Father Brown returns for a
third season on WITF to solve more
mysteries in the sleepy Cotswold village

Felicia Montague and her chauffeur Sid
Carter. You can watch Father Brown
solve mysteries Thursdays at 9:00pm

What is an everyday life? Some may
define it as having the ability to choose
where you want to live, what you want to do
or who you want to love. What if someone
made these decisions for you? For many
decades that was the case for people
with intellectual disability. I Go Home
examines the struggles and triumphs for
people with intellectual disability from the
early 19th century to the present day. Are
people with intellectual disabilities living
everyday lives today? We’ll answer that
question Thursday, April 21 at 8:00pm.
It will also repeat Sunday, April 24
at 7:00pm.
HealthSmart begins its 11th season
on WITF Thursday, April 28 at 8:00pm.
with a look at kid’s health. What does it
take to raise a healthy child today? Good
rest, nutrition and exercise are a few
obvious needs. But, with school, homework
and extracurricular activities it can be hard
to find time for good nutrition and rest.
We wrap up April with a reprise of
National Parks, the six-part documentary series directed by Ken Burns. This is
the story of an idea as uniquely American
as the Declaration of Independence and
just as radical: that the most special places
in the nation should be preserved, not
for royalty or the rich, but for everyone.
National Parks airs consecutive nights
beginning Monday April 25 at 9:00pm and
continuing through April 30. WITF will
highlight Pennsylvanian’s instrumental
in the conservation effort Sunday April 24
with documentaries on Ralph Abele,
Gifford Pinchot, Mira Lloyd Dock,
and Maurice Goddard. WITF also
reprises Uncommon Wealth which
showcases the Commonwealths State Park
System. WITF’s complementary programs
to the National Parks series will air
Sunday, April 24 beginning at 2:00pm. ■

FM | HIGHLIGHTS
WITF 89.5 & 93.3 / online at witf.org
The Code Switch team is made up of seven journalists from NPR with a focus on covering
race, ethnicity, and culture. Their reports periodically broadcast on Morning Edition,
All Things Considered, and Weekend Edition on WITF 89.5 & 93.3.
You can also view in-depth reports from the team at NPR.ORG/CODESWITCH.
When Barack Obama won the presidency in 2008, there was a lot of talk about "The Obama Effect": how the nation's first black
president signaled a new era of racial harmony and understanding. That didn't happen. But what did? In this final year of the Obama
era, NPR's Code Switch takes on "The Obama Effect"– what it is, where we see it, and whether it endures after this presidency
ends. The series began earlier this year in February and continues through the year into the next presidential inauguration.
Additional areas of focus includes where Latino Americans see themselves -- politically and culturally – after eight years of the
Obama administration; how Obama's public image has challenged conventional wisdom about what it means to be a black man
in America; how the way White Americans talk about and experience race is evolving, and more. The series aims to focus on the
cultural discussions that aren't happening in traditional media, and to create content that focuses on starting conversations rather
than offering conclusions. Beyond listening, you can follow the Code Switch team on Tumblr: nprcodeswitch.tumblr.com, Twitter:
twitter.com/nprcodeswitch and Facebook: www.facebook.com/NPRCodeSwitch4 ■
