Chief Librarian
Welcome to the University of Malaya and to the University
of Malaya Library or Perpustakaan Universiti Malaya. We
are indeed happy to receive you as a member of UM’s
growing community of students and staff.
The Library will definitely play a significant role in your life
as a student since this is the source of most of your
information needs. Since our Library is the oldest
academic library in Malaysia, we do have an extensive
collection of both print and electronic materials. To date,
we have approximately 1.9 million items in various
formats to meet the teaching, learning and research needs
of our users. In order to satisfy the needs of the Internet
generation, we subscribe to over more than 80,000
e-journal titles and 40,000 e-book titles. At any one time,
the Library can seat a total of 2,000 users. So, do come over
and plug your laptops in designated areas to surf the
Internet or watch the news or just have a cup of coffee.
We wish you all the best as you pursue your goals here
with us. Enjoy your time here and cherish the experiences
you go through as a member of the prestigious University
of Malaya community.

* Information Skills Course (GXEX1401)
The Information Skills Course is designed to equip you with
skills that will enable you to find information independently.
GXEX1401 consists of lectures, exercises, tests, a project and a
final examination. It is compulsory for you to pass the course
in order to fulfill your degree requirement.

Online Renewal
* All items can be renewed online provided they are
NOT OVERDUE or ON HOLD by another user
* Items may be renewed online three (3) times only
* Outstanding library fines may prohibit online
renewal
Step 1:
* Go to:
Pendeta WebPAC (http://www.pendeta.um.edu.my)
* Click " My Account" (My Account is a useful online
tool for managing your library account. Click
"Help" to read more about My Account)
Step 2:
* Click "Renew My Materials"
Step 3:
* Log in (This login is only valid for the current
transaction)
* Enter "User ID" (your member card number)
and "PIN" (Your default PIN is 1234)
* Click " List Charged Items" button

Type: "The University of Malaya Library"

Step 4:
* Select "Renew Selected Items" or "Renew All"
(if you are renewing selected items, select the check
box by the items to be renewed)
* Click "Renew Selected Items" at the bottom of the
list to renew your materials or "Clear Selections"
to start over
(Your selected items are renewed. Note the new due
date displayed. Print this page and keep it as a
reminder or make a note of your new due date in your diary)
Step 5:
* Log out (Don't forget to log out each time you leave
the Pendeta WebPAC)
