Meet a Bowler – Dan Allard
At thirty-five years old,
Dan Allard is our first Pro
Series event champion.
Dan lives in Methuen,
MA, and works for
Sullivan and McLaughlin
Telecommunications out
of Boston. His wife
Heidi is a third grade
teacher for Lawrence
Public Schools, and their
son Jack is four years old.
Dan has been in the
Friday Pro League for
over ten years, and this
past season helped Lucky
Strike win the Pro League
playoffs. He has made
three television
appearances on WNDS’s

Meet a Bowler – Al Gangi
As the owner of Cape
Ann Lanes in Gloucester,
MA, and the host of the
first Pro Series Event, Al
Gangi has been a major
supporter and
contributor to candlepin
bowling. He is currently
the President of the
Massachusetts Bowling
Association, and his
family has been in the
bowling business in
Woburn, MA since 1940.
In 1973 Al was the
Class A Mixed Doubles
Champion. In 1982, he
was the Massachusetts
State Open Singles
Champion with a score
of 1369. He made two
appearances on the
Channel five kid’s show,
one appearance on
Channel twenty-seven,
and once on the Channel
five scratch doubles.
His high single is 185,
high triple is 445, high
five is 699, and high ten
is 1369.
Meet a Bowler – Richie Myrick
Richie Myrick
accomplished a lot as a
youth in candlepin
bowling, and at the age
of 24, he has carried that
success into his
professional career.
When he was only
fourteen years old, Richie
recorded his first 400
series. He was the
Massachusetts Youth
State Champion with a
score of 1754 for 13
strings (an impressive 134
average). He won the
ICBA Youth Candlepin
Championship in 2002
and again in 2003.
As an adult, Rich has
won six Western New
England Pro Tour Events,
including back-to-back
wins in 2008. He’s been
on the Candlepin
Challenge seven times,
and including challengers
matches he has a record
of 6-4. He made his
debut on the show at age
eighteen, one of the
youngest bowlers to do
so. His high single is 199,
high triple is 469, high
five is 730, and high ten
is 1340.
Steve Renaud Jr. Makes Professional Debut
In his first tournament as an adult, Steve Renaud Jr. made a big splash in the
professional pool of candlepin bowlers. He qualified with a score of 621, which
tied three other bowlers for the last four spots in the knockout round. After his
first match they were calling him the “Giant Killer”, as he defeated one of the
game’s best in Jeff Surette. The match was tied at 138 after ten boxes, and in a
two box roll-off Steve beat Jeff 25-17. Steve then moved on to bowl Shawn
Baker, and they fought back and forth matching each other box for box. In a
great finish, Steve came out with the win 152-142.

Steve Renaud Sr.
The next match, however, turned out to be the last for Steve. In the
quarterfinals, he faced the red hot Jim Putney and lost 148-127. Even though he
did not win, this tournament serves as a great introduction of Steve to the
professional world of candlepin bowling.

Our next tournament is the Ultimate Ladder, and it will be held at Union Street
Lanes in Holbrook, MA. In this tournament, there will be three strings in the
qualifying rounds, with the top twenty-five advancing and being placed into
five different ladders. Each ladder will have seeds of one through five. Each
seed is based on qualifying score. The top five qualifiers will become number
one seeds, the next five qualifiers will become number two seeds, and so on.
In each ladder, the five seed will bowl the four seed, with the winner
bowling the three seed, and so on until we have a winner in each ladder.
Ladder winners will be placed into a final or ultimate ladder, based on the
winning score in each ladder. The highest winning score will be the one seed,
and the lowest winning score will be the five seed. Again the five seed bowls
the fourth seed with the winner advancing until we have an Ultimate Ladder
Champion.
