Kormarine
Since its first event in 1978, the
biannual KORMARINE event
(international Shipbuilding &
Marine Machinery / Material
Exhibition) is constantly
evolving to become the best
show to undetand global
shipbuilding and machinery
/ material market trends and
to share information among
companies throughout the
industry.
Our ancestors’ appreciation
for
the
Korean
rich
maritime
hitory
has
finally been recognized by
Korea becoming the No. 1
shipbuilding nation, a tilte
that is truly a great advantage
in drawing attention from
Shipbuilding and Related
Industries from all over
the world, KORMARINE is
dedicated to continuing this
success.
As one of the leading
shipbuilding shows in the
world, KORMAINE is now
capable of hosting 1,200
boothis in 22,000 SQM, and
over 40,000 visitors from
more than 70, countries,
Since 2001. The show has
been co-run with the SeaPort and Naval & Defense
show under the banner of
MARINE WEEK, and the
scale has been substantially
increased to cover the sea
port and marine defense
industry, leading to a total
event size of over 1,800
booths in 33,000 SQM.

Kormarine has since the first start in 1978 grown to become one
of the most vital shipping exhibitions in the world. Taking place
from 26 – 29 October in Busan with more than 1.200 exhibitors
this year’s exhibition was busier than ever. The Jeitek /Jets Korea
stand incorporating sections for many of their principals was
large, open and well located. Jets Korea reported more than 1000
visitors to the stand during the exhibition.
Jets Korea Moves To New Premises
Jets Korea and Jeitek has recently moved into large new premises
outside Busan. The new building includes large spaces and also
equipment for different type of manufacturing as well as various
test facilities and different ware house facilities. Large and well
laid out offices are also located in the same building. It is most
impressive.
We congratulate Jets Korea and Jeitek with their new premises.
Europort
Europort is the place
where the entire maritime
sector meets. From 8 until
11 November 2011 the
exhibition was held in Ahoy
Rotterdam. The previous
edition of Europort took
place in November 2011
and was visited by 31,000
professionals.
A
record
number of 1000 exhibitors
presented themselves.
Europort
takes
place
biennially in Ahoy Rotterdam.
The previous edition of
Europort, held in November
2009,
attracted
900
exhibitors and 31,463 visitors.
The exhibition – which was
branded Europort Maritime
in 2007 and 2005 – originates
from the merged exhibitions
Europort (in Amsterdam)
and Rotterdam Maritime
(in Rotterdam). Europort,
organised for the first time
in 1963, was held 31 times.
Rotterdam Maritime took
place for the first time in 1983
and counted 12 editions.

TBU had as usual a large and very nice stand in the main hall
of the exhibition. This year the exhibition took place Nov 8-11.
This biannually exhibition in Rotterdam attracted more than 30.000
visitors. Nicoverken who takes care of the yacht market also had
a nice and well visited stand.
Shock Tested Vacuum Units For Navy
Combattants
Jets Korea has recently supplied 50 MBA vacuum units for several
of Korean Navy’s new destroyers. These units are built to take
shock loads according to US Navy MIL-S-901D and passed the
certification with flying colors.

10 Years of Success for Retrofit
In 2001 we delivered our first
retrofit vacuum unit with the
65MBA Vacuumerator pump.
This unit replaced the Ejector
units on the ship Crystal
Harmony (now Asuka II). This
was in many ways our entry into
the retrofit segment.
Today, just 10 years later we
have a total of 468 retrofit
installations around the world.
The large majority of them
based on the Jets 65MBA
Vacuumarator pump — in total
292 pumps.
Probably the most impressive
part of our venture into the
retrofit marked is that we have
retrofitted 72 cruise ships. A
big part in this work has been
carried out by Total Marine
Solutions our representative
in Florida, USA . Another big
contributor on retrofit on Cruise
has been Stelio Bardi Srl. in
Italy.
Our biggest retrofit customer on
Cruise is Carnival with a total
of 73 orders for prefabricated
260MBA units.
We have also retrofitted a long
range of yachts, offshore and
navy vessels with Jets 15MB-D
and Jets 25MBA Vacuumarator
pumps.
Retrofit business is a very good
way of establishing good and
close relation with customers
and in particularly with crew
onboard. They get at better
life due to reduced customer
complaints (with Jets there
is always sufficient vacuum
capacity), high reliability, easy
maintenance and good service
and backup.
Our next goal is to retrofit larger
volumes of toilets. We can offer
easier maintenance, reduction
in cost and a far better service.
There are thousands of toilets
out there just waiting to be
replaced with Jets toilets.

Typical retrofit installation were the ship choose to keep the Ejector collecting tank as a transfer tank. All ejector taken out of service.
This from a follow up visit on “Mariner of the Seas”.
Marintec China
Marintec China once again
received proof of its status as
the industry’s most reputable
maritime event in Asia. The
15th Edition of Marintec China
has grown by 40% in terms
of floor area. Performing as
one of the most important
communication platforms in
the industry, Marintec China
has always achieved goals
far beyond both exhibitors
and
visitors’
expectations.
Marintec China has served
the industry for the past 30
years and has grown together
with the Chinese maritime
industry. Marintec China, at
the same time, witnessed the
development of the industry.
That is no doubt that Marintec
has performed perfectly as the
communication platform for
the global maritime industry
and it has also become a “mustattend” maritime exhibition in
the calendar.
With the rapid growth in Chinese shipbuilding the Marintech
exhibition has become one of the most important shipping
exhibitions in the world. This is also clearly reflected in the large
number of exhibitors and visitors.
This year’s exhibition was very successful. Jets participated at
the large Tecway stand together with a long range of other of Tec
way’s principals.
The Tecway team with principals
Having broken its record for
floor area, Marintec China
2009 also attracted 20% more
visitors than at the previous
event. Although the industry
has undergone a difficult time
in 2009, all the figures that
Marintec China 2009 accrued,
show the strength of the
industry. It was encouraging that
the overall growth of exhibiting
companies has been increased
by 28%. The exponential
growth, particularly, of Chinese
exhibiting companies showed
us the strong potency of the
Chinese maritime industry, with
the global economic downturn
in 2008 already taken into
account.

Jets at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil
Since 2006, Jets has held the
record for the world’s largest
vacuum sanitary system onshore,
installed at the Uninove University
in São Paulo, Brazil. With the
tremendous efforts of Brazilian
Jets representative Mr. Marco
Cerulli and his team at Tavola
Engenharia, we have now broken
the old record by a considerable
margin.
876 toilets, powered by six 130MBA
vacuum units, will be supplied to
a stadium renovation project in
Fortaleza on Brazil’s north east
coast. The first shipment just left
all. Some are larger and some are
smaller than the Castelão stadium.
“Even with very conservative
estimates we have determined
that by upgrading to vacuum
toilets, at least 500,000 liters
(about 125,000 gallons) of water
is saved at every match when the
stadium is at or near full capacity.
And the real figure is much higher
than 500,000 liters. The sewage
volume is of course also reduced
correspondingly. And since Brazil
suffers from water and sewage
infrastructure problems, it’s a winwin situation for everyone”, says
Hareid on December 19th, and the
last container is scheduled to cross
the Atlantic Ocean in February.
The renovation is already well
underway, and when finished,
the Castelão stadium will have
room for about 70,000 spectators
to ensure ample capacity for the
2014 World Cup.
In addition to this initial contract,
Tavola’s Mr. Cerulli and Jets are
also working on several other
stadium projects, all of which
are being renovated or built from
scratch around Brazil in time for the
World Cup. More than 10 stadiums
are to be used during the World
Cup, and we are hoping to secure
3 to 5 similar stadium contracts in
manager Bjarte Hauge of the Land
& Transport division at Jets.
He also says Jets is not completely
unfamiliar with toilets at stadiums:
“In the early 1990s we installed a
few vacuum toilets at a stadium
near our headquarters. They are
still operational today, but are of
course no match for the system
which is now being shipped to
Brazil. To use soccer terminology,
we are definitely in a different
league now with this record
breaking order.”
The World’s Largest Gas-Fuled Ferry
The new, gas-operated
ferry is designed by Multi
Maritime AS in Førde,
Western Norway and has
a total length of 129.9
m, a maximum width of
19.2 m and a capacity of
242 passenger cars or
22 heavy goods vehicles
in
combination
with
passenger cars. The ferry
holds 600 passengers
including staff. The ferry
is built according to Det
Norske Veritas class and
has deadweight of approx.
1,350 metric tonnes and
is approx. 7500 register
tonnes. The ship has four
azimuth thrusters that
are run by a gas-electric
system consisting of three
large LNG gas motors
and alternators. The gas
motors will give a service
speed of approx. 20 knots.
Fiskerstrand
Shipyard
in
Ålesund, Western Norway,
recently launched the world’s
largest gas-fuled ferry, MF
Boknafjord, built for Fjord 1, the
biggest ferry operator in Norway.
The new eco-friendly ferry will
serve the Arsvågen-Mortavika
route on the Boknafjord in
Rogaland County in addition
to making sure the HaljemSandviksvåg route in Hordaland
County now has a spare vessel.
Taking the enviromental aspect
into consideration, as well
as our previous deliveries to
Fjord1’s ferries and fast ferries,
Jets was the natural choice to
supply sanitary sytems for the
new ferry.
Leif Øverland, CEO of Fjord1,
says that the new ferry will
reduce NOX emissions of
approximately 90%
