Rev. Roy Cooper, IMB

bring the associational sermon.
A Cuban family kneels while praying to an icon of the virgin Mary inside a Roman Catholic church in Havana, Cuba’s capital. Catholicism is the main religion
in the island nation,. About 57 percent of the population claims to be Catholic,
but less than 10 percent attends mass, according to Operation World.

Messengers:
Each church is entitled to two messengers, plus one additional messenger for each fifty
members or fraction thereof with a maximum representation of fifteen messengers from
any one church. Directors of KBA missions ministries and chairpersons of committees
do not count toward the church’s messengers.
Pray for our Cuba Vision Team: Ron Underwood, (associational missionary), Chuck Everett (pastor,
Trinity) and Steve Lee (pastor, Mt. Olivet). They will visit Cuba October 2—10, 2015, to look at possibilities for Kershaw Baptist Association’s involvement in missions in that country.
October is Pastor
Appreciation Month
For ideas on how to honor your pastor, see the
September issue of The Cornerstone, or contact
the KBA Mission Center.
World Hunger Day
October 11
Tuesday, October 13, 12 Noon
When will you get personal about hunger? If
we take God's Word seriously, the malnourished and hungry are our problem. Those who
are afflicted were made in the image of God.
He cares about them, which means we are to
care about their welfare as well.

ride with us.
Since Lake Wateree Church is providing lunch, we will need a
head count. Please RSVP to the KBA, 803-432-3028, or

Mission Team Needed for Long Island
We need a painting crew to go to Long Island,
New York, October 26-30, to finish painting the
outside of Crossroads Church, where Jamie
Rogers is pastor. In case of rain, there are areas in
the sanctuary that also need painting. If you can
go, please contact the KBA, 803-432-3028 or
[email protected], immediately.
Christmas Inquiry . . . Would we like to have a presence in the Camden
(morning) and Lugoff (evening) Christmas parades this year? Would several (or many)
churches like to enter an evangelist type float? Several years ago we joined together and
had several entries in the Camden parade. If you are interested in pursuing this idea,
please contact the KBA Mission Center.

Construction of a new garage on the back property of the KBA will
begin soon. The garage will house our present block party trailer
and a second trailer that has been donated.

October 15
This is an important annual survey, and
your prompt attention is greatly
appreciated. The ACP is necessary for
churches to keep their non-profit status
under the umbrella of the SC Baptist
Convention. If you have any questions
regarding the ACP, do not hesitate to
contact Kathy Hall by phone 803 4323028 (office hours) or by email at
[email protected], or 803.420-1457.
We at the KBA have prayed and feel strongly
led by God to make our Home Repair Ministry
a top priority across the area. To do this, we
need you and your men’s ministry, Sunday
School class, or other church groups to get involved. Plans are to identify at least one home
a month to work on as our project. If we get
enough teams, you will only need to be available once a year.
You are needed to join with the other churches
of the KBA in this very important ministry. If
you, as an individual, are interested, we can
match you with another group.

Latest Home Repair Project:
The latest home repair project
is a joint effort of the Home
Repair Ministry and Disaster
Relief teams. They installed a
new bathroom and replaced
floors and walls in the bedroom
and bathroom. The team made
some much needed repairs and
updates to the homeowner’s
house to make it more wheelchair accessible.
As of the printing of this newsletter, they still had a few more
repairs to make.
Below, Jerry Gardner, Disaster
Relief co-director for the KBA,
presents a Bible to the homeowner.
