Over the past 15 years, more than 23,000 congregations and places
of worship have joined hands with farming families on the mountains
of Latin America, Africa and Asia. In 2011 alone, groups like yours
bought enough coffee to equal the entire year’s harvest of 377
family farms – that’s over 31,400,000 servings! By selling this coffee
directly and on fair terms, farmers have gained control, earned better
income and made strides in community services together.

fellowship hour, you and thousands of people of faith across the

of farmers across the globe who are rebuilding their communities,

Use your regular recipe for the chili base. As
you near the end of cooking your chili, add any of the
following products:
Equal Exchange Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Equal Exchange Organic Sugar
Any Equal Exchange ground coffee (not prepared):
3 - 6 tbsp. (depending on size of Sauce Pot!).
The coffee goes especially well with meaty chilis.
Equal Exchange Organic Spicy Hot Cocoa: This
addition is our favorite! Taste-test your chili several
times as the cocoa gives a nice, spicy kick!
Amount to add:
10 – 12 people = about 1 to 2 heaping tbsp.
15 – 20 people = about 3 to 4 heaping tbsp.
25 – 30 people = about 5 or so heaping tbsp.
Chocolate Chunk Flap Jacks

1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. baking powder
2 tbsp. butter, melted
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 bar Equal Exchange Milk
Chocolate bar, chopped
1 tbsp. sugar
Equal Exchange Organic
1 egg
1 1/2 c. buttermilk
Fair Trade Bananas
maple syrup
In a small bowl, beat an egg and stir in buttermilk. In a second
larger bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda
and salt. Create a well in the center of the dry ingredients and
pour in buttermilk mixture. Stir just until combined and add
vanilla and chopped chocolate. Add melted butter. Pour batter
by 1/4 cupfuls onto medium-low heated skillet. After bubbles
have formed on top, flip! Cook each flapjack a total of 4-6
minutes. Top with butter, syrup and sliced bananas, and enjoy!
Makes 8 flapjacks.
Recipe doubles well for group pancake breakfasts.

Exchange Milk Chocolate bar,
broken into small pieces)
Bring water to a near boil. Steep the 5 bags of peppermint tea in the
water for 4-5 minutes, then take out. Add the hot cocoa and half and
half, turn heat on low and stir until fully dissolved and heated. Serve
with an optional mint garnish and enjoy!

Preheat oven to 350°F. Butter a 9-inch baking pan.
Melt butter and the 1 large chocolate bar in a heavy saucepan over
low heat. Stir constantly until smooth. Add olive oil. Remove from
heat; cool to lukewarm. Stir in brown sugar and vanilla. Add eggs,
beat well, until mixture is thoroughly mixed and glossy.
Stir remaining ingredients (already combined, excluding remaining
chocolate and nuts) into the chocolaty mix.
Pour most of the batter into pan. Insert minis and cover with a thin
layer of batter. Add nuts if desired. Bake for about 30 minutes.

Heat all ingredients together in a pot on the stove. Serve hot and spice it
up with an optional cinnamon stick. If you like a stronger coffee flavor,
use half as much water as you usually do to brew coffee.
