Dear Friends and Supporters,
Over the years I’ve had the opportunity to provide a message about another
busy year at HeartLove Place and 2015 was no different. It is a message that
fills my heart with joy because it is another year of helping people connect
to their greater purpose. Our staff, volunteers, supporters and friends are
instrumental in the continuance of HeartLove Place activities. They are the
ones who, with a heart of love, teach, encourage, and support families through
our programs and services. This is our daily message to everyone who walks
through the doors of HeartLove Place.
“At the Heart of it All” is not just a slogan, it is the way we operate daily. It is
the way we are making a difference in the community we serve. “At the Heart
of it All” is how we create our partnerships and alliances. “At the Heart of
it All” is how we teach in our Child Development Center or in our Pro-Start
classes. So you may ask, who or what is “At the Heart of it All” and we would
say Jesus Christ is at the Heart of everything that we do. The unconditional
love that is given to us each day is the same type of love we demonstrate to all.
We hope that you can help us continue to be, “At the Heart of it All” by
becoming a Friend of HeartLove Place and supporting our events, our annual
giving campaign or volunteering. Your support will allow you to be “At the
Heart of it All” too. So please join us as we move forward in the upcoming
year and beyond.
Your friend in faith,
Christopher Martin
Board Chairman

In 2015 HeartLove Place directly served 5,000 families through our Child
Development Center, Family Resource Center and Food Services and provided
more than 70,000 meals to children during the Summer. At the heart of it all is…
PROSTART CULINARY
& JOB READINESS PROGRAM
Adults 18 and older participate in a 14 week curriculum
based training program. In 2015 HeartLove Place
shortened the session weeks from 20 weeks to 14
weeks in order to offer more training opportunities.
100% of participants passed the ServSafe food safety
certification. Employment placement for 2015 was
36%. More than 80 adults enrolled in the ProStart
Culinary & Job Readiness Program.
Partners: Helen Bader Philanthropies
and Word of Hope Ministries
CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER
In 2015 HeartLove Place provided quality child care
services to 85 families with children ages 4 weeks to
12 years of age. The center provides programs that
focus on the development of children in 4 core areas:
education, spiritual, social, creative and wellness.
Other programs of the center include a HeartLove
Place Garden which teaches children responsibility
through gardening; children grew lettuce, tomatoes,
collard greens, cucumbers, onions, spinach and
green beans. The READ program ensures that all
children gain an appreciation for reading. Children
are read to every day with guest readers visiting
throughout the year. In 2015 twenty-five guest
readers provided 300 hours of reading time.
