Accessibility Overview
Compliance with the Americans With Disabilities Act of 1992
has made remodeling and building new bath projects more of
a challenge – but it’s nothing compared with the challenges
the physically impaired and elderly face every day.
That’s why at Swan we’ve used our 35 years of healthcare and
commercial experience to design a full suite of products –
including many ADA-compliant showers, vanity systems and
barrier-free accessories – that not only make your project
easier to complete, they also make life easier for those who
need it most.
Aging in Place vs. ADA Accessibility
Essentially, Aging in Place is the ability to live in your own
home comfortably and safely for as long as possible. It often
involves modifying your home with products and features
that will support adults as they grow older. Aging in Place is a
proactive approach to home design that seeks to prevent future
medical problems. So with a little up front planning, you can
significantly extend the length of time at your home.
ADA Accessibility Guidelines are code-specific requirements
for public buildings and federally subsidized housing. They
are standards that benefit people with disabilities. While
residential homes do not require the same specifications, many
of the guidelines are worth considering for your home because
they were developed to make environments more livable and

Swanstone
Swanstone is a compression molded compound that consists of a blend of polymer
resins, fillers and reinforcement additives. In the manufacturing process, Swanstone
transforms into a thermoset material that has extreme resistance to heat, impact,
expansion and chemicals.
Veritek®
Veritek is a compression molded, thermoset polyester material comprised of fiberglass,
polyester resins and natural mineral fillers with no surface coating to chip or crack.

High-Gloss is a compression molded material with a durable baked-on industrial
coating with a very high shine. It is a non-porous material that will not mold or mildew.

easy entry and exit in mind. A low
threshold is a must allowing someone
to roll a wheelchair directly into the
shower. When remodeling existing space,
Swan has the floor to fit your need.

Barrier-Free Shower Floors fit standard
30” x 60” bathtub areas – replaces a
bathtub without moving exisiting plumbing.
A separate ramp meets ADA quidelines.

standard size 3" drain pipe.
With outside dimensions of 34" x 64" and interior clearances
greater than 30" x 60", this
shower floor is ADA-compliant
in new construction. The floor
installs directly and easily to
the subfloor, which eliminates
the need of expensive labor to
adjust floor height. The trough
drain, placed on the front edge
of the floor means there is no
need to use an additional ramp to
create a barrier-free threshold.

Retrofit Shower Floors

For people who want to Age in
Place and remodel their existing
homes for easier access, Swan’s
retrofit 32” x 60” shower floor
is the perfect solution. Although
not ADA-compliant, this floor is
designed to replace an existing
bathtub without replacing the
existing plumbing. The retrofit
floor features a lower threshold
than standard floors for easy
entry and is available in either
a left or right-hand drain.

a variety or colors and styles including ADA-compliant options. These bowls are beautiful and
extraordinarily durable, making them perfect for both residential and commercial projects.
Undermount bowls install under most countertop materials such as granite, solid surface and tile.
