Dear Philoptochos Sisters,
On behalf of the Ladies of the Metropolis of Chicago Philoptochos Society Board, may I extend our most heartfelt wishes for
the New Year to you and your loved ones.
We once again find ourselves at the beginning of another new
year. It is a time of making new resolutions, setting goals and
the opportunity for reflection. As in years past, we can reflect
on 2012 as being another busy and productive year. One of the
most momentous times this past year was the support that was
demonstrated at the convention for the Philoptochos Center of
Philanthropy.
Many of you were fortunate to witness this enthusiasm at the
Clergy-Laity and Philoptochos Conference in Phoenix. It is
with great joy and pride that this dream of a permanent home
for Philoptochos is now a reality, because of each and every
Philoptochos chapter and steward. We had a challenge put in
front of us, and as Philoptochos stewards we took thoughtful
and responsible steps in securing this new home. As your Metropolis president, I am proud to inform you that 100% of our
sister chapters in our Metropolis came forward and become an
integral part of the “Giving Tree” challenge. Each chapter in
the Metropolis of Chicago will have its name adorned on the
Giving Tree Wall. Philoptochos truly has created a legacy for
generations to come.
Membership growth continues to be an ongoing goal. All it
takes is one woman asking another to be part of this sisterhood.
If I may quote National Philoptochos President Aphrodite
Skeadas, “Philoptochos is not just members of an organization;
we are one sisterhood, one family united in a very precious
way.” Please find the courage and determination to embrace
just one woman, and invite her into this awesome sisterhood.
In 2013, go forth as Philoptochos stewards and continue to give
understanding, compassion and hope to those in need. Work
through your personal and community challenges, and be
thankful and reflect on all good things that Our Lord and Savior has provided us.
Again, my heartfelt wishes to you and your loved ones this
New Year, and may 2013 bring you health, joy, peace and
hope.

Metropolis of Chicago Philoptochos
Celebrates Feast Day of its Patron Saints, SS Cosmas and Damianos
At the beginning of November, the Ladies Philoptochos Society, nationally as well as within each individual chapter, again celebrates the Feast Day of its patron saints, SS Cosmas and Damianos (Agioi Anargyroi), the Holy Unmercenaries, with special services and events. The Agioi Anargyroi, twin brothers and physicians, provided medical care for free as part of their pastoral ministry.
Within the Metropolis of Chicago, we are very fortunate to have the Holy Anargyroi Chapel within the Parish of St. Demetrios in
Elmhurst, Illinois, in which we are able to offer prayers to these saints for all of our Philoptochos members. On Wednesday, evening, October 31, 2012, a Vesper and Artoclasia Service was held at the Holy Anargyroi Chapel. During this service, prayers were
read which not only honored our patron saints, but were read for the health and well-being of our Philoptochos Members within our
Metropolis.
Following this beautiful Vesper Service, refreshments were served by the St. Demetrios Ladies Philoptochos, and as has become a
tradition following this service, a very heartfelt and informative lecture was presented by Rev. Dn. Panagiotis Gikas, M.D. Fr.
Panayioti is currently an internal medicine resident at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee and was also ordained to the
Holy Diaconate on March 25, 2012, by His Eminence Metropolitan Iakovos of Chicago. In addition to his medical profession, each
Sunday, Dr. Gikas has been serving in the Divine Liturgy as a Deacon with His Eminence Iakovos. Rev. Dn. Panayiotis Gikas presentation was entitled: The Relationship Between Faith and Science: An Orthodox Perspective. Dn. Panayioti clearly and humbly
explained how our Orthodox faith and the field of medical science are intertwined, and how science is God’s work as an offering for
the improvement of life. All of those present that evening were truly inspired by his presentation.
The next day on Sunday, November 1st, the Feast Day of our patron saints, SS. Cosmas and Damianos, parishes within the Metropolis honored their Philoptochos members and their efforts by offering an Artoclasia for the living members, offering a memorial service for those members who have fallen asleep in the Lord, and/or through sponsoring the fellowship hour following the services on
that day. May we, as Philoptochos Sisters, continue to pray to our dear Lord for His strength and guidance, and honor the contributions of all of our members on the first Sunday of November as it coincides with the Feast Day of our Patron Saints.

On Thanksgiving Day, many individuals who had nowhere to go, and live in the neighborhood surrounding
the Annunciation Cathedral in Chicago, were served a
Thanksgiving meal with all the trimmings and as they
departed, were presented with a gift. More than any
other day during the year, it warms your heart to see the
faces of these individuals in a loving place, enjoying a
hot meal. His Eminence Metropolitan Iakovos attended
on Thanksgiving Day, greeted, and served the people.
The complete Thanksgiving meal is served on this day
by the Annunciation Cathedral and St George Chicago
Philoptochos Chapters, with Young Adults, Junior and
Senior GOYANS assisting.
The "Feed the Hungry Program" started May 1991, currently in its 22nd year, and going strong. It was the idea of the Diocese President at that time, Mrs. Georgia
Barris and with the blessings of then Bishop and now Metropolitan Iakovos, it started once a month and soon
became twice a month.
It takes place at the Annunciation Cathedral, located just north of downtown Chicago on the second and last
Tuesday each month. Reverend Fr. Nicholas Nikokavouras, Proistamenos of the Cathedral blesses the meal
and all join in prayer before each feeding. Philoptochos chapters participate, they prepare meals at their own
churches and they are there along with some regular volunteers to serve. To date, it is estimated that more
than 40,000 meals have been served.

The Annual Metropolis of Chicago Christmas Open
House was celebrated on Sunday December16, at the
Metropolis Home.
The Event was hosted by His Eminence Metropolitan
Iakovos, His Grace Bishop Demetrios of Mokissos,
the Metropolis Council, and the Ladies Philoptochos
board under the direction of the Metropolis President, Irene Arsoniadis and Chair Ladies, Cathy
Gofis, Pat Galanis and Olga Paxinos.
His Eminence and His Grace welcomed approximately 500 guests. Among the guests were the Honorable Consul of Greece, Ms. Ioanna Efthymiadou,
Hierarchs, Clergy, Archons and many faithful from
the Metropolis surrounding communities.
His Eminence and his Grace, along with Clergy and
Chanters, began the festivities with prayer and
Christmas apolitikia in the dining room followed by
the blessing of the food.
Through the generosity of the Philoptochos chapters,
the Metropolis Board and other Community patrons,
the Home was decorated this year in a Victorian
theme, with a spectacular Christmas tree, festive
garlands, and lovely floral centerpieces.
The dining room table was filled with an abundance
of refreshments, both sweet and savory. The guests
passing through the beautifully decorated rooms
were greeted by His Eminence and His Grace. The
children were presented with a gift from His Eminence. One the Highlights of the evening was the
singing of the Junior choir of the SS Constantine and
Helen Church of Palos Hills, and the Children from
the St. Haralambos of Niles, Greek afternoon School.
The enthusiasm of all the children was truly rewarding.
As has become our custom, donations of food were
received for the Greater Chicago Food Depository.
This beautiful evening of prayer, greetings, embracing and heartfelt wishes concluded with an overjoyed
Metropolitan taking a rest in his chair, being happy
to have received his flock on this Holy of Holiest
Season.

PHILOPTOCHOS CENTER OF PHILANTHROPY/
GIVING TREE INITIATIVE
The Philoptochos Center of Philanthropy, long a dream, is now
a reality with the announcement of the purchase of the property
in New York. The initiative, which began at the Philoptochos
Convention in Atlanta, 2010, and continued at the Philoptochos
Convention in Phoenix last July, culminated in the nationwide
“Giving Tree” appeal. We are so proud of all of our Metropolis
of Chicago chapters for coming forward to donate to this appeal
and due to their generosity we have had 100% participation.
This accomplishment would not have been possible without the
guidance of our President Irene Arsoniadis, who initiated the
Metropolis Board Chapter Liaisons endeavor. Each Metropolis
Liaison contacted their assigned chapters and worked with them
to help them achieve a Giving Tree leaf donation. Vice Presidents, Pam Argyris and Marilyn Tzakis, with zeal and enthusiasm, charted the progress of each chapter and were also part of
the “hit” squad that went in when chapters were undecided,
(after all we are the Chicago Philoptochos). Each chapter in
our Metropolis will have a gold leaf with their chapter name on
the Giving Tree wall in our new home. We’d like to express
our sincere gratitude to the following chapters for donating additional funds to help smaller chapters in need to achieve this
milestone:

that the Greek Orthodox Ladies Philoptochos Society will have
a permanent home to serve others, both now and in the future.
We hope that each chapter will continue to support the move
into the Philoptochos Center of Philanthropy as an investment
in life, hope and a brighter future.

“ Let us not be weary in doing good, for at the proper time we
will reap a harvest if we do not give up and therefore, as we
have opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto
them who are of the household of faith.” This reading from
Galatians 6:9-10 rings a clear message and a correlation with
those listed below who gave from their heart a monetary donation to help brighten the Christmas season for our neediest
cases. The Christmas Wish List program, stewarded by the
Philoptochos Philanthropy Fund has been instrumental in providing little extra for families, the elderly, and single parents at
the Holy season of Christmas. Our “clients” forward their sincere gratitude to the following individuals and chapters who
participated in this program in 2012.

Metropolis of Chicago Philoptochos Society
The date for the Twelfth Annual St. Helen Women’s Philoptochos “ MARIA PAZOLES Memorial Quilt-a-thon” has
been set for Saturday, April 6, 2013. The committee has
been shopping for fabric and supplies while many of our St.
Helen sisters have assisted us by washing and ironing fabrics and participating in the workshops which have been
held.
Distribution of the 2012 quilts is nearly completed. Along
with our usual recipients such as Children’s Memorial, La
Rabida, Shriner’s Hospital, Hope Children’s Hospital, etc.,
we have been able to extend our distributions to other areas
of the Metropolis including Blank Children’s Hospital in
Des Moines, Iowa, St. Anthony Health in Michigan City,
Indiana, Children’s Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri Cardinal
Glennon Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, Nurses for Newborns in St. Louis Missouri and outside the Metropolis to
Kids ‘N’ Cancer Agape Camps through the San Francisco
Metropolis.
In the future we hope to give to Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and the Philoxenia House in Minnesota.
Soon we will be sending letters, flyers and other notices to
anyone wishing to join us. Again this year we will suggest a
donation of $10 to have your name or the name of someone
you wish to honor written in the corner of a quilt.
It is our sincere hope that many of our Philoptochos sisters
will join us this year. We look forward to sharing this very
special project of love with everyone.

On November 8th, Christinaniki Philoxenia gathered at the parish of St. Spyridon, Palos Heights to enjoy fellowship. The

On September 9, 2012 we had our very first Yiayia and Papou
Luncheon. Honoring these very special people was a treat for
everyone! We served κοτα με πατατες reminiscent of the meal
we all remember eating during our Sunday afternoon visits to
Yiayia and Papou’s house.
On October 7, 2012, we celebrated Inclusion Awareness Sunday. This year’s topic was: Creating Access and Inclusion in
Worship. As always, we learned and reminded ourselves of the
importance of inclusion.
On November 8, 2012, we had our Holiday Bazaar which offered something for everyone. We served a variety of pasta
choices, shopped ‘til we dropped with over 30 vendors, and ate
pastries made by our own dedicated Philoptochos members at
our Sweet Shop. Who doesn’t enjoy loukoumades every once in
a while! The best part of the Bazaar was that proceeds from this
event benefited our next event which was Breakfast with Santa
for underprivileged children in the Lake County area.
On December 1, 2012 we invited underprivileged children to
join us for a delicious Breakfast with Santa. The children were
able to meet Santa and take pictures with him. We also presented the children with gifts. This is always a very heartwarming event for us.
We mailed snack-packs for finals week, to our parish college
students who are away from home. Snack packs included
snacks for nourishment as well as koulourakia, a student prayer
and lots of love. We mail these out before finals week so that
our college students know that we are thinking about them and
wishing them well.
With as busy as we stay, we are grateful that our membership
has increased. The more members, the more philanthropy we
can spread!

October 6 at the Concorde Banquets.

The ladies gathered together for a "Big Fat Greek" general dinner meeting. Members enjoyed a delicious dinner by My Big Fat
Greek food truck and discussed upcoming activities for the holiday season including their Grecian Kitchen Holiday Open House
at the St. Nicholas Family Life Center, Harvest Bake Sale, and
PJ's for a Cause pajama drive. There was also a special presentation on Fishing for Families in Need. The ladies are looking forward to a fun filled holiday season!

A Busy Fall for Philoptochos!
Fall is one of the busiest seasons for St. John’s Philoptochos.
Starting in September with a new year of philanthropic duties,
our ladies attended the annual Chicago Metropolitan Philoptochos Luncheon at Rosewood Banquets on September 22nd. Our
very own Netsa Antonakos was a chairwoman for the lovely
event that brought together all of the Philoptochos groups from
every church across the Chicago Diocese. This year, one of our
Executive Board members, Paula Burzawa was a speaker, and
discussed the importance of Metropolitan IAKOVOS’ Fanari
Camp, and how attending as a counselor inspired her to write
her novel, Seasons of Sun. Our very own long time member,
Stella Mash was the lucky winner of the grand prize raffle and
received $1,000. Ever the generous Philoptochos member,
Stella donated her prize money back to our very own St. John’s

you Stella! This wonderful luncheon set the pace for an exciting year of helping the poor and our coming together as Philoptochos sisters.
In November, St. John’s Philoptochos sponsors our annual
Thanksgiving Feed the Hungry, which takes place on Thanksgiving day to feed the less fortunate. Many volunteers come
together for this beautiful day of offering a warm meal to the
poor and providing them with new coats as well, as part of our
annual Philoptochos Coat Drive. Used but clean and in good
condition coats are collected through the Thanksgiving holiday
to distribute at our Feed the Hungry event on Thanksgiving
Day. To volunteer, please contact the church office.
Finally, we end the year with our Philoptochos Christmas celebration at Café La Cave on Sunday evening, December 2nd.

In our own parish, this year, we decided to have a membership
sign up incentive. Every woman that joined St. John’s Philoptochos for the 2012-2013 year received a ticket to win a brand
new Kindle! The winner was announced at our October general meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 16th.
On October 6th St. John held Inclusion Awareness Sunday, welcoming and encouraging all parishioners with disabilities to
come together to worship in love and friendship as part of our
community. Eleni Platos did a fabulous job heading up this
event! Ribbons were distributed to everyone, crafts were made
by the children and our St. John’s community came together to
embrace all Orthodox Christians with challenges. This is an
integral part of our purpose as Christians, as it is our calling
and our duty to ensure that no one is left out from the love and
support of our church. Thank you Eleni!
We also visited the Greek American nursing home, bringing
treats to the residents and spending time with our fellow Orthodox Christians. Also in October, as the month has been designated as Breast Cancer Awareness month, St. John’s Philoptochos hosted “Pop into Pink,” a co-sponsored event with the
Philoptochos Societies of The Ascension of Our Lord, and Sts.
Peter and Paul in order to celebrate the Power of Pink, and
raise funds for the American Cancer Society. This cocktail tea
took place in our very own gym, on October 18th with vendors,
refreshments, and most of all, fellowship to gather for this worthy cause. The event was a huge success and brought together
women and men from all three parishes. Pink was certainly the
color that night as the power of women pulling together filled
the room with girl-power!

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
During Oct and Nov, the National Philoptochos Society had a
campaign called the Chapter Giving Tree Challenge in which
they were asking all Philoptochos chapters nationwide to donate 1,000 dollars each to the Giving Tree Challenge. The fundraiser was to raise money for a new permanent home for the
National Philoptochos Society. When I first heard of the challenge, I thought it was for an important cause but did not think
we could raise the money beyond the funds we already raised
and committed towards missions. In Oct; I received an email
from Cathy Gofis from the Chicago Metropolis informing me
that someone has come forth to assist our small chapter with the
Giving Tree Challenge. Although I was amazed that someone
wanted to help us; I was still skeptical that we could raise any
significant amount of money. However I did put out a call to
our Society members asking for donations and as I learned
more about the woman who wanted to help us, Arlene Siavelis;
I shared her story. Arlene is the National Philoptochos Vice
President and is part of the Chicago Metropolis. She wanted to
help a small chapter within the Chicago Diocese with the challenge and was willing to write a check for any amount. She
chose our small chapter because of her name stake “Argyro”
and her patron Saints are SS Kosmas and Damianos. She has
never been to Holy Anargyroi nor does she know anyone personally in our parish which makes her a stranger to us and one
who wanted to help us. As some of our Society members heard
her inspiring story; the donations came in and within a day, we
raised 500 dollars! Arlene wrote her check for 500 to us and
then the next day, Nov. 1st, the Feast Day of SS Kosmas and
Damianos, one of our Society members, God bless her, was
moved to donate the remaining 500 dollars! Our Philoptochos
Chapter at Holy Anargyroi raised the whole amount in two
days! After this, Arlene, instead of giving the 500 check to us;
sent it to another Chicago Metropolis Chapter that could only
raise 500 themselves. In the end; Arlene inspired us to raise the
money ourselves and in addition to that; she helped another
Philoptochos Chapter be part of the challenge. It is a wonderful
story of how a few women, with God’s help, can make such a
big difference. The Glory is His!
For me; it was a spiritual learning experience because initially I
did not believe that we could meet the challenge and as the donations started to come in, the Gospel reading “with God all
things are possible” came to mind. . These very words from
Jesus Christ are mentioned in the Gospels of Matthew (19:26),
Mark (9:23 and 10:27) and Luke (18:27). These words are the
heart of hope for all Christians but are difficult ones to truly
believe. This challenge became a humbling experience as it
turned into a testament to the times that I am weak in my faith. I
can relate to the Apostle Peter who, at times, impulsively proclaimed his strong love for Jesus Christ and yet was constantly
shown the barometer of his faith.
The Apostle Peter sets the example of humility in his words to
Christ “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord!” Luke
5:8. With a contrite, thankful and repentant heart: I must also
remember that it is the Apostle Peter who later said “As each
one has received a gift; minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.” 1 Peter 4:10. The women
involved in this challenge had their own gift to give for God’s
glory.
“With God all things are possible.” Mark 10:27, the Gospel
reading for Dec. 21st, the Forefeast of the Nativity of our Lord
and Savior Jesus Christ.
Let us not underestimate what we can do with God’s help.

On Nov. 17th, Philoptochos members Maria Thomas and Soula
Pampori hosted a prosfora baking workshop. They did a fantastic job in guiding a group of parishioners in the Orthodox tradition of preparing prosforo. Father Mark presented a wonderfully detailed presentation of the sacred ritual the Priest performs in preparing the prosfora for Holy Communion. It was a
blessed event and we prepared 13 perfect loaves for the Church
and for God. The prosfora, the offering bread, represents Jesus
Christ who is the Bread of Life. It is brought to Liturgy by a
parishioner who carefully prepared it and given to the Priest
who places it on the Holy Altar. This act represents God accepting our gift. The prosfora is then transformed through the Holy
Spirit during Divine Liturgy and God gives it back to us as His
Precious Body through Holy Communion. In bringing the loaf
of bread to God, we are,
in effect, offering our life
to Him. The prosfora
offering is a gift of our
love to Him. He in return
gives Himself to us
through Holy Communion in His gift of love to
us.

The Assumption Philoptochos Society hosted their annual
membership tea on Saturday, November 10, at 11:30 a.m. in
Plato Hall. The ladies provided an elegant “trapezi” including
a wonderful variety of homemade salads, jellos, pastitsio, and
an assortment of deli meats and cheeses. Also, magnificent and
plentiful quantities of homemade Greek and Danish pastries
complimented the wonderful assortment of homemade cookies,
cakes, and brownies.
In addition to an afternoon of fellowship, dining and socializing, we were delighted to have John Bourgeois, Regional Director of Macy’s By Appointment enlighten us with a Dress for
Success PowerPoint presentation. He provided examples of
appropriate business attire; current wardrobe trends; and answered fashion questions from the audience. As Regional Director, Mr. Bourgeois is responsible for the Macy’s By Appointment personal shopping representatives for the states of
Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, and Missouri.
The afternoon culminated in a raffle in which eight gift bags,
each containing a Macy’s gift certificate were won. The proceeds of the raffle benefited the Wishing Well, an adult day
care facility for the disabled. Forty ladies were in attendance.

Our Philoptochos chapter participated in national programs
(Make a Difference Day with Loukoumi on October 27) and
sponsored events to benefit the local Columbia community:
Food for the Holidays (a special food drive to benefit the Food
Bank) and the Voluntary Action Center Christmas Program
(where we sponsored 4 needy families in Columbia with presents for children and money for their Christmas meal). Besides
that, this season we tried to minister more to our church family
taking the lead to organize church-wide educational-spiritualrecreational programs that would unite us and also enrich us
spiritually.
Using the guidelines prepared by the Center for Family Care of
the Archdiocese, we organized two very successful Family Fellowship Day events that attracted over 60 parishioners the first
one and 45 the second one. We held the family fellowship
events on Sunday, after the Divine Liturgy and we started with
a fellowship meal followed by activities for children and adults.
It is our prayer and hope that these kinds of activities will
strengthen our church family and will help us grow closer as a
parish while we are growing
closer to God.

The St. Demetrios Hammond Philoptochos has been quite busy
this fall. We started our year with our annual Style Show, A
Bella Notte! Over 300 guests enjoyed the fashions and fun created by our Style Show chairmen, Nancy Vlahos and Kristine
Stamos, and their committees. A portion of the proceeds from
our style show ($5,000) was given to the Behavioral & Learning Solutions, located in Northwest Indiana. The center provides individual and group therapy for children and young
adults with autistic spectrum disorders . In the picture attached
our chapter presented the check to Ms. Jill McNeill Director of
the Center at our meeting on January 8th.
In early October we raised awareness to Breast Cancer on Sunday, October 7th by presenting a pink carnation to all the ladies
of our church and followed with our Philoptochos team participating in a 5K Walk/Run to raise money for the Cancer Resource Foundation. Our St. Demetrios team raised and donated
over $850 to our local center.
In October, as our parish celebrated its Namesday, the Philoptochos and our parishioners welcomed his Grace Bishop Demetrios to our church and hosted a warm reception of desserts
and light refreshments for all that attended.
In November we kicked off the month with our Philoptochos
Sunday recognition by sponsoring breakfast for our parishioners and began our Membership Drive for 2013. Our goal is to
increase our membership for 2013 by 20%. We are off to a
great start!
In December our members enjoyed a Christmas party held at
Rodity’s in Greektown. Members traveled to Chicago for dinner followed by a tour of the Magnificent Mile and the Christmas Lights.
On Sunday December 16th, our members came together once
again to assemble and sell our beautifully decorated holiday
baskets filled with a variety of homemade cookies. These were
the perfect gift for teachers, co-workers or
friends. We started this fundraiser 3 years
ago and our parishioners and guests look
forward to purchasing these baskets every
year!

The members of the St. Nicholas Oak Lawn chapter were hard at
work this fall, preparing and putting on their biggest fundraiser
of the year, the Annual Arts, Crafts and Vendor Bazaar. This was
the chapter's 40th year in pulling off a successful event! But there
is no rest for the weary! They immediately went on to prepare for
the celebration of the feast day of St. Nicholas, where they, of
course, were the gracious hostesses of the parish, preparing the
artous for the services and all the delectable refreshments for

Birthday
Celebration
On the 14th of October the entire St. Spyridon community celebrated the 40th birthday of Fr. Tilemahos Alikakos. It was a
joyous celebration with a beautiful reception hosted by the ladies of Philoptochos and the Parish Council. The president of
the Parish Council and the president of Philoptochos spoke on
behalf of all the parishioners and thanked Father for his untiring
commitment to the St. Spyridon Church and thanked him for
touching everyone in the community with his love, guidance
and compassion. It was a special surprise for Father and a treat
for all of us when the Orpheus Dance Group appeared in their
costumes and wished Father, Happy Birthday.They performed
beautifully the many regional Greek dances. Fr. Tilemahos
could not resist and also joined his dancing friends. We didn't
know this, but years ago he was also a member of the Orpheus
Dance Group; and a very good one, from what we saw! With all
our love we wish Fr. Tilemahos, Presbytera Georgia and their
lovely children Xronia Polla, with good health and much happiness.

On Philoptochos Sunday the Ladies Philoptochos presented
their annual scholarship award of $1,000 dollars. The recipient
of the award is Mr. Angelo Angelos .Angelo impressed us, not
only with his excellent academic achievement but more impressive was his involvement and his dedication to his Church. He
is currently attending Harper College and is pursuing a degree
in Business Law. We congratulate and wish Angelo much success in the future.

Mission Statement
The Greek Orthodox Ladies Philoptochos Society, Inc. is the
duly Accredited women’s philanthropic society of the Greek
Orthodox Archdiocese of America. The mission of the Society

To Aid the poor, the destitute, the hungry, the aged, the sick,
