DALLAS MARKET CENTER FACT SHEET
History: Dallas Market Center®, the world’s most complete wholesale merchandise resource, welcomes 75,000 buyers
and conducts more than 50 trade and special events annually. Founded in 1957 by real estate developer Trammell
Crow, the marketplace brings together specialty and department store buyers, wholesalers, manufacturers, product
designers and interior design professionals from all 50 states and 85 countries.
Buildings: Dallas Market Center is comprised of four buildings containing more than 5 million square feet. There are more
than 1,500 permanent showrooms and 500,000 square feet of temporary exhibit show space. An estimated 10,000
people work in showrooms at Dallas Market Center during major markets. Of this figure, DMC employs approximately
220 full-time and 125 seasonal/part-time associates.
TRADE MART: Opened in 1959 and last expanded in 2007, the building features more than 1.5 million square feet
and showcases gifts, decorative accessories, housewares, lighting, tabletop and stationery. Dallas Market Center
administrative offices are on the fifth floor.
WORLD TRADE CENTER: Dedicated in 1974, the building was expanded from 7 to 15 floors in 1979, reaching more than
3 million square feet. Hundreds of showrooms display gifts, decorative accessories, lighting, furniture, gourmet, rugs,
fabric, jewelry, toys and design furnishings. Related temporary exhibits are located on the 1st, 6th, 12th and 13th floors
during Markets. FashionCenterDallas®, on the upper floors, showcases apparel and accessories including womenswear,
childrenswear, menswear, swim, intimate apparel, bridal, prom, shoe and special occasion, footwear and westernwear.
INTERNATIONAL TRADE PLAZA (THE PLAZA): The Plaza is Dallas Market Center’s original building, the Home Furnishings
Mart (1957). Connected to the World Trade Center, the 440,000-square-foot, two-story building it offers the largest
marketplace for floral and holiday products. It hosts two shows annually called Holiday & Home Expo®.
MARKET HALL: This consumer exhibit hall, opened in 1960 and last expanded in 1963, contains 214,000 square feet.
Market Hall houses temporary exhibit space during Markets and hosts 50 consumer shows and exhibits annually,
attracting more than 275,000 patrons. Best known in Dallas as the site for popular boat, RV and car shows.

temporary booths. Apparel, accessories and shoe for women, men and children are showcased during five markets a year.
