Taking charge from a vibrant leader Shri Pranav Adani, it was a challenging task for me to keep up the momentum by introducing newer programmes and building more facilities to support the activities. I am happy that AMA could continue its tradition of organizing a diversified range of purpose-driven programmes. This year, the emphasis was on skill development of professionals from worker level to senior Managers and also on promoting programmes relating to entrepreneurship. During the year, as many as 570 Management Development Programmes were organized involving a participation of more than 11471 professionals. The number of in-company programmes were 51. The year witnessed 19 open Seminars, 11 Diploma programs, 160 International Trade programmes, 194 open lectures, 104 Summer Workshops for students and two industrial visits. Among the major highlights of the year was setting up an Activity Centre with the contribution of our Past President Shri P.V.R.N. Iyer, for facilitating Doctoral Programme for the benefit of Members and non-members pursuing higher level academic endeavours. The inauguration of the Research Centre on 24th September 2015 by Shri Shivakumar, CEO, PepsiCo India and the beginning of regular activities were major steps forward in promoting quality Doctoral education in the State. The Centre began organizing Workshops and regular Forum meetings in this direction. I would like to express our gratitude to Dr. Paresh Kariya and other academic friends, namely, Prof. Rasananda Panda, Dr. C. Gopalakrishnan, and Dr. A.C. Brahmbhatt for facilitating this activity. We have been able to add three more PG Diploma Programmes in our continuing education programme, namely, Diploma in Corporate Communication, Diploma in Marketing & Sales and Diploma in Healthcare & Hospital Management. The high level of academic discipline pursued by AMA enabled us to maintain the collaboration as well as to secure the University’s confidence in launching three more Diploma Programmes. This has differentiated AMA from all other Management Associations in the country as a unique institution committed to professional development of our society through continuing education. The support of past President Shri Pranav Adani in developing a Pavilion near JB Auditorium has been a valuable contribution to AMA. The AHMEDABAD MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION ANNUAL REPORT 2015-2016 l 1 permanent facility of a Pavilion adds value to JB Auditorium and can be utilized for exhibitions, common dining, get-togethers, open programmes, Workshops, etc. The Pavilion is planned for inauguration in early September. Members of AMA and I express our deep gratitude to Shri Pranavbhai and Adani Group for this lasting contribution. In step with the Digital revolution, AMA has already digitalized all its records. At present 80% of the correspondence is conducted through e-mail. We will begin sending all announcements through e-mail once we complete collecting the e-mail records of all members. The on-line registration facility, introduced a year ago, is fully operational. AMA has also reached out to the world through a mobile application “AMA App” and through Twitter, Linkedin and Facebook. With expansion of Shilp Gravures Media Centre (Book Shop) the publication activity has been prolific. As many as eight books were reprinted and 19 new books were published. The three monthly journals being sent to Members have been receiving positive feedback. We also developed digital books, recorded lecture series in MP-3 format and edited and developed small booklets from lecture CDs. Overall, the year provided very useful activities and programmes to the community. It is our aim to be a responsive and proactive organization. This vision also gives shape to all our new projects under planning. We are developing a Common Facility Centre for SMEs in training and development. Also on the drawing board are: expansion of the skill development programmes, reaching out these programmes at unit level, setting up of counseling facility for start-up, etc. On behalf of the Governing Council and myself, I express my gratitude to all the members, participants of programmes, faculty members, members of AMA Committee, administration, media & press community and other associates for their continued support and co-operation towards the Association. I also owe my gratitude to the members of the Governing Council and the past Presidents for extending their support and guidance.
