A Couple Housekeeping Notes…
Please do not leave cups of coffee or other beverages on the tables in the
Main Hallway – please empty and dispose of them properly. Also, please do
not place cups, cans, or unsealed bottles containing liquids in the trash cans.
These items leak and stain the carpets when their trash bags are removed for
disposal. Please empty all liquids from containers before they are discarded.

Love Needed Alert…
Ann and Larry Inks are feeling a little lonely these days and would love to
have visitors come by and spend time with them. A nice home-cooked
meal for Ann would probably be a blessing as well, especially when Larry
returns home. Please consider stopping by for a visit to let them know that
they are loved and are still in our thoughts and prayers (please call Ann first
to let her know you are coming)
UPDATE: Larry is currently in Edwin Shaw and he and Ann could
really use prayer, encouragement, and support during this stressful time.

A Special Message from
the Elders of Middlebury Chapel
Hello, Everyone!!
This is the last day of January and we rejoice because we have entered into a new year where we
are able to continue to give praise, honor, and glory to our Gracious and Awesome Lord!!
The focus of this year's corporate prayer fast for Middlebury Chapel has arisen out of our
recognition of the dire and desperate need of salvation for our loved ones and friends who are
lost. We have chosen to fast one (1) hour each day for the entire month of January and the focus
of this fast is for us to come together as one body in unity and prayer for our family members
and friends who are not walking with Him.
We would like to ask our Middlebury family to fast each day for 1 hour during the 12 noon to
1:00 p.m. time slot. This needs to be a completely sacrificial fast in the fact that nothing else is to
be done by you during this time period except prayer and intercession for the individual or
individuals that the Lord has placed on your heart. It is our desire for the body of Middlebury to
be united in prayer and intercession at the same time during the 12 noon to 1 p.m. time period,
but we do understand that conditions may arise that prevent your ability to intercede at this
specific time each day. If this is the case for you, please do not let this prevent your participation
in this important exercise in spiritual warfare. Although we are striving for a "unified prayer
front", if the designated time frame will not work for you, then it becomes more important that
you pray as opposed to when you pray. If this is your situation, please pick a suitable one (1)
hour period for sacrificial prayer and intercession each day.
During this time of focused prayer, please pray for anyone that the Holy Spirit places on your
heart with an emphasis on those who are unsaved, backslidden, in a state of rebellion, enslaved
and bound by addictions, those who are broken, and those who are simply lost. We are asking
for a 1-hour period each day for impassioned petitions to our Savior on behalf of our loved ones,
friends, and acquaintances who are perishing. As the Holy Spirit speaks to your heart while you
are in prayer, please feel free to change the person or persons for whom you are interceding as
you felt led and remember to continually ask Him how to achieve our ultimate objective, which is
to be motivated solely by the Love of God and to personally invite those who do not know Jesus

to come to an intimate knowledge of Him and relationship with Him and to bring home those
who have strayed or wandered away from Him.
Lastly, we have provided a prayer outline on the last page of this bulletin and on our website and
physical copies will be available on the information table in the main hallway. These handouts
are intended to help guide and encourage you as you seek Him and intercede for those who have
been placed on your heart.

HELP NEEDED!!
Jim Petticord needs your help during Wednesday Night Kids’ Club.
A person is needed to welcome the Kids’ Club members, oversee the signin sheet, and issue nametags and treats to the children. Other people are
needed to supervise the youngsters during the actual class time.
If 4 or 5 people would volunteer to help supervise once a month, that
would really take the pressure off Jim and allow him to do what he does
best – teach and minister to the little ones of our neighborhood.
If you are willing to help, please contact Jim P. ASAP.

Cash Donations
Needed…
With the expansion of our outreach ministries, pickups of donations and
purchases from various agencies have increased beyond the capability of Candy’s
minivan and it has become necessary for her to rent a van every Monday and
Tuesday for these pickups. In an unexpected blessing, because we are now
bringing a larger vehicle to the Akron Canton Foodbank pickups, we are able to
receive donations of pallets of free items that are not only useful to the outreach
ministries but also to the church. Candy is asking for donations to help defray the
cost of these weekly vehicle rentals so that the rental fees do not come from the
Food Pantry food purchase funds. Please bear in mind that
these rentals will continue for the foreseeable future and
any donations towards this cause would be extremely
helpful and sincerely appreciated. For ease of giving, there
is a line on our website donations page entitled
“Transportation” which can be used for gifts to this ministry. Thank you so much!!
More Help Needed…
The Children’s Church Sunday School teachers are in need of help,
especially on the 2nd and 3rd Sundays. Currently, there are only enough
teachers to cover Sunday morning classes and there are no substitutes,
which means these individuals are not able to come upstairs to hear the
message. Would you please consider helping them by ministering to our
little ones one Sunday a month?? If you are willing to help,

Middlebury is pleased to announce that we are partnering with Akron Pregnancy Services to
participate in their “Sanctity of Life” fundraising campaign affectionately called The Baby Bottle
Boomerang. The concept behind the Baby Bottle Boomerang is simple – Baby bottles are
distributed to members of our congregation and we take them to our workplaces, schools, gyms,
anywhere that we are able to share the message of how each and every life is special and
valuable to our Savior. We can also share how our loose change helps Akron Pregnancy Services
provide desperately needed intervention and education to women who find themselves in crisis
pregnancies and who may be thinking that aborting their precious little one is their only option.
The boomerang aspect is that the bottles are sent out empty and they are returned to APS filled
with change, paper currency, and checks to help them further their mission of
“Championing God’s Design for Life.” Participation is as easy as 1-2-3:
1. Take a baby bottle home or to work or to your gym or wherever you feel led.
2. Fill it with loose change and other donations.
3. Please return it full of change and hope to Candy Petticord
on or before February 14th.
A few excited donors have already returned their bottles chock full of coins, bills, love,
and hope and have requested another. Please don’t miss this opportunity to help the littlest
ones among us and their moms and remember that the baby bottles can be filled with donations
from your employer, your friends, your neighbors, your children’s activity groups,
and even from that change container sitting on the dresser!! Our fundraiser is continuing until
February 14th and what better way to celebrate a holiday centered around love than by showing
compassion financially to help protect the sanctity of life??

Kim Hone-McMahan: Don’t give panhandlers
money; consider a care package instead

It’s finally feeling like winter, which might have some of you feeling bad for the
panhandlers that dot area intersections.
To find out what they need, I met with some officials at the Haven of Rest, a homeless
shelter in the heart of Akron. The message: It’s OK to give them something if you feel so
led, but avoid cash.
“Money is an incomplete solution because we don’t know where it’s going,” said Jim Cole,
director of the Haven of Rest’s men’s division. “The wisest thing is to connect them with
people who can walk with them to get the help they need.”
Of course, there are people on the corner for whom panhandling is their livelihood. They
may not even be homeless. But for those who are, the reasons are broad.
“For some, it’s addiction, persistent mental health issues or a combination of the two. For
others, it may be life circumstances such as divorce,” Cole added.
Those who live in Northeast Ohio are a generous bunch. So, when we see someone in
need, it’s in our character to want to help. And while reaching into the console of our car
and grabbing a few bucks is an easy way to assist someone, it’s not a good option.
Frankly, money is all that some panhandlers want. But I’m suggesting care packages to
carry in the car. In the bags, or plastic containers that can be reused by the recipient,
include things like:
• Gloves
• Tissues
• Stocking cap
• Socks
• Toothbrush and paste
• Bottled water
• Shampoo
• Granola bars
• Hand cream
• Gift cards to a local fast food restaurant
• Deodorant

someone from getting frostbite. And think of
the conversation you can have with your
children or grandchildren about homelessness.

zero” alert and the Mission, at 175 E.
Market St., Akron, is open around the clock
to provide people with a warm,
welcoming place to escape the cold.
Guests get a hot cup of coffee and a place
to stay out of the weather. You can sign up
for a meal and shelter for the night.

COVENANT PRAYER PETITION
Father, we thank you for the high calling of God in Christ Jesus and the
greater authority of The Word of God given to Us as 5- fold ministry
intercessors for your glory. We thank you for the grace of your Holy Spirit;
to stand upon our watches and those whom you have called to see what you
would speak and to sound the alarm of the Kingdom; that your people may
be saved.
Hab 2:1: “I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the
tower, and will watch to see what he will say unto me, and
what I shall answer when I am reproved.”
It is our privilege to serve according to all your will and desire and we ask
now, for the greater liberty of Jesus Christ, in carrying out the assignments
that you have given to Us. Thank you for the burden of heart and soul; to
cry out in the heavens, that yokes will be broken and strongholds of the devil
destroyed by the power of Christ working in Us.
Mt 16:19: “And I will give unto thee the keys of the
kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on
earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt
loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
Father, we cry out for the true heart and mind of Christ in this hour and a
heart which beats for souls: a heart that receives every opportunity,
according to the leading of your Holy Spirit; to reveal Jesus Christ to family,
friends, neighbors, acquaintances, and the like. Let Us be the example of the
real, genuine and sincere love of Christ in every place where we come. Let

those in the sphere of our influence; see in Us the living evidence of our Lord
and Savior by open hearts of grace and compassion for others. Let Us be the
living expression of Him in all that we do: that He may be glorified in our
obedience and sincerity of faith. Father, your Word says; that it is Christ in
Us, the hope of glory. Therefore, we ask that you show Us how to make Him
visible, in all that we do for the glory of His will and His name revealed for
all to see. We decree that as we lift Christ up; He will draw all men to
Himself.
John 12:32: “And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will
draw all men unto me.”
Give to Us the burden and faithfulness of spirit, to become a very real and
consistent witness for His glory. Father give to Us, greater wisdom and
insight in the knowledge of His will and establish Us in patience and
understanding: that we may see people rightly: with the eyes of the spirit
and not with the fleshly hearts and minds of men. Help Us to see them, the
way that you see them: in the eternal perspective of God. Let your Word
become the motivation and desire in Us, for all that we do; that you may
respond to your Word in our hearts and the revelation that you have given
Us.
Ps 119:105: “Thy Word, O’ Lord, is a lamp unto our feet and
a light unto our pathway.”
Father we thank you for the many, whose lives will be changed now, as we
yield our supply of the spirit, to the intercession and to the witness of Christ
before men. Please be honored and glorified in all that you have given Us to
do. Let you name be exalted and praised continually through the obedience
of your servants. We give thanks unto you Holy Father; for your
unspeakable gift!
