Start with an age-old rivalry, then throw in a football field and a worthy cause, and you've got Blondes vs.Brunettes (BvB), a flag football game played by 50 of the area’s most talented, bright and beautiful women in their 20s and 30s all fundraising for a common cause: The Alzheimer’s Association. The two teams will compete on Manhattan soil for the first time this spring and we are looking for sponsors to help build an atmosphere of fierce — but friendly — competition. Playfully called “Blondes vs. Brunettes,” this third party, volunteer-driven event was founded by Ryan Triplette and Sara Allen Abbott in Washington, DC in 2005 to help tackle Alzheimer’s. More than 10 million Baby Boomers will develop Alzheimer’s in the coming years. It is the 6th leading cause of death and a rising percentage of people are being diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s in their 30’s and 40’s. Since its inception in 2005, Blondes vs. Brunettes has raised more than $1,000,000 for the Alzheimer’s Association nationally. Drawing on BvB’s success across the country in markets including Washington, DC, Chicago and Austin, the Junior Committee of the Alzheimer’s Association, New York City Chapter is ecstatic to bring BvB to New York for the first time. Fair-haired, raven-haired, and everything in between sign up, fundraise and practice for a chance to be on the official team. Leading up to game day, teams will participate in a series of events to fundraise, socialize and increase awareness for Alzheimer’s disease. Please review the materials in the enclosed package to learn how you can tackle Alzheimer’s disease with us. the FaCtS • As many as 5.3 million people in the United States are living with Alzheimer’s • More than 250,000 New Yorkers suffer from Alzheimer’s • Every 70 seconds someone develops Alzheimer’s • Alzheimer’s is the sixthleading cause of death. • There is no cure for Alzheimer’s. www.bvbnyc.org The Junior Committee of the Alzheimer’s Association, NYC Chapter is dedicated to raising awareness of Alzheimer’s and related dementias to individuals in their 20s and 30s through events, support and education to further the efforts of the NYC Chapter.
