Skorpio.doc RS Epos Version 3 Skorpio X3 - Configuration This document explains the steps required in order to configure the new Datalogic Skorpio X3. Pre Configuration (Head Office PC) Setting Up Unpack all the items relating to the Skorpio X3. 1 x Skorpio X3 1 x Single Slot Charger 1 x PSU Connect the PSU to the single slot charger and plug it into a mains socket. Then plug the charger into your PC using a micro USB or printer cable. Be sure to plug the charger directly into a USB port on your PC and not through a USB hub. Attach the Battery to the Skorpio device and place the Skorpio into the charger and wait for the device drivers to install on the PC. Once the installation is finished open “Windows Mobile Device Centre” on the computer. If prompted with more, select “Don't Register”. At the Windows Mobile Device Centre Home Screen, you might need to press the Home button and then choose, “Connect without setting up your device”, “File Management” “Browse the content of your Device”. This document is a guide to the operation of RS Epos V3.1 functionality may change in future releases Copyright Re-Scan Ltd Michael Carter Revision #11 Page 1 of 8 Skorpio.doc Copy the contents of the “Skorpio Rescan Install Files” to the root directory of the Skorpio. e.g. ‘Copy and Run’, ‘Program Files’ and ‘FlashDisk’ NxEM Licensing Find the correct Licence that matches the serial number of the handheld device you are installing and then copy that file into the “FlashDisk” folder. Cleaning the Start Menu With the Skorpio still in the cradle using the PC browse to the following folder in the Skorpio directory: “Windows”, “Start Menu”, “Programs” (You may have to un-tick “Hide Protected operating system files (Recommended)” in order to browse to this folder). Remove – Games, Active Sync, Alarms, Calendar, Contacts, Getting Started, Help, Internet Explorer, Marketplace, Messenger, MSN Money, MSN Weather, Notes, Phone, Pictures & Videos, Remote Desktop Mobile, Search Phone, Tasks, Text, Windows Live and Windows Media. (You might need to leave the NXEmulator by pressing in sequence: [BlueButton] [Up Arrow] [1] [2] [3] [4] [ENT] ) Scroll to the time and press “Set”, Scroll to “Time” and change settings for, “Time Zone”, “Date“ and “Time”. Once all settings are correct press “OK” and “Save” Home Screen Setup On the Skorpio press the “Windows Key” the bottom left and then select the “File Explorer” icon. in . Press the Icon in the top right that looks a mobile phone under the title File Explorer then browse to: “My Device\Copy and Run”. Run the following programs: “ChrisTec.Windows”, “Opera_Mobile”, “NetCFv35” and “NxEm-DL”. Once all programs have been installed click and hold on the background of the folder and then select “Show all Files” Press the “Windows Key” and navigate to “Settings”, “Home” and then in the top right select “Items”. In the menu on the left make sure that only “Date”, “Wireless”, “Managed Items” are ticked and then press “OK”. The desktop or Home should now look like there is the date and wireless status at the top and 4 blue boxes with RSRadio, Opera Mobile, Win VNC and NxEm Config. Press “Config”, “1D Bar Code”, “EAN-13” and Tick “Send check digit”. Press the right arrow to change to EAN-8 and tick “Send check digit”, continue pressing the right arrow and tick all “Send check digit” options that you see. Press “OK” and “X” VNC Configuration On the Skorpio press the “Win VNC” button on the home screen to start the service. Once the service has started you will see a VNC icon in the bottom right of the screen. With File Explorer browse to “My Device\ Program Files\efonvnc\arm4” and then open”vncconfig”. Once in the configuration software select “Authentication” and “Config”. Enter a password and press “OK”. Once the changes have been made hold the following buttons until the device has reset. [Yellow Button] [Blue Button] and [ESC]. Set Device Name (optional) Press Windows key, select Settings, then System, then About. Select Device ID in the top right of the About screen. Rename the Device Name from ‘SkorpioX3’ to ‘Skorpio’ or whichever name you prefer. Press the X or Close to return to the main menu. Customer Installation Wireless Configuration On the Skorpio press the “Windows Key”, “Settings”, “Connections” and select either the red/gray “Wi-Fi” icon or the “SCU” Icon with Laird. You are now in the wireless configuration utility. To set up a wi-fi connectin select in order: Select the “Profile” Tab Press “Scan” button. Tap the Wi-Fi SSID of the network Press “Configure” button Press “Yes” Enter the Wireless Key for the network if prompted Select the “Main” Tab Press “Yes” Bring down the list of Active Profiles by pressing the down arrow Select the profile named after the Wi-Fi SSID Press “OK” in the bottom right. The IP address can be set up on the computer by: Click “Start” or the Windows Icon or Press the Windows Key Run “CMD” Type “ipconfig -all” (without the quotes) into the command prompt and press “enter” Make a note of the, IPv4 Address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway, DNS Servers Open “Network and Sharing Centre” Click “Change adapter settings” Right Click “Local Area Connection” Select “Properties” Select “Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) Select “Properties” Select “Use the following IP Address” Fill in the details that you noted down Press “Ok” Press “Ok” Re-Scan Configuration We must now tell Re-Scan how the Skorpio will be connecting, to do this we log into Re-Scan and go to, System → Parameters → Interface → Picco → Amend → Client Number (Choose Back Office Client Number) → TCP Port Number (1978) → Save This document is a guide to the operation of RS Epos V3.1 functionality may change in future releases Copyright Re-Scan Ltd Michael Carter Revision #11 Page 6 of 8 Skorpio.doc NxEM Configuration Once Re-Scan is configured to use the Skorpio the Skorpio must be told how to connect to Re-Scan. This is done via the “NXEM Config” program which can be found on the home screen.
