standard
Reliability
With rugged transmissions and feeding surface, our feeders
require minimal maintenance.
Accuracy
With precise and consistent acceleration, sheets move through
the machine with extreme accuracy. Sheets are fed with proper
registration, even at high speeds.
Fewer Jams, More Options
Through vacuum suction, even reasonably warped sheets move
through the machine with ease.

Precision and Performance
For high-speed flexo-folder-gluers, feeding six sheets per second,
feeders from SUN Automation Group® are preferred globally.

Extend-O-Feed®
Lead Edge Feeder
Extend-O-Feed has been used on more than 7,000 corrugated
production lines in over 40 countries. In nearly three decades of
product evolution we’ve brought hundreds of feeder applications
to life; high-speed, heavy-duty, rotary die-cutters, flexo-folder
gluers, printer-slotters, minis to jumbos, and even feeders for
crossover substrates.
The patented extended stroke design and pioneering velocity
profile allow the feeder to transfer the sheet well beyond the feed
roll nip. This means accurate registration and reduced crush by the
feed roll grip. The wheel pattern and vacuum system can handle
warped sheets, thin flutes, and cross-corrugated sheets.
Feeding from SUN Automation Group
Benefits
Superior accuracy
Fewer jams and less downtime
Increased sheet support and traction
Even wheel tread wear
Ability to run lower quality and/or warped board
Features
Maintenance-free transmission
Vacuum control with a staggered wheel pattern
Low friction metal grate runners
15-20 year life span
Extend-O-Feed is available for almost all manufacturers and can
be retrofitted to your existing machines.

Extend-O-Feed:
How It Works
Extended stroke feeding means corrugator scores can be fed
beyond the feed roll nip before the feeder stops feeding.
This means less feed roll crush and better accuracy.

velocity as the feed rolls

Feeding from SUN Automation Group
The grate on Extend-O-Feed moves up and down. For superior
performance, this movement is adjustable based on the sheet
length and stroke setting, as set by the operator. When the
grate lowers at the same point in each cycle, the wheels are
stopped briefly.
For small sheets, the grate may only be down long enough to get
the lead edge into the feed rolls. For long sheets, the grate can
stay down until the lead edge is well beyond the first print nip.

Exact-O-Feed®
Lead Edge Feeder
With precise cam action and a large vacuum area, Exact-O-Feed
is designed for the precise feed distance required by platen style
converting machines. This delivers sheets at the exact distance
and time required for the gripper bar.
Engineered with high accuracy and a rugged transmission, the
machine runs continuously at high speeds with little maintenance.
The vacuum system flattens reasonable warp effectively, reducing
jams and downtime.

Transmissions
SUN Automation’s smooth, rugged feeder transmissions perform
with extreme accuracy at all speeds. Its unique velocity profile
provides a stable period of constant velocity, precisely matching
the feed roll velocity. The reliability and consistency of our cam
system provides the accuracy to accelerate sheets five, six, or
seven cycles per second.

Printed Corrugated
Welcome to CorrStream®
The CorrStream series of digital printers are
designed and built to serve the corrugated industry.
By combining established inkjet technology with
SUN Automation Group® material handling expertise,
high output digital printing is now available to the
industry in a familiar format.
CorrStream®
Why it Matters
Lower Quantities
Pressures on box converters are increasing. Reduced print runs
are now common, leaving analogue print methods inadequate for
the new consumer-driven markets. Single pass, high output digital
printing offers lower operating costs and quicker turnaround.
Higher Quality
CorrStream offers some of the highest quality print available
on corrugated substrates, achieving more than 80% of the spot
color range on uncoated and coated stock.
Sized to Your Needs
CorrStream’s various sizes accomodate your production needs:
CorrStream20 - 557mm (1000 x 1600 sheet)
CorrStream40 - 783mm (1000 x 1600 sheet)
CorrStream66 - 1345mm (1600 x 3000 sheet)

MicroGrind® Die Cut
Accuracy System
For years, machine designers attempted to trim the anvil with
several different methods. While there were advantages, SUN
Automation saw more room for improvement. Working closely
with experienced converters, our engineers developed a method
to utilize more machine formats and raise container quality.
Our Promise
The first die cut board is cut as precise as the last, even on high
quantity output jobs at different points in the life of the anvil.
Why MicroGrind?

MicroGrind bottom
anvil installation
sunautomation.com | 410.472.2900
Adapting for You
For years, MicroGrind was only available for bottom anvil
applications. If installed on a top anvil machine, dust
generated from the grinding roll interfered with box quality.
This was unacceptable.
SUN Automation engineers, unwilling to compromise, got
to work. At first a vacuum collection system removed dust
directly from where it was generated.
However, we faced a challenge.
The vacuum system blocked access to the anvil drum and
grinding roll. Not wanting to prevent regular maintenance
and inspection, SUN Automation divided the vacuum system
into two sections connected by a hinged joint.
This allowed the vacuum system to swing open during
maintenance. Now top anvil applications are able to enjoy
MicroGrind benefits, including:
Labor savings
Productivity gain
Quality impact
Reduction in wear on cutting dies
Converting from SUN Automation Group
How MicroGrind Works
A full-width tungsten carbide grinding roll engages against the
entire surface of the anvil at the same rotation speed. Micro
amounts (0.001” or 0.025 mm) are automatically removed every
10,000 impressions without operator intervention.
Running at the same speed ensures accuracy. Combined with
the die cutting on a uniform service, the quality of each box is
greatly enhanced.

Dwell Units
Ensure printing is completed by placing a dwell unit

improved safety gates; and powered bundle exit conveyors to
better protect operators during jam removal.
Increase average running speeds
Improve the life of all the moving mechanical parts
Eliminate edge damage to boxes at high speeds

High Speed Counter-Ejector for Langston
With today’s demand for higher production speed, accurate squaring,
and precise bundle count, our engineering team designed a new
counter-ejector utilizing servo motion technology. Configured first
for the Langston Saturn flexo-folder-gluers, this product will be
unveiled in 2015.
