General Information
You will find a little bit of everything at the Tulare Sci-Fi Con. Vendors,
artists writers, filmmakers, actors, movies, panels, demonstrations,
giveaways, costume contest and even a film festival with awards.
Something for everyone.
The Tulare Sci-Fi con is also a fundraiser for the MAKE THE WORLD A
BETTER PLACE FOUNDATION, which is a charity that helps Social
Services Programs that benefit homeless children and their families.
During this convention, you can help this important charity by placing a
donation in a special donation box located at the Combat Radio booth.
CONVENTION POLICIES
We want our convention attendees to enjoy themselves but we do have
a few rules for the safety and comfort of everyone. Please abide by
them so that everyone can enjoy the Tulare Sci-Fi Con.
BADGES AND WRIST BANDS
Only convention staff, volunteers and exhibitors will be issued badges
and all attendees will be issued wrist bands. They need to be worn at
all times. At any given time you may be checked to make certain that
you are wearing a badge or wristband. Anyone found to not be wearing
a badge or wrist band will escort out.
CODE OF CONDUCT
Rude, offensive, harassing or threatening behavior will not be tolerated.
Drunkenness or lack of proper respect for the property of others will
also not be tolerated. All inappropriate behavior will result in the offending party losing the privilege of attending the Tulare Sci-Fi Con and will
be required to leave.
Any example inappropriate behavior should
be immediately reported to one of our professional security guards or to
members of our staff who may be identified by their badges.
MOVIES, PANELS, DEMONSTRATIONS
Please turn off all cell phones so not to disrupt the showing of movies
or anyone speaking on the stage. Also speaking loudly or other unacceptable behavior will not be tolerated.
Smoking is prohibited.
Seating for all programming is on a first come, first serve basis.

One of the TULARE SCI-FI CON’s most popular events is its Costume Contest. And we welcome all convention attendees to either participate or to
simply become part of the audience and enjoy the amazing costumes that
that will be on display.
This year the Costume Contest will be held at 6:00 PM on Saturday, March
7th in the Hilvers Building. Due to the popularity of this event please come
early. Seating is on a first come first serve basis. No exceptions. Once the
Hilvers Building is full no one else will be allowed inside. Fire safety laws
forbid over-crowding.
We encourage all costume attendee’s to participate. All genre’s are welcome, be it individual or
group entries. Genres can include designs recreated from movies, television, computer games,
comic books, anime or original designs.

The Costume Contest will be divided into the following categories:

JUDGES PANEL
Our panel of Costume Contest Judges come from all facets of entertainment. Comic
books, movies, radio and more. They include:
Ethan Dettenmaier - Producer and Host of the hugely popular radio program Combat
Radio.
Edward Luena - Acclaimed comic book artist of Crow of the Bear Clan.
Deidre Neal - Professional costumer for such movies as the Comic Book Kid and the
Knights of Justice.
Ed Savage - Comic book artist and designer of movie posters. Co-Creator of AAA
American Entertainment Comics.
RULES FOR THE AUDIENCE
WE ask the following of our audience so that all convention attendees may more easily
enjoy the Costume Contest.
No flash photography. There will ample opportunity for taking pictures after the costume
contest.
No inappropriate behavior such as catcalls or vulgar language.
Anyone using flash photography during the contest, or displaying any other example of
inappropriate behavior, will result in that person, or persons, being ushered from the
Hilvers Building by our professional security.

convention attendees.
All short films are between 3 minutes and 15 minutes long and the nominees are in the

In order for submitted films to be considered suitable for the TULARE SCFI-FI CON
FILM FESTIVAL they were required to reveal skill, imagination, creativity and the power
of visual storytelling with an emphasis upon stories that were fantastic in concept and/or
execution. The TULARE SCFI-FI CON FILM FESTIVAL also places value on the truths
revealed through the events, disappointments, joys and conflicts we all experience.
Although the TULARE SCFI-FI CON FILM FESTIVAL is open to diverse interpretations
of this human experience, one requirement is that all submitted films be family friendly.
All nominated films will be shown to attendees during the course of the convention.

Awards will be presented at 5:00 PM on Sunday, March 8th in the Hilvers Building.
