Tuesday, June 19th Woodington Lake Golf Club Tottenham, Ontario 9:30 Registration 11:00 Shotgun Start 18th Annual TOURETTE SYNDROME GOLF TOURNAMENT SPONSORSHIP & REGISTRATION PACKAGE A Message From the Chair Steven Sager Macdonald, Sager, Manis LLP It’s my pleasure to invite you to join us on Tuesday, June 19th, 2012, at Woodington Lake Golf Club in Tottenham for the 18th Annual Tourette Syndrome Foundation of Canada Golf Tournament. Over almost two decades the tournament has raised over $1.2 million dollars for our Foundation and golfers have enjoyed a full day of golf, exciting on-course activites, a wide variety of amenities, a delicious post-game dinner and an evening highlighted by a silent auction. I write to invite you to join us again this year in making a difference in the lives of children with Tourette Syndrome. This year our golf committee is focused on creating another unforgettable tournament experience. As a result, we’re offering new golf packages–a combination of golf and sponsorship–that include a great day on the course (green fees, power cart), breakfast and lunch, dinner with reserved seating, a pre-dinner cocktail and wine with dinner, delicious samples at specialty holes (last year included beer and nuts, margaritas and nachos, Jamaican jerk chicken and rum punch, shrimp and Caesar cocktails, Haagen-Dazs ice cream), grab bags, prizes, entertainment, and the highly anticipated“TS Gift.” Please take a close look at our outstanding sponsorship and registration package. Tourette Syndrome (TS) is a neurological condition that affects 1 in 100 children in Canada today. TS is generally characterized by motor and vocal/phonic tics and the tics can range from mild to severe. The average age of onset is 7 years old and there’s no cure. The majority of individuals who have Tourette Syndrome are commonly affected by several associative conditions including Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, anxiety, depression, learning disabilities, dysfunction in sensory integration and sleep disorders. Our golf committee is very excited about our new tournament events. These enhancements make our tournament an ideal venue for entertaining clients, networking, advertising your business, thanking your employees, and investing in our community. To confirm your participation and purchase a golf package, please complete the enclosed registration form and fax it back to us at (905) 673-2638 or scan and email it to [email protected]. If you have any questions about the event, please feel free to contact me at 416-364-6163 or [email protected] or Gillian Fedchak, our tournament coordinator, at [email protected]. I hope I can count on your support for this very worthwhile cause. See you on the green! About the Foundation Who We Are Established in 1976, the Tourette Syndrome Foundation of Canada (TSFC) is the only federally registered, charitable organization of volunteers assisting individuals affected by Tourette Syndrome (TS) and its associated disorders. We are dedicated to improving the quality of life for those with, or affected by, Tourette Syndrome through programs of education, advocacy, self-help and the promotion of research. Vision All people who have Tourette Syndrome will lead quality lives as accepted and valued members of an informed, tolerant society. Purpose In fulillment of its mission, the Foundation disseminates educational material to individuals, professionals and agencies in the fields of health care, education and government through its local affiliates. These Chapters, Resource Units and Contact Representatives across the country help TS patients and their families cope with the problems that so often occur with a diagnosis of TS. In collaboration with the National body they help raise much needed awareness in their respective communities. The TSFC also stimulates and funds research that will ultimately find the cause of and cure for Tourette Syndrome and, at the same time, lead to improved medications and treatments. In addition to the development and distribution of print material, the Foundation also: • Encourages development and supports affiliates across the country; • Advocates for systemic change on behalf of vulnerable members; • Produces a quarterly newsletter; • Organizes workshops and symposia to increase the knowledge • and sensitivity of health care professionals and the community at large; • Provides periodic forums for scientists and clinicians and others working in the field of TS; • Offers an opportunity to join others affected by TS to discuss common problems and foster mutual support; and • Supports the Brain Bank Program and collaborates with other agencies dealing with neurological disorders.
