Today, the new Renaissance has begun as the world’s most visionary minds gather to solve the biggest crisis to date
– namely, the extinction of the human species.
Opening in the midst of a climate change-induced catastrophe, and extending through the early days of space
colonization, the series follows an ensemble cast of forward-looking billionaires, world leaders and genius savants
all clashing over the right way to save, and possibly evolve, humanity.
After a frenetic technological era where little attention was paid to urgent climate change issues, Earth has crossed
the tipping point and now, amongst many other pressing concerns, the honeybees are dying and the human species
must try to survive with limited fresh food and where every day brings them closer to extinction.
Some other notable events that happened right before our series begins in or around 2018:
• In 2016, President Obama made an announcement that the effects of climate change were much worse than
scientists earlier predicted and, if we don’t start making immediate changes, the world as we know it could end;
• Instead of real strides being taken, the United States then elected a very conservative Tea Party candidate who
was assasinated in his first weeks in office, leaving his Vice President, Angela Harris, in charge.
• At roughly the same time, some unknown entity destroyed both Mecca and Jerusalem with dirty bombs.
This atrocity killed millions of people and heightening tensions worldwide.
With this as the background, the series tracks five disparate groups as they seek radical solutions to save humanity.

Sophie runs THE HORIZON FOUNDATION, a non-profit dedicated to the advancement of the human species.
Although THF is funded by Picardo Industries, one of the larges companies on the planet, it is also completely
autonomous. Sophie’s company also hosts a yearly conference on her sprawling working vineyard in Northern
California. Sophie’s the core of the series, the nucleus, the den mom, the visionary amongst visionaries... and we will
soon come to love her. She’s also the driving force behind the idea that if humanity is going to survive into the next
century, they need to move and colonize space.
