How it Works - We will give you your own webpage through FirstGiving that will allow you to
tell your story and post pictures. You can then begin crowdfunding to raise the $1,000 needed to
become an “Edger.” The event is being prepared for us by Over the
Edge http://overtheedgeusa.com/ and we will be one of 140 OTE events around the country and
in Canada this year.
Who can participate? Almost anyone. The weight requirement is between 100 and 300 pounds.
Edgers from 14 to 18 must have permission from a parent or a guardian. Over The Edge also
specializes in working with Edgers who have a disability or other special needs. If YOU want to
go Over The Edge, we want YOU!
Registration is $100, (which counts toward the $1,000 event fee). To register for this event, participants must pay the initial $100 registration fee. If the total
participant fee of $1000 is not raised by Sept. 10, the participant will be contacted by the United Way and given the option to make up the difference through a
credit card payment. If you say "yes", you will be given two additional weeks to seek additional donations before the charge is applied to your card. Your credit
card WILL NOT be automatically chargedan additional fee if you do not reach $1,000, unless authorized by you through the United Way. ***Fundraisers that do
not meet the $1,000 goal and choose not to be charged the difference will not be eligible to go over the edge and all funds raised will go to the United Way.

A Message From The Executive Director
Dear Members,
Once again, RiverFest was a day full of canoeing and kayaking fun! The weather was perfect. There were 98 canoes and kayaks with
106 paddlers enjoying their time on the Black River. Joe Zehr, Lowville, was the winner of the Black River Watershed Trivia! Thank you
to all of the businesses that donated items to the gift basket. Thank you to Lewis County Soil and Water for putting together the trivia
questions, having Ronnie Raindrop visiting with the participants, for placing the floaties on the river and for being the sweep for the event.
We are delighted to announce at the Lewis County Fair this year, $689 was raised for the Lowville Food Pantry from tips given when riding on the trolleys. This is $89
more than we raised in 2015!
Mark your calendar for the Chamber's Annual Meeting on September 15th. This is the evening when we honor our members that have anniversaries from 5 years to 60
years! The meeting will be held here at the chamber office 5:30pm - 7pm. I will also present a year in review and have financials prepared for you.
The Fall Foliage Tour is going to be a full day of wonderful stops! There will be Harvest of the Arts, Family Farm Day, Denmark Gardens Apple Orchard and Brookside's
Apple Fest, plus many businesses that will be offering specials, etc. Hopefully we will have foliage on October 1st. Many leaves are falling already from the drought! The
tour booklets will be available at the Cream Cheese Festival. Price $1.00.
Nathan Munger our Summer Intern has returned to college. He was a great asset to us this summer. Nathan worked hard and was extremely conscientious of any project
he was presented. Always professional and polite. We wish him the very best in his third year of college at RIT. Besides all of that, he put up with Emily and I asking for
his assistance daily!
See you at the Annual Meeting!
Anne
A Message From The Chairperson
August is over which means that Labor Day will soon be upon us and so will the first day of school. This means the Annual Cream Cheese
Festival is almost here and so is the Fall Foliage Tour. This year’s Cream Cheese Festival will be held on September 17th and the fall tour will
be on October 1st.
I want to personally thank everyone who volunteered to work at this year’s New York State Fair for the Chamber. The fair is a wonderful way
for us to show everyone what we have to offer in Lewis County. I love showing everyone what wonderful recreation areas we have and sharing all the technology the
chamber has to offer to all of its visitors.
This month’s Business after Hours is our annual meeting so I do hope you plan on attending this event. The Chamber will be recognizing many of our chamber members
at this year’s meeting for their continued support to the chamber.
A side note, I want you to put on your thinking caps and think about someone worthy of the title Business Person of the Year. If you have someone in mind keep your
eyes on the chambers web page for more information on how you can nominate that special community member.
I hope everyone has had a wonderful summer and I hope you are as excited about the upcoming fall season as I am. I look forward to seeing everyone at this month’s
Business after Hours.
Tina
