CODING AND MANAGEMENT WORKSHOPS
DAY 1 ≠ 11:30AM – 5:00PM
MASTERING MANAGEMENT 2016:
THE SCIENCE OF BEING PAID EXPLAINED
A packed and lively half day learning experience that
covers critical management issues in four key areas:
Revenue Cycle, Personnel, Technology, and Marketing.
DAY 2 ≠ 8:00AM – 4:00PM
PLASTIC SURGERY POWER CODING:
INTEGRATED ICD-10 AND CPT EDUCATION
We will answer countless coding questions and support
your mastery of CPT and ICD-10-CM coding for plastic
surgery services. The course begins with a discussion on
what’s included in the global surgical package.
And the surgical procedures portion of the course will
address all aspects of plastic surgery including wound
care including debridement and reconstruction, skin
lesion removal, traumatic laceration repairs, skin/muscle
flaps and graft, breast procedures (lots and lots of
cases!), nasal surgery, and hand procedures.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
MASTERING MANAGEMENT 2016:
As a result of participating in this workshop,
attendees will be able to:

• Generate monthly revenue reports and review vital
marketing metrics.
• Implement systems that reduce accounts receivable and
improve collections.
• Go out of network the right way - and get paid correctly.
• Develop strategies for handling the most common financial
objections.
• Evaluate whether the practice’s email, texting, and social
media activity are compliant.
• Develop a team by optimizing staff skills
and work styles.
PLASTIC SURGERY POWER CODING:
As a result of participating in this workshop,
attendees will be able to:
• Outline the services that are included in the global surgical
package and what may be separately reported for plastic
surgery procedures.
• Correctly code plastic surgery procedures.
• Accurately apply modifiers to optimize payment for
commonly performed plastic surgery procedures,
particularly use of modifier 50 (bilateral procedure) and
modifier 59 (distinct procedural service).
• Differentiate when to apply varying neoplasm
ICD-10-CM codes, including malignant, benign, uncertain
and unspecified behavior.
• Identify situations in which it is appropriate to bill an E/M
code and a minor procedure (e.g., skin lesion removal,
burn dressing change, laceration repair) on the same day.

FIVE GOOD REASONS TO ATTEND A KZA
MANAGEMENT AND CODING WORKSHOP
1.
OUR EXPERT FACULTY DELIVERS
EXPERT ADVICE ABOUT THE SCIENCE
OF GETTING PAID.
You’ll learn from experienced consultants and seasoned
speakers who know how to make an otherwise dry topic
interesting. KZA has educated plastic surgeons about
coding and reimbursement since 1986. We’ve worked
with reconstructive and aesthetic plastic surgeons for
decades. Plus, our collaborator for these workshops
is practicing plastic surgeon Dr. Erin Kennedy, whose
years of coding and reimbursement leadership bring
added clinical relevance to your payment realities.
KZA WORKBOOKS ARE A USEFUL,
2. ONGOING
REFERENCE.
Creating content that has value beyond the immediate
course is a core value at KZA. We don’t just hand out
PowerPoint slides! You will leave with a fresh coding and
management resource, developed, refined, and improved
over the decades. Our materials include accurate,
evidence-driven guidance. We don’t yield to industry
driven coding advice. Why? Your safety and sanity are
too important to us. And government take backs are
expensive!
LOCATIONS AND VENUES.
3. GREAT
Your learning experience should be in a first class facility.
We’ve secured beautiful and exclusive private clubs
- plus one great hotel. You’ll find that these carefully
chosen locations offer comfort, dee-li-cious food, and
nearby attractions for post course enjoyment.
IDEAL CLASS SIZES MEAN GREATER
4. PARTICIPATION,
AND TIME FOR QUESTIONS.
Workshops are limited to 65 people. That means no giant
ballrooms where it is hard to see the screen and get all
your questions answered. (It also means you need to
enroll early to secure your seat.)
VALUABLE, POST WORKSHOP WEBINARS ARE
5. INCLUDED
IN YOUR REGISTRATION FEE.
You’ll have the opportunity to attend at least three
webinars on practice essentials such as like PQRS,
HIPAA, Avoiding Audits, and A/R Education for Everyone.
All will be available on demand, at your convenience - and
won’t cost you a dollar more.

REPORTS AND REVENUE CYCLE
MANAGEMENT
You may be an A+ documenter and coder,
but correct coding alone won’t get you
paid. Without tight processes and effective
protocols, accounts receivable can still be
sky high. Cash flow will be tight. And hours
in the OR won’t be reimbursed.
We’ll show you KZA’s recommended
workflow. You’ll learn how to implement
modern payment technology, efficiently
settle patient accounts, and make sure
revenue cycle systems are shipshape.
You’ll leave with:
• A dozen key reports that help
reconstructive and aesthetic practices
manage revenue cycle and systems
• A solid case for using modern payment
technology
• The truth about audit controls:
Are yours up to par?
• Details about going out of network:
Use this plan!
• How to hold your billing company
accountable: Out of site can’t be out
of mind
• Marketing metrics: You can’t manage
what you don’t measure!
3:00 - 3:20 PM
CRASH COURSE IN COMPLIANCE
ESSENTIALS
Everything plastic surgery practices need to
know about video consults, texting, email,
social media policies, and more.
1:45 - 2:45 PM
DEALING WITH FINANCIAL OBJECTIONS
Whether for reconstructive or aesthetic
patients, staff need a nuanced and
sophisticated approach to handle “It costs
too much” and “I want a discount.” We’ll
show you proven techniques that produce
results and fill the schedule with patients
who want to pay.
BONUS
3:20 - 4:45 PM
TAKING YOUR PRACTICE AND STAFF
TO THE NEXT LEVEL
Depending on your point of view, staff
can be either the biggest investment in
practice success or the highest percentage
of the overhead. Developing a high
functioning Dream Team is not easy - it
takes effort to train and nurture staff to
achieve their potential. In this segment
we’ll cover how to hire smarter, train and
develop an effective team, and establish
key performance indicators. You’ll leave
with an understanding of:
• Highest and best use of skills and work
style
• How to hire and onboard star quality staff
• Conducting performance reviews that are
productive, not painful
• Generate monthly revenue reports and review
vital marketing metrics.
• Implement systems that reduce accounts
receivable and improve collections.
• Go out of network the right way - and get paid
correctly.
• Develop strategies for handling the most
common financial objections.
• Evaluate whether the practice’s email, texting,
and social media activity are compliant.

• Develop a team by optimizing staff skills
and work styles.
