MOVING FORWARD
This newsletter includes information
about Fall and winter programs and
events offered from September
through December 2015.
Information about activities from January
through April will be printed in another newsletter in December.
The solar panel project is already taking a huge
chunk out of CARD’s solar footprint. At the time
of print, the lifetime energy generated by the panels was at 114 megawatt hours.
That energy is enough to offset 10,000 gallons of
gas or charge 4,730 electric cars. It is enough to
power to light up the Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center for 3,379 nights.
Aside from the environmental savings, the solar
panels in the parking lot are providing some
much needed shade to a few of those lucky guests
to Splash City Waterpark.

Are your pre-teens ready for a Halloween celebration? Have them slide into their best Halloween
costume and drop them off at the farm for a
spooktactular night. From roasting hot dogs and
marshmallows to hiking a haunted trail and sharing ghost stories around the camp fire, your
ghouls and goblins will be in for a treat. They can
even carve pumpkins while enjoying the festivities. Space is limited so register early.

Looking to start a new family tradition? Join us
for our annual Breakfast with Santa at Ravanelli’s

picture with the man in red plus some extra goodies for joining us. This event is open for the entire
family, so bring as many generations as you want.
Pre-registration is required and space is limited,
so join in on the fun and sign up today.
Ways To Save . . . Early Bird Registration offers all participants who register at least two weeks
before the start of a class a discounted rate for various programs. Sibling Discounts offers a
percentage off the total enrollment for multiple siblings in any of the six week programs.
Not So Sure . . . Not sure if you or your child will love one of our six week programs? Let them
try one class out for free. Just call or email to “pre-register” so we can let the instructor know.

Join us on the farm for all things Fall.
From activities and entertainment to food
and hayrides, there will be plenty to keep
those of all ages busy. This is a rain or
shine event. Be sure to wear comfortable
shoes so you can enjoy some of our scenic
trails.

Families can hike at their own level,
then join in for family games. If the
weather is bad, activities will be held
in the Bank Barn. Attend three sessions and the fourth session is free.

Put on your dancing boots and head out to
the farm to dance the night away. Join us
for live music, yummy snacks and cold
drinks. There will even be a “Best Dressed”
contest, so wear your best old timey
threads. Don’t know how to dance? Don’t
worry, we can teach you! There will be a
complimentary dance lesson from 7P to 8P.

Help us convert our exotic, invasive
jungle into a native prairie and
woodland area. We will identify and
remove unwanted invasive species
and plant native seeds. No experience required and children are welcome. Bring gloves and a water

Get into the holiday spirit and visit the farm
while it is decorated for the season. Visitors
will sip hot drinks and nibble on holiday
sweets. Be sure to visit Santa in the Bank
Barn and the animals roaming the ground.
Don’t’ forget to take time to make homemade decorations and join in for a holiday
sing-a-long. As always, be sure to dress
appropriately and bring a camera.

Work Days will keep you busy with
plenty of farm chores to do. Volunteers are what keep the farm moving, animals fed and our buildings

Yoga has a combined focus on
mindfulness, breathing and
physical movements and has
health benefits with regular
participation. The breathing
aspect of yoga alone cane benefit the heart rate and blood

this holiday time out, so you can have some free time to do
those things that can be difficult to do with a 3-6 year old . . .
on a Saturday. Register early so you can save a little time,
money and sanity.

Dorris Intermediate
Have what it takes to join a league or just want to keep active
while feeding your competitive urges? Gather some friends
and see how well you play compared to others. The winning
team will receive T-shirts and 20% off the spring registration
fee. The team captain must register and pay the $150 fee before September 11 for teams to be eligible. The team roster
and waivers are due at the first game on September 17.

Karate II w/ Weapons
Ages 14+
This program helps bring out the artist in everyone. It focuses
on cartoons and illustrations. All students must bring their
own pencils and sketch pad, along with some creativity. This
is the perfect opportunity to meet and learn with fellow artists.
Ages 10+
This class is to supplement those students currently in Karate
II and those students must have the instructor’s permission.
Traditional Karate weapons such as the bo, nunchuks, sai, kama, tonfa and oar will be used.

Intro To Dance
Modern Dance
Ages 3-5
This class focuses on the fundamentals of tap and ballet. Students will learn balance and timing while increasing core
strength and building confidence. Participants must have tap
and ballet shoes.
Ages 6-9
In this upbeat twist on typical ballet, participants will learn a
mix of dance styles including jazz and hip-hop. This class is
perfect for beginners who are looking to get a taste of different
dance styles. Participants must have jazz or tennis shoes.

Movin’ & Groovin’
Ages 6-9
Come have fun with us while learning the traditional style of
Shorin-ryu! Students will build self-confidence and respect
while increasing overall physical fitness. All students will
learn Japanese martial arts terms and practice dojo etiquette.
Ages 12mo.-36mo.
With the help of their parents, kids will get to work on their
gross motor skills while preparing for beginning tumbling
moves. Get ready to have some fun with your tot while encouraging them to start movin’ and groovin.’

Ages 10+
Students will continue to build self-confidence and respect
while maintaining physical fitness. This course is for returning or experienced students 6 and up and beginners 10 years
old and up. Adults are welcome.
Ages 4-8
Children are introduced to basic tumbling movements and
basic balance beam skills. Students gain strength, flexibility
and self-confidence while enjoying fun-filled activities. Children must be able to participate without parental help.
