ary, 2012
The June members meeting is Saturday 06/01 -- 0730 at
Jacks restaurant on South Virginia street. This will be a joint
meeting of both clubs and will be the time to open and count
the ballots that were returned.
At the 05/16 Board meeting, the club treasurer Bill Nichols, NN7K gave
his resignation and it was accepted by the Chairman. The position will be
filled and will be discussed at the June 1 meeting.
The swap meet had some hiccups, but turned out to be a great location,
good weather and productive for swappers, people taking the ham cram and
then the FCC License exam.
There will be several new training sessions that will be offered for new
hams and experienced hams. Tony, N7ACM and his crew are working on
them and will make announcements to members of both clubs and prospective
members as well.
Several of the club members are getting certified to mentor Boy Scouts
that want to gain their Radio Merit Badge. This will be fun and another
opportunity to present Amateur radio to more young folks.
See you all at the club meeting

THE NEW HAMS & INFORMATION NET
The New Hams Q&A Net on 146.610. The net is held weekly at 1300, every Sunday afternoon.
The purpose of this net is a Q&A and information net for newly licensed hams and all hams
wishing to ask question about different aspects of Ham Radio. It will give new hams in
particular a venue for getting on the air in a controlled net moderated by a ham with more
experience. The net will be open to any interested ham. Questions will be answered and
discussed by the more experienced hams listening on the Net.
For those in the North Valley’s who may be out of the range of the 146.610 try
using the 443.075 (+/123). It works from Lemmon Valley.

Field Day 2013 is coming 22-23 June this year and we could use some help to make
it an enjoyable event. There will be 7 bands, a VHF/UHF and a GOTA station in 3
different modes, CW, voice and digital; so with 23 possibilities there is lots of room to do
what you like to do on your favorite band and mode.
We would like to setup so that there are no duplicates, to that end please email
[email protected] with your intention; i.e. 80M CW or 160M, 80M & 40M CW
depending on time of day. Also are you open to helping other ham’s or visitors learn /
operate in your mode, such as digital?
There are other positions available that are not operating positions such as BBQ
cook (not to worry Mike and Jon Fox already claimed that spot), welcomer etc; we will
have a list a little later on.
No matter if you’re a serious contester, just like to hang around with hams for the
day or somewhere in between, we would like you to participate.
We have a site here in town – There is a large empty in the area of the intersection
of Wedge Parkway and Arrow Creek Parkway – Just West of the South Valley Public
Library. With an entrance into the lot at Whites Creek Drive.
Maps and more information will be coming your way shortly.
So help us out, let us know if you will help out and or participate. You are not
locked into it, we understand things change.

Name that Rig - Answer
Art Bell's 5-Acre
Antenna Farm
The large loop antenna supported by these
poles helps give Art (W6OBB) his exceptionally
strong signal on 160, 80 and 40 meters.
The thirteen white poles above are 75 feet
high. They support a two-wire loop antenna
with a 1595-foot circumference. Because there
are two vertically-spaced horizontal loops, the
poles support 3190-feet of antenna wire. The
tower at the rear on the right-hand side
supports rotatable HF log-periodic and VHF
antennas.
