Stefan Bellof set a lap record for the 12.9 mi Nordschleife
in his Porsche 956 with a time of 6:11.13 with
approximately 120mph average speed. To this day, it has
yet to be removed as the fastest time.

Castrol-chicane replaced with a sharp right-hander
nicknamed “Haug-Hook.” This created an overtaking
opportunity.
