THE
TENORS
M Marcus Collins
Marcus began performing at age 4, learning
how to sing by emulating
Garth Brooks, George
Michael and Freddie
Mercury before training classically in college. As an actor, he has
appeared in more than
100 episodes of network
television and 25 films,
including “P.S. I Love
You,”
JC Fisher
The Texas Tenors
8 p.m.,
July 14
With their Emmy Award winning PBS
special and Billboard chart topping albums,
The Texas Tenors are America’s favorite
new tenors.
Since their debut six years ago on NBC’s
“America’s Got Talent,” The Texas Tenors
have performed more than 1,000 concerts
around the world, including in the United
Kingdom; Shanghai, China; and in collaborations with prestigious U.S. symphonies. The
Texas Tenors were recently named the No.
10 Classical Artist in the world, according
to Billboard magazine.
From Bruno Mars to Puccini, Marcus
Collins, John Hagen and JC Fisher bring a
unique blend of country, classical, broadway
and current pop music—with a touch of
cowboy charm.
18
M JC Fisher
JC is the founder of The
Texas Tenors. In high
school, he had a passion
for sports and enjoyed
singing in church. JC
performed various roles
including Rodolfo in
“La Boheme,” Tamino
in “The Magic Flute”
and Ernesto in “Don
Pasquale.” He formed
the Texas Tenors after
worldwide performances
aboard cruise ships.
M John Hagen
John made his Lincoln
Center debut in New
York City in Teatro Grattacielo’s mounting of
Mascagni’s “Gulglielmo
Ratcliff.” He created
three tenor roles in the
world premier of “The
Lost Dauphane” for
Pamiro Opera airing on
PBS. Hagen is highly
regarded for his performances of the Verdi Requiem and Beethoven’s
Symphony No. 9 in many
U.S. symphonies.
Marcus Collins
MThe tenors have performed over 1,000
concerts since 2009.
MThe tenors won 3 Emmy Awards,
including Best Entertainment Program,
Musical Composition and Sound for their
PBS Special “You Should Dream.”

AMPHI EATS
Cold Stone Creamery: Ice cream is
made fresh every day in every store.
It’s churned from the finest ingredients and available for purchase from
a cart near the St. Andrews side of
the Amphitheater.
S
ummer nights of music at the Leisure World Amphitheater start with friends, food and wine.
People are welcome to bring their own picnics for tailgate parties or settle at one of the umbrellaed patio tables around the bowl. For the less ambitious, there will be a variety of food trucks and
carts selling sweet and savory fare.
The Viking Truck: Treat yourself to handcrafted sausage with
bold European flavors. The
menu includes corn dogs, hot
dogs, chili, tater tots and more.
Porko Rico Barbecue: It’s specialty is slow-smoked American
barbecue with a Caribbean twist.
In addition to pulled pork, the
truck offers smoked and braised
beef brisket with caramelized
peppers and onions and mango
barbecue sauce, jerk chicken,
grilled cheese and lots of other
festive fare.
Koffel’s Food Service provides American diner fare—tacos, hamburgers, hotdogs, BLTs, candy and soda to go for the show. It’s located in
the parking lot adjacent to the Amphitheater near St. Andrews.
Take a night off from cooking and
enjoy bratwurst on a bun.

Since 1994, Brad Ford has performed as John Fogerty, pioneering the
Creedence Clearwater Revival Tribute:
Fortunate Son.
Combining timeless CCR favorites
and John Fogerty’s solo hits, Fortunate
Son unites rock, country, blues, and folk
music like no other tribute.
The band plays all the classics— the
swampy blues of “Born on the Bayou”
and “Green River,” the country classics of “Bad Moon Rising,” “Lodi”
and “Lookin’ Out My Back Door” and
rock anthems such as “Proud Mary,”
“Centerfield,” “Who’ll Stop the Rain”
and “Have You Ever Seen the Rain.”
The band has delivered the authentic

FOUR FRESHMAN
In The Beginning
1948
In 1948, four young men created a sound that forever changed the way vocal jazz harmony was heard and performed. Known as The Four Freshmen, the group started with
two brothers, Don and Ross Barbour, their cousin Bob Flanigan and friend Hal Kratzsch.
With a soaring true tenor in Bob Flanigan, the group began a sound —playing bowling
alleys and small clubs across the country—that has endured for over six decades. Early on
in their career, the Freshmen met Stan Kenton. He had heard the rumors of a vocal group
that sounded like his band. Once Kenton heard them, he got the Freshmen signed in 1950.
During the Capital years, the Freshmen had some of their biggest hits, including their first
hit with Capital, “It’s A Blue World.”
And Now
The group never disbanded, even after the last original
member, Bob Flanigan, retired in 1993. During its long history, The Four Freshmen had 24 distinct line-ups among 25
different members.
The current Four Freshmen lineup:
BOB FERREIRA joined the Freshmen in 1992, sings the
bass vocal part and plays drums. In his tenure with the Freshmen, Ferreira has performed in 50 states, over 10 countries and
is credited on 11 band recordings.
TOMMY BOYNTON from Aurora, Co., is the newest

Rick Schuler’s Tribute to John Denver—
Rocky Mountain High Experience
8 p.m., Aug. 4
Sponsored in part by Charles Briskey On-Site Sales
26
Louisiana-born and Missouri-raised Rick
Schuler was 13 when comparisons to the then
wildly popular John Denver began. He first
mastered Denver’s revered “Sunshine on My
Shoulders,” and that was the start of a lifelong
salute to American singer-songwriter, actor,
activist and humanitarian.
At 18, Rick was featured on a TV show
“Incredible Kids & Co” on CBS. After a
subsequent radio performance on “The Jack
Carney Show” starring as “The John Denver
Guy,” Rick moved to California to pursue his
own Americana songwriting career. But he
continued to perform Denver’s music.
Rick’s Denver-inspired country roads led
him to Aspen, Colo., where he attended his
first John Denver tribute. During the course
of the two-day event, Rick met several of
Denver’s former band mates and close friends
who were nothing short of astonished by the
similarities the two shared in look, sound and
musical talent.
Rick’s tribute to Denver embodies the
longing for home, the longing for love and
the longing for God through nature that are
at the heart of Denver’s hit songs.
SUMMER AT THE SHOW

Free GRF Minibuses will be available to
transport LWers to and from Thursday evening
Amphitheater performances. The regularly
scheduled evening “B” bus will run from 5:54
p.m.-8 p.m. There are five stops at the HCC/
Amphitheater between 6:18 and 7:44 p.m.
Passengers can also flag down buses
from safe curbside locations along any of the
Minibus routes.
Check the LW Minibus schedule for
specific times and travel routes. (Minibus
schedules are available at The News Office.)
A minibus will be at the Amphitheater,
ready to board, about 15 minutes before the
end of the show.
The bus driver will take riders to safely
accessible locations near their LW homes. If
the minibus is full, the driver will return to
pick up remaining passengers.
There are over 60 bus benches and shelters
throughout the community, so people can
comfortably wait for a shuttle to roll by.
The blue-and-white shuttles are a fixture
in Leisure World and provide easy roundtown transportation, including to and from
Amphitheater shows.

In The Name Of Love,” “You Can’t Hurry
Love,” “Love Child,” “Where Did Our Love
Go,” “Come See About Me,” “Ain’t No
