MONTHLY NEWSLETTER - JULY 2016
Congratulations
Lewis County General Hospital Makes
Safety and Access Changes To
Enhance Security
Effective July 20, 2016, LCGH's loading dock/
personnel door will be locked to prevent
unauthorized entry and provide enhanced safety for
all patients, residents, visitors, and staff.
"There are no changes to the capability to exit the
building from this location," stated Thomas
Ferguson, LCGH Director of Facilities Management.
According to Mr. Ferguson, this change is in
response to recent physical security vulnerability
assessment that identified unrestricted building
access from the loading dock area as a potential
security deficiency. The overhead door was
previously secured to allow operation by only
authorized employees.
Congratulations to Lacey Isom, Dina Hierholzer
(River Hospital), Melissa Parow, Karen Humphrey
(Carthage Area Hospital), Vonnie Brouty, Sheri
Underwood, Karen Farley, Erica Perry, Jessica
Kimbrell, and Andrea Moser (Lewis County
General Hospital). The group recently passed and
received their Critical Care Course led by Richard
Simpson, RN, Nurse Educator.
In preparation for this change, an exterior phone
has been installed, primarily for use by vendors,
to communicate their arrival and gain supervised
access. In addition, an electronic card scanner has
been installed in the loading dock area to provide
entry via the personnel door for authorized
employees with appropriate identification badges.
The Emergency Department entrance remains the
primary northern building access point for all visitors
and personnel to our facility and is available 24/7.
"There are no changes planned for our other
building entry/exit points at this time," Ferguson
stated. “With increasing security incidents across
the nation, it's a balance between having patients
and visitors feel welcome and being proactive to
keep patients, residents, visitors, and staff as
secure as possible."
“Lewis County General Hospital & Residential
Health Care Facility takes the safety of patients,
residents, visitors, and staff seriously,” said
Ferguson. “These changes increase the safety
throughout the facility. We ask the public’s
understanding and cooperation during
implementation of these security changes.”
Congratulations to Bridget Pellam, Parish
Baillargeon, and Sarah Keefer that recently
graduated from their LPN program. Parish was
also recognized for his leadership abilities by the
instructors.

Lewis County Dermatology Offering New Services
To Benefit Patients
Lewis County Dermatology is pleased to announce that the practice is now offering
Microdermabrasion and Chemical Peels.
Microdermabrasion is one of the easiest and most effective anti-aging treatments you
can get. Its benefits are many: Microderm softens fine lines and wrinkles, helps to
smooth coarsely textured skin, decreases the appearance of scarring, decreases the
appearance of pore size, and reduces superficial hyper-pigmentation, also known as
age spots.
Chemical Peels are one of the least invasive ways to improve the appearance of your
skin. With chemical peels you can improve: acne and acne scarring, fine lines and
wrinkles, age spots, freckles, scars and sun damaged skin. Microdermabrasion can be
used in conjunction with Chemical Peels to increase their effectiveness.
Britany Sage, CNA,
Licensed Esthetician
Britany Sage, CNA, will be providing the services. Britany joined LCGH in 2011 and joined the Dermatology
practice in 2014 and obtained her Esthetician's License in December 2015. Britany works with Dermatology
Physician Assistants Amy Werchinski, MPAS, RPA-C and Erin Bryant, RPA-C.
“Once I started in dermatology, I realized how important and interesting skin care was. There are so many
different products and techniques to improve our skin," Ms. Sage said. "When people think of esthetics,
they often think it is limited to facials and waxing, but many treatments go beyond the surface, like
microdermabrasion or chemical peels. These treatments are used to treat many things such as brown spots,
sun damage, and scarring," she said.
These new services are not covered by insurance. Payment is required at the time of service. In addition to
these new services, Lewis County Dermatology offers a full range of services/treatments for: acne, psoriasis,
allergic reactions, hives, actinic keratosis, wart removal, eczema, rosacea, hair loss, common skin infections,
skin cancer screenings, mole removal, and biopsies of suspicious lesions.
For more information or to make an appointment, call Lewis County Dermatology at 315-376-5861.
