It was so fantastic to see you all enjoying such a wonderful breakfast and laughing and chatting with your children. I know you all have very busy lives so thank you again for taking the time to support our school. Thanks also to our amazing ECE teachers, Ms Wilde, Mrs Haley and Mrs Miller, teacher assistants, and parent helpers who were here at the crack of dawn getting ready. It’s great to see such a team effort. The students will remember this for a very long time. Thanks also to other staff that helped out – I hope you got to sample some of the wonderful food. In our Assemblies on Monday mornings we have introduced a focus area for the fortnight to fit in with our values teaching. If there is an area of concern in the school we then spend the next fortnight explicitly teaching and talking to the students about how to deal with such issues. We are also introducing prompt language to support a whole school approach. This week our topic has been Make it Better not Bigger. We are teaching students to keep their problems small and not to react in a way that will make it worse. It is great to hear all staff using this language when helping students. Just a reminder today that if you have received a Parent Survey in the mail this week please make sure it is completed online by next Friday 11th September. All information is strictly confidential and really helps us plan for the future and address areas that may be of concern to you. Sincerely, Della Wells MARIMBAS AND WACKY INSTRUMENTS WITH Jon Madin Jon Madin is a trained classroom music teacher with a background in a wide variety of music-making. His experience includes playing in folk/rock bands, multicultural bands, an orchestra and early music con-sorts. He also leads family music workshops and bush dances. He will be taking classes (grades 3-6) throughout the day with students learning a variety of songs on Marimbas and other instruments Jon has invented! There will be a performance at 2:00 pm in the school Hall. Parents are welcome to come along to the performance with a variety of instruments you have never seen or heard before!
