A group of club members met on
January 30 at the Hospital with the new

Lane, discussing the avenue of ABTO’s
support with PCH. Jerry McKenzie was
in attendance and recognized as the

out and maintenance program.
Recently, ABTO started a new project of a waterfall and pond with fish at
PCH. We have a slight glitch in the construction of the pond foundation,
which should be taken care of within the next month of construction. An outside contractor is proceeding with the correction of the repair.
We also expressed an interest in supplementing any of the hospital activities with ABTO’s modules, mainly “Jerry’s Trains,” since they are smaller and
easier to set up.
The hospital representatives expressed an interest for more “signage,”
recognizing the subcontractors involved in constructing portions of the atrium
location under Ed Dunshie’s direction.
Drop by and see the fruits of ABTO’s club members. A fine product to
help with the healing process of those in the hospital.

Saturday, February 4, the 1st interactive club meeting was held at

club’s activities, it was decided that AGRS would host the first
ABTO general meeting in November. This should be a fun event
as there is a lot to see on this railroad that some members might
be unaware of. More information will be posted at a later date.

Jack Slinkard is one of our club favorites, a long
time member. Unfortunately, he has been in a
care facility ( Sun Grove ) while Drs continue to
run tests. Let’s cheer him
on so that he gets back on his feet soon.
Would you like to go to Europe?
We are looking for a gentleman who is interested in
going on the “Rail Fans to the Glaciers” trip in May.
Ed Hook would like very much to share the cost of the
trip. If you , or if you know of anyone who would like to

News from the 2008 Convention Committee
by Mike Lewandowski
As we start the New Year, the Convention countdown is progressing very smoothly. With
just 28 months left, 2006 will become an important year in establishing many of the sub
committees budgets, manpower requirements, and major convention advertising on the
internet and trade magazines. We also expect to bring the signup of potential manufacturers and vendors for our Vendor Hall.
From our Jan 28th, 2006 meeting, we are well on our way to meeting overall convention goals. Here are just
several goals that have been completed to date.
Gerry Pfeiffer has been selected as our ABTO volunteer coordinator. He will have assistance from the Tucson
club. This position will coordinate all volunteer requirements from
each sub-committee, develop a list of volunteers, and schedule manpower requirements during the convention week.
Linda Wendler has the convention internet site up and running. You
need to check it out. Then call her and let her know how great it is.
www.ngrc2008.org.htm
Convention publicity will commence in the May 2006 issue of Garden
Railroad magazine. Our AZ convention booth will be setup at the
2006 National Convention in the Bay Area during the 1st week of
July.
Sandy is working on signage for use at the convention publicity tables, at the member ’ s open houses and brochure material. Wait
